Arriving at the tavern, Viltz noticed that the others were already gathered at a table with red faces and glasses of beer in their hands.
Noticing him sitting next to them, the others fixed their gazes on him in unison, only to notice that he was wearing a strange looking black patch over his left eye.
Lockhart,red-faced and bleary-eyed,looked at him puzzled and asked:"Hey! Did you get mugged or something?"
Artaud at his side burst out laughing and mocked: "Look at you, you disappear for five hours and come back with an eye patch, is the wound so bad that you have to cover it with that patch?"
Sorel at his side also joined the discussion.
"Come on tell us who it was that left you so bad, we'll give him a beating between all of us."
"That's right, we have to skin that bastard!"
"Today we're going to make blood, blood and more blood flow!"
"Come on guys, today it's time for a massacre!"
Massacre!
Massacre!
Massacre!
Seeing his drunken companions making up their own story, Viltz sighed and lifted his eyepatch, showing them an eye of a completely purple color, both the iris and the sclera.
Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be infected with some virus or poison because of its unnatural color.
The others immediately fell silent after seeing the sickly colored eye, only for Artaud to start laughing like an idiot with drool coming out of his mouth, unable to stop laughing.
The others seemed to deflate like balloons.
Sorel looked at him with disappointment plastered on his face and sighed dejectedly as he complained: "Man, coming with that patch before us, you gave us the hope of getting a little magic action by torturing some poor bastard using the excuse that we're defending a comrade, but it turns out you only got the eye.
Artaud stopped laughing for a moment and said seriously to the others: "Listen my friends, after leaving the bathroom you have to clean your hands well, and you can't go defecating in any random place, or else you'll end up like this fool, who knows where he went to defecate to get such an eye infection."
"What do you know, fool? I'm sure he went to some brothel and got infected by some sick prostitute."
"I didn't think you'd have that kind of fetish, letting a prostitute spit in your face."
"I bet she was cerricanian."
"I bet she's a succubus."
Sighing inwardly, Viltz tried to explain:"Stop fantasizing already, i didn't get infected in the eye with any poisonous shit or spit on by a succubus, and hell, i'm 8 years old i couldn't walk into a brothel even if i wanted to."
"Blah blah blah, all i hear are excuses, so tell me why your left eye looks like it was bitten by a snake?"
"Yes! You're even wearing a patch, it's obvious you're embarrassed for people to notice you have a pustular eye.
But don't worry, the patch fits you well, if you don't cover that eye i'm sure no sorceress will want to sleep with you in the future."
"Sigh, poor you, first the left eye has turned black, then the right one will too, and when you least expect it, booom, bye bye baby making machine."
"Hahahahaha, i'm sure you'll start pissing blood a few weeks from now."
Everyone started laughing again, not giving Viltz a chance to explain himself, which suited him just fine so he stopped making excuses and just let them continue making up their own stories until they got tired of the subject and decided to leave the inn already.
Before leaving, Viltz took out the book with the bottle inside and passed it to Artaud, who quickly took the bottle out from inside the book, walking hurriedly in front of the bartender.
"Fill this bottle with liquor please."
After filling the bottle to the brim with liquor, Artaud sealed it and placed it back inside the book.
Viltz took the opportunity and passed his overly heavy backpack to Artaud, who placed the book with the bottle next to the other books and set out to carry it on his back.
Arriving at the entrance of the Academy, Atraud passed the backpack to Viltz, who almost tripped due to its excessive weight.
Upon reaching the main hallway, the group encountered the vice-rector, who wrinkled his nose at the smell of alcohol exuding from the group.
After passing his gaze over everyone, he fixed his gaze on Viltz, frowning as he noticed the patch on his eye.
"What happened to your eye?"
"Nothing important, it's just temporary."
Noticing that Viltz didn't want to talk, Mardin didn't press the issue, more concerned that one of the students might be sneaking alcohol.
After looking intently at everyone without finding any apparent place where they could hide a bottle of alcohol, he fixed his gaze on the large backpack Viltz was carrying on his back.
The latter already understanding the protocol, opened the backpack, revealing its contents, revealing how there were five neat books, along with a small book and a bulging black bag.
"What do you carry in that black bag?"
Viltz opened the bag, revealing large amounts of gold coins.
"It's just the money from the exchange i made with Grandmaster Ortolan."
"Oh i see,and how did it go?"
"Everything went off without a hitch."
"Well, master Ortolan is someone reliable, he won't pay you less than what your products are worth."
As he finished speaking, Vice Principal Mardin glanced at the others again, speaking in a cold voice: "You all stink of cheap beer, you have a class with me tomorrow and i don't want my class to smell so unpleasant, you will all go and take a shower right now."
The others, as always fearful of this ever stern man, began to nod frantically before running to their rooms to grab their clothes and towels.
The vice chancellor, after seeing this, let out a snort and left.
Entering his room,Viltz left the backpack on the bed and picked up a new set of clothes and a towel, heading to the bathroom with the others.
After bathing, they all headed to their rooms to sleep.
An hour later, someone knocked on Viltz's door, who was reading one of the books he rented from the library.
Sighing with annoyance, Viltz put the book aside and got up to open the door.
Opening the door, he found the others gathered outside his door.
Before he could complain, they all began to enter the room one by one.
Sighing helplessly, Viltz could only close the door behind him, already knowing the purpose of his companions' intrusion.
Opening his closet, he pulled out a common-looking book.
Opening the book, he took out the full bottle of liquor, passing it to his annoying companions, hoping that they would leave his room and let him have some peace and quiet.
But unlike what he expected, they put the bottle on the floor and sat down around him, pulling out a deck of cards.
Half an hour later, Viltz, confused, found himself sitting next to his companions, with a stack of cards and gold coins in front of each of them.
Looking at the bottle in the center, he found it almost empty.
As he tried to process how he had ended up in this situation, someone shoved the liquor bottle into his mouth, forcing him to drink.
Feeling the drink sliding down his mouth, Viltz felt dizzy and felt like throwing up.
"It's my turn, bring the bottle."
"Haha!I win this round, i get to keep the coins. "Lockhart laughed out loud as he picked up the coins and stuffed them in his pockets.
"That's not fair, you sure cheated."
"Guys it's getting late and there's no more liquor left. "Lockhart quickly changed the subject, deftly evading any accusations his drunken companions might make to him.
"You're right, the vice chancellor will scold us if we wake up late."
Rising, the others began to leave one by one.
Now alone and with only the empty bottle in front of him, Viltz sighed and staggered to his feet.
Grabbing the bottle, he hid it back inside the book and then lay straight down on the bed, falling into a deep sleep immediately.
