The beginning of the end.
Unlike every other day, today seems unusually sunny. It reminds me of when i went to phoenix for a school trip. The temperature there was sorta hot and i had to try to adjust but it seemed difficult. I live in California, Los Angeles to be precise. I just moved in when i got admission to study nursing in the university of California. I had to look for someone that i can share a small apartment with and split the rent since i most certainly cannot afford the full rent money yearly. I got a roommate and her name's Kimberly but usually called Kim. We attend the same college and we bonded quite fast. Kim is a kind and really wonderful person to be with.
Right now i am heading to the restaurant i got a job as a waitress,per time though. I was left all on my own to fend for myself at a young age and working is the only way i can help cater for myself, pay my school fees and send some money to my grandma also for her upkeep. My grandma is the only one left for me as family as well as guardian. She is too old to work so i took it upon myself to take care of her as much as i can. My granny as i fondly call her,lives in Chicago where i grew up but i do visit her whenever the school gives the students break for the semester.
Lost in thoughts while walking to my workplace to save money,i did not notice the strange looking man passing by so by chance i mistakenly crashed into him. Just before i was about to look at him or utter any word,his voice made me shiver. " Can't you watch where you are going" were the words i heard. Recovering from the shock as i slowly raised my head to look at him,i responded now getting clearly upset that i am being delayed.
"You also bumped into me and you are the one that gets angry?" I scoffed.
He's so arrogant but undeniably handsome.
"You could have just apologized though" This guy just keeps trying to get me riled up.
"I don't think there is a reason to apologize so if you are done wasting your time making a pointless point,i have somewhere important to be" and with that i left that place immediately.
Nice,a great way to start my day. I thought sarcastically.humph!
I had to quickly rush to the restaurant because my shift is about to start. I have limited time left thanks to mr arrogant. After few minutes of walking as fast as i can to the restaurant i finally got there.
"Right in time stacey" my co-worker and friend,joanne said as soon as i stepped in and began changing to my work clothes. "You know i did not take the bus and someone had to delay me on my way coming" Want to talk about it" she responded "Not really but when i am done with today's work,we can talk about him. I don't want the thought of him to distract me." "No problem" came her simple reply.
As i was about to conclude the day's work,the manager sent a message to me that we have to meet the CEO of the restaurant before we leave for our respective homes. "Stacey!" Liz, one of my co-workers,a chatterbox too called my name and came up to me. "The manager asked to see all of us and leave the attending of customers to Mary,a back up staff. Seems like the CEO is around" "Okay I'll be there in a sec" I told her then waited for Mary to replace me before i walked up to the manager's office to meet the other staffs. Just as i opened the knocked on the door and opened it,i met the shock of my life. I felt my heart jump out of my chest. oh no!
Seated before me as the CEO is the man that i came across with in the morning on my way to work. For a second,i saw him smirk at me but he changed his expression to an indifferent one swiftly that i doubted he ever smirked. "G...goo..good day sir" I managed to say even though i stuttered. He ignored me then turned to the manager and asked him to do the introductions. I wonder why this mean looking man ever thought of opening a big restaurant when he could've just gone for something that would suit his personality. The manager's voice brought me back to consciousness "This is Kendra and finally this is stacey,she works as a per time waitress here" The man just nodded. "
"Everyone meet the son of the owner of this restaurant" Mr Devon. I just stood transfixed in the same spot unable to utter a single word.
After all the intro's and small talks mainly by the manager and the "boss" we were finally dismissed.
I won't be surprised if i get fired anytime from now.
