CH - 2 A Life Of Struggle: Roshni Story
Chapter 2
Rudhir walked out of the principal's office, his eyes scanning the crowded hallway. All eyes were on him, and whispers followed him like a shadow. He ignored the curious gazes and made his way through the sea of students. Some tried to approach him, but he brushed past them, his long strides eating up the distance. He had no time for small talk or idle chatter.
As he pushed open the college gates, the cool mountain air hit him like a slap. He welcomed the refreshing breeze, feeling it clear his head. He had more pressing matters to attend to than the petty intrigues of the college students.
Roshni stood in front of the principal's office, her mind still reeling from the encounter with Rudhir. She couldn't believe how he had saved her from those rowdy students, his piercing gaze and chiseled features etched in her memory. She felt a flutter in her chest as she thought about him, her heart racing with excitement.
But suddenly, reality hit her like a ton of bricks. "Crap, I forgot! I have to settle into the hostel!" she muttered to herself, feeling a surge of panic. She quickly made her way out of the administration block and headed towards the St. Mary's Girls' Hostel, her mind racing with thoughts of Rudhir and the new life she was about to start.
As she walked, she couldn't help but wonder if she would see him again, and what other adventures lay in store for her in this new chapter of her life.
As she entered the hostel, Roshni was greeted by the warm smile of the warden, Mrs. Kumar. "Welcome, dear! I see you're one of our new students. Let me show you to your room."
Roshni followed Mrs. Kumar up the stairs, her eyes taking in the cozy atmosphere of the hostel. The walls were adorned with vibrant paintings, and the air was filled with the aroma of fresh flowers.
"Here we are, Room 205," Mrs. Kumar said, opening the door to a neat and tidy room. "You'll be sharing with two other girls. I'm sure you'll all get along famously."
Roshni nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves as she began to unpack her bags. She couldn't wait to meet her new roommates and start this new chapter of her life.
Just as she was putting away her clothes, there was a knock at the door. "Come in!" Roshni called out, wondering who it could be.
The door opened to reveal Sophia, the girl with bright pink hair and a friendly smile, but with a hint of mischief in her eyes. "Hey, I'm Sophia! We met earlier, remember?"
Roshni smiled, unaware of Sophia's ulterior motive. "Yeah, you offered to show me around. Thanks for coming to check on me!"
Sophia's smile grew wider as she sauntered into the room, followed by her friend Shivani, a girl with a pierced nose and a sullen expression. "Hey, Roshni! I'm Shivani. We're your new roommates."
Roshni's eyes widened as she took in the two girls, sensing a strange energy between them. Little did she know, Sophia and Shivani had a hidden agenda, sent by Suraj to exact revenge for his embarrassment earlier that day...
Sophia and Shivani exchanged a sly glance, their eyes sparkling with a secret understanding. Roshni didn't notice, too busy unpacking her bags and making small talk.
"So, Sophia, what's your favorite subject?" Roshni asked, trying to break the ice.
Sophia shrugged, her pink hair bobbing with the movement. "I'm not really into studies, Roshni. I prefer... extracurricular activities."
Shivani snickered, her pierced nose glinting in the light. "Yeah, Sophia's quite the rebel."
Roshni raised an eyebrow, sensing a hint of trouble. But she pushed the thought aside, eager to make friends in her new college.
As they chatted, Sophia and Shivani expertly extracted information from Roshni, their questions innocent-sounding but probing. Roshni, oblivious to their motives, shared stories about her family, her hobbies, and her dreams.
Unbeknownst to her, Sophia and Shivani were gathering ammunition, their minds spinning with ways to use this information against her...
Sophia and Shivani expertly extracted information from Roshni, their questions innocent-sounding but probing. Roshni, still unaware of their motives, shared stories about her life, trying to fit in.
"You know, I'm an orphan," Roshni said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I was found on the doorstep of an orphanage in a Dehradun village. I don't know my real parents or my actual birthday."
Sophia and Shivani exchanged a glance, their eyes sparkling with interest. "That's so sad, Roshni!" Sophia cooed. "But you're so lucky to have been taken in by the orphanage."
Roshni nodded, her eyes clouding over. "Yeah, I was lucky. But it wasn't easy. I had to work hard to get where I am today. And now, I'm finally in college, trying to make a better life for myself."
Sophia and Shivani nodded sympathetically, but their eyes gleamed with a hidden intensity. They were gathering ammunition, collecting secrets to use against Roshni when the time was right...
Roshni's eyes dropped, her gaze tracing the patterns on the floor. "I remember the orphanage director, Mrs. Gupta, telling me that I was found with a small note pinned to my clothes. It had my name, Roshni, and a single sentence: 'Please take care of her.' But that's it. No other clues about my family or where I came from."
Sophia and Shivani exchanged another glance, their faces softening with fake empathy. "That must have been so hard for you, Roshni," Sophia said, her voice dripping with sweetness. "But you're strong to have made it this far on your own."
Roshni nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Yeah, I've learned to rely on myself. But sometimes, in quiet moments like this, I wonder about my real parents. Who they were, why they left me behind... and whether they're even still alive."
The room fell silent, Sophia and Shivani's eyes locked on Roshni with an intensity that made her shiver. But she didn't notice, lost in her thoughts, unaware of the secrets her new "friends" were hiding...
Roshni's thoughts drifted back to her life in the orphanage, the memories bittersweet. She remembered the strict routine, the shared rooms, and the constant struggle for attention from the overworked staff. But she also remembered the small joys: the birthday celebrations, the occasional picnics, and the late-night whispers with her closest friends.
As she grew older, Roshni became determined to create a better life for herself. She studied hard, pouring over books and seeking out tutors to help her with difficult subjects. She worked part-time jobs to save money, and she applied for scholarships to fund her college education.
And now, here she was, starting fresh in a new city, with a chance to leave her past behind and forge a new future. Roshni's heart swelled with hope as she thought about the possibilities ahead.
But Sophia and Shivani's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, their gaze piercing the armor she had built around herself. They saw the vulnerability she tried to hide, the scars she had accumulated over the years. And they knew exactly how to exploit them...
Roshni's eyes welled up as she thought about her childhood. Growing up in the orphanage, she had always felt like an outsider. The other kids would tease her, calling her a "orphan" and saying she was unwanted. The caretakers were strict and cold, making her feel like a burden.
She remembered one incident where she had accidentally broken a vase, and the caretaker had scolded her harshly, making her feel like she was nothing. From then on, Roshni had made a promise to herself to work hard and prove her worth.
As she grew older, Roshni faced new challenges. She was forced to work part-time jobs to support herself, all while studying and trying to make a better life for herself. She had to deal with creepy employers, long hours, and the constant struggle to make ends meet.
Despite all this, Roshni had never given up. She had kept pushing forward, determined to make a better life for herself. But the memories of her past still lingered, a constant reminder of the hardships she had faced.
As she finished her story, Sophia and Shivani exchanged a glance, their eyes gleaming with a sinister light. They knew they had found the perfect target, someone who was vulnerable and desperate for friendship.
And with that, they began their game, weaving a web of deceit and manipulation around Roshni, one that would change her life forever.
