Chapter 1 - Prologue

They say falling in love is a fairytale.

Isn't that nothing but a solid and dreadful fiction that more often than not ends up in misery, creating dumb and hopeless romantic teens who are ready to waste their youth and lives like fools in love?

Regardless of how it was portrayed to be always filled with colors and glitters, filling one with silly butterflies in the stomach all throughout, it was more pain than pleasure.

Saying that a happy ending was in sight after all the hurdles was no doubt just bullshit.

If being in love is a fairytale with a happy ending, then why does it have to end?

"How can it be happy if it doesn't last?" She scoffed. "What happens after that ending? Surely there's more to it. No one dies by merely falling, the most they can get is a broken heart if not for a broken bone. A scar? Heh, looking at it by place value, I even wished it didn't happen."

But even when no one dies due to a heartbreak, it's always that person's will shattering into pieces.

Freiah Claireon gazed at the man who was sleeping soundly on the king-size bed hatefully after seeing his memories shed light after sharing the hollow night.

"Bastard," she uttered hatefully. "Meeting you was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I gave up everything for you and made you the center of my life. But what did you give me in return? You wasted it for the call of flesh. I wonder who was the real beast between us. How could you do those things?!"

Each word she spoke made her jaw clench even tighter. Her right eye shone a deep golden chroma, bellying the darkness that surrounded the man's bedroom.

Even the loud and booming thunderclaps and sparks of lighting cutting across the gloomy drape of the night couldn't hold a candle to the looming expression on her face.

Bam!

Clad in the thin silk of the white nightgown, her midnight-long hair fluttered unruly due to the wind coming from the opened window.

Ultimately giving a ghostly silhouette against the dark wallpaper that one wouldn't wish to see at such an ungodly hour.

At this point, it seems like no benevolent god would grace Freon and help her ease the pain in her heart.

She fiercely held the right side of her profile with a vivid look of devastation.

"I know I didn't die... But why do feel like I'm dying inside?"

Why does she have to be her mate and get rejected... no... rather, get cheated outright?!

Of all people!

Why does it have to be a goddamn human with no backbone and dignity?

How did she end up with a pathetic man who had an illicit relationship with his students?

"Ah... Haha... Arghh!" Freon laughed and screamed in frustration. She regretted not changing his sleeping pills with poison!

Freon wants to question the moon goddess' grace- or is it? Was it not a curse instead? 'Cause she was sure as hell that she wasn't pleased with her circumstances yet there wasn't a way for her to get away with it!

Why is she the only one getting driven by the mate's pull?

If not for this shitty mating and destined partner inherent for wolves, why else would she be in this crappy situation, feeling shitty inside?!

Her fangs grew but half of it remained as humanly possible. Even transforming became such a hassle!

But more than anything else, the most important thing for her had been taken away.

As if a part of her was gone missing in a snap and it's just that, she knew all too well that no matter what she did, it won't be possible to get it back again.

Not ever.

"Prim... ha! She's is gone," she closed her eyes tightly. Her stifled voice was filled with mourning as she referred to her lost wolf.

Now she was really lost. She can't stay in place with such a dirtbag, and there's no way she will be able to go back in her pack unless she wants to be treated as a slave.

But instead of bawling her eyes, her dried tears made her look indifferent at this moment.

As though she wouldn't give a damn anymore about the person she had once cherished and loved. The same person who had caused her wolf's demise.

"My pitiful other half..." Freon choked her sobs and darted her vengeful glares to the unsuspecting man. "We don't deserve a degenerate of a manwhore," she rasped fiercely.

"But going up all alone... This is totally unfair to you, Prim. I won't let you go to the other side unaccompanied." Freon declared, gritting her teeth in anger.

Whether Prim would want this or not, Freon would still end this pathetic bastard to erase such a lowlife that victimizes his students for the world itself.

To think that she was associated with that kind of person only made her shudder.

In the next moment, she bared her sharpened claws in a swift motion.

Transforming her nails into razor-sharp weapons for killing.

"If it's an ending then at least one of us should get his company, right? Take your revenge on him there Prim. I'll take mine first."

Her lips curved to a sinfully beautiful yet deadly smile with resolute eyes.

Her wolf couldn't take the shock and died due to his betrayal. Now it's time to punish this imbecile for everyone's sake.

Freon licked the corner of her swollen lips and tasted the man's lingering flavor on her tongue before ending him in his fool's paradise.

In a trice, the previous groans of pleasure that blended with the loud thunder during their intercourse became a sharp hitch of the man's last breath.

"Fre---Ack!"

Freon smiled mockingly, seeing his last form of struggle.

"Since the moon goddess was so cruel to me, getting me entangled with such a lowlife human mate, I shall make it so that at least my wolf would have him and wouldn't be lonely and bored in the afterlife."

She licked her blooded hand, and soon a brand revealing a cold chain with a dreadful-looking hollow star inside it appeared on her left wrist exactly just above her pulse.

Grappling her heart in relentless freeze and making it stop beating.

"... So this is what emptiness meant," Freon whispered with her lonely figure vanishing through the dead of the night.
