Chapter 91 - Chapter 91: Nexus

"This staff...," a ripple occurred in Garen's heart. A feeling that seemed familiar yet strange slowly emerged inside his heart.

He gently took the staff and savored the mysterious feeling inside his heart.

Like most protagonists in a standard novel, Garen also had his own hack.

His golden finger was primarily responsible for bringing him to the pinnacle of each of the worlds he had previously been to.

The special ability of his golden finger was to absorb a special type of energy from some objects and convert it into points that Garen could use to increase his stats or his understanding of a skill.

In other words, it was an attribute panel with which he could allocate his points however he wanted.

After so long, he could finally feel that familiar energy coming from this staff.

"That is the Absolute Yin Staff. Since you have picked it up, it is considered the first object you have chosen." The Honorable Noble Mingway's voice sounded again.

"What do you choose as the second object?"

"Absolute Yin Staff?

Can you explain to me what it does?"

"It is an antique with a long history, and the material it is made of is something special. It was said that only the elders of the Mother Planet Federation could use it, but the federation had been divided for so long that this thing had already lost its symbolic identity.

Now it's just a nice ornament with some collectible value," Mingway laughed disdainfully.

"By the way, the value of this thing is only twenty million at the most."

"That's fine, as long as I like it." said Garen smiling as he twirled the cane with in his hand.

He then picked out another item before walking away.

Several months later.

Noah received the call from the last team in charge of developing the last part of the software.

After picking up the pen drive with the data, Noah reorganized the source code and made sure there were no bugs before installing it on the new computer next to the new AI.

A holographic table connected to the computer suddenly turned on, projecting a progressive bar that appeared before Noah's eyes for less than a second before the software was properly installed.

A three-dimensional hologram of an inverted crown was projected onto the holographic table.

On one side of the crown could be read "Nexus 1.0 System."

"Beep!"

"Connecting to auxiliary computers."

"Beep!"

"Connections established."

"Beep!"

"Optimizing overall performance."

"Beep!"

"Optimization completed."

"Beep!"

"Nexus artificial intelligence successfully installed."

"Beep!"

"Connecting Nexus artificial intelligence to Nexus software."

"Beep!"

"Connection established."

As the computer reorganized its data, it floated up to two meters before sections of it began to rotate and reorganize like a typical Rubik's cube.

A few seconds later the reorganization ended and the Rubik's cube stopped spinning.

"The artificial intelligence of the Nexus quantum supercomputer greets the master."

Noah looked at the huge computer and nodded with satisfaction.

"Nexus, since your creation has been successful, let me test your capabilities.

Noah embedded the memory crystal he obtained from Red Moon into a compartment that appeared in one part of the computer.

"Nexus! Download all the information contained in this memory crystal and organize it into different folders!"

The huge computer began to spin as Nexus' voice rang throughout the room.

"Beep!"

"Beginning to download and reorganize the information!"

"Beep!"

"Estimated time to download and reorganize: 20 days, 5 hours, 30 minutes and 15 seconds."

"This performance...

Not bad, not bad at all."

With the amount of data in the hundreds of thousands of terabytes stored on that crystal, that time was extremely short to fully analyze it.

Having finished his big project, Noah headed for the room next to his own.

"How's it going?"

"So far I have condensed 16 drops of blood from the Hellfrost Peacock.

I estimate that with the stones I have left I'll barely be able to condense a couple more.

Besides, this body is reaching its limit and could fall apart if I condense one or two more drops."

Compared to before, which was a body full of muscles, now the clone's body was very thin and looked sickly.

"Okay, go back for now. We'll continue this project later when we have enough resources."

Noah merged his clone with himself again before going to check on those two children.

The three of them sat in a coffee shop drinking coffee while chatting.

"So, how do you like this world?"

"It's... Magnificent but lifeless."

Magna seemed unable to properly express the feeling this world conveyed to her.

"The food is synthesized, the whole culture revolves around the Mechs and it seems like they haven't made any cultural progress for over 500 years."

"It's normal for you to think that way, after all, a world at war wouldn't have time to focus on cultural development and would center all of its focus on its military development.

As for what you said about the world seeming devoid of life, that is due to the depletion of its resources.

Don't compare this world to our world or the Tong Xuan continent.

