"What?! Is he planning to reveal my secret—that I'm a girl?"
"Lucas, please don't do something that will make me hate you forever," Olive warned, her voice edged with a growing anger.
"Fine! I won't," Lucas replied, raising his eyebrows as if waiting for a response. "But on one condition: work on the school project with me and come to Louise's party in my car."
"Oh! So that's what this is about?" Olive asked with a smirk. "The school project, and making sure I don't go to the party in Louise's car but in yours? You're blackmailing me now?"
"Yes, I am," Lucas said, a wide smile dancing on his lips, his tone unapologetic.
"Well, I hate to break it to you, but your threats won't work," Olive shot back, her smirk widening. "There's no way you'll tell anyone about your feelings for me. You'd never hurt me like that. So, your so-called threats are nothing but empty words."