I understand that your elven nature that makes you akin to nature makes you abhor this kind of environment where everything is industrialized but let me psyche you up, our world, before its final hour comes will experience a similar state, although with only 3000 years the common people will not have the opportunity to develop to this point.

With the slow disappearance of chaos energy and the inevitable disappearance of supernaturals like us, I don't think they will ever even develop enough technology to get off the planet."

"But brother...

Is there any way to save our world from the disaster you told us about?

Couldn't those gods you spoke of use their powers to save the people from extinction?"

"Sigh, I don't know the current situation of those gods but as you have long ago ascertained the way of the gods is full of flaws and very restrictive.

Perhaps their own power has played against them.

Also, when the influence of a god in the material world diminishes, the faith of his followers will diminish as well. If gods allow their followers to slowly stop believing in them without doing anything, even knowing that the source of their power comes from them, that can only mean that they are already or will be hindered by something or someone.

But let's stop thinking about those guys."

Noah looked at Lena seriously.

"Lena, altering the natural course of things can result in a great catastrophe or an unexpected blessing but I'm not one to like to gamble.

Our planet is destined to enter an ice age, if we unwisely interfere with the flow of its destiny we could come off very badly."

"But master, haven't we already done that with the Tong Xuan realm and this world? Our presence alone is supposed to have already altered the flow of this world's destiny."

"That's different..."

Noah rubbed his temples, thinking about how to explain to them about multiverses and different timelines and how theirs was a unique timeline.

Sighing, Noah began to explain as he conjured illusions in the air.

Because he had cast an illusion spell earlier, no one paid any attention to them.

Conjuring a sphere, he began to explain.

"I want you to think of this sphere as our universe."

He then caused countless strands of light to shoot out of the small sphere, making it resemble a ball of hair.

"Now imagine that each of these little strands are a different timeline in which each of our actions, what we did or didn't do, these countless possibilities, are a different timeline."

Noah then made a second hairball appear next to the first.

"Now I want you to think of this second ball as another universe.

This universe is one parallel to ours, with only a few alterations to it, such as, one of us might not exist in this new universe, causing the occurrences around us to never happen, taking the fate of this world on a different path.

The change may be major or insignificant but it is there all the same."

Then he made one of the many threads glow brightly and grow in size.

"Now I want you to imagine that this thread, which is larger than the rest, is a kind of parent for the other timelines in this universe.

All the innumerable timelines are derived from this central timeline.

Some call it the central timeline, while others call it the sacred timeline."

He then made the other threads disappear from the projection, leaving only the thread representing the central timeline.

"Our universe is special.

Due to certain events, we only have a single timeline, unlike our neighboring universes.

Therefore, things like time travel are extremely difficult and require a great sacrifice to open a temporal rift since one would not be traveling to an alternate timeline but to the central timeline, which is extremely protected.

Therefore, unlike these universes where each timeline is a different action and altering one of them will not affect the overall scheme of the universe, we must be extremely careful with our actions."

As he explained, the image of an ashen-haired girl traveling through the multiverse popped into his mind.

"I guess she wouldn't be able to time travel so easily either if she were in my universe."

Stopping to think to himself, Noah finished the explanation and went on to the next topic to cover in this meeting.

"I have completed the creation of the quantum supercomputer, within a month or so it will finish analyzing all the data I have provided it with and then I can proceed to create a method to alter our bodies to produce willpower."

As for altering the two's bodies to have a dantian and meridian system like that of the Tong Xuan realm, Noah didn't even think about that.

To advance into the dantian cultivation realms required the baptism of the world laws to nurture the body and dantian during each breakthrough and that phenomenon could only occur thanks to Martial Peak's natural laws of the universe.

"I estimate that in a maximum of six months I will have successfully developed such a method.

In the meantime, you can continue to have fun as once you develop your willpower I will put you through one hell of a workout for the next few years."

Noah smiled at the duo with a kind smile that hid a sinister omen of torture and suffering.

The two shuddered and began to recall bad memories of when they trained in hand-to-hand combat or their sorcery practice.

Neither of them were pleasant training, more like Spartan training.

"Fine! I'll go first. Goodbye!"

Opening a spatial tear, Noah left the place.
