Chapter 2 - The Shīrudo Squad

The sound of a blade slicing through the air rang through the area. Blood flew from the man's sword before sheathing it once again in his hilt.

"Hey, you there! Are you okay?!"

Footsteps approached Taka, but she couldn't respond. Her vision was growing dim. Unable to think or move, the only thing she could do was lie there, and wait for help.

"Are you really contempt with being as weak as you are?"

A deep voice echoed out, as if speaking to Taka in her mind.

"Who are you?" Taka asked herself, confused.

Without skipping a beat, the demonic voice rang out once again.

"Life's not gonna get easier or more forgiving from here. You let your friend die. All she wanted to do was help you, and you got her killed."

Taka's mind filled with rage. Not only at the voice's words, but at herself, for being so weak.

"Rely on me. With my strength, no more of your friends will die. You just have to accept my help."

The voice let out a menacingly evil laugh, causing shivers up Taka's spine.

She winced in pain.

Before Taka could answer, an evil presence flooded through her, making its way through every cell in her body.

Suddenly, a black aura shot out from her body, shooting the mysterious man backwards into the creature's lifeless corpse.

A fierce gust of wind overtook Taka, causing a savage cyclone to form around her. The sinister aura shook the world, causing tectonic plates to shift, forcing the weather to change, forming tornados, bringing chaotic tsunamis around the world. This demonic aura caused turmoil all around the planet, as if the world was reacting in fear.

The man was being crushed under the immense power.

"This ryōka... It's unlike anything I've ever seen. I've never felt so close to death in my-"

Before the man could finish his thought, Taka stepped forward, seizing all of the catastrophic events, concentrating every bit of her Ryōka inwards. In an instant, the ground beneath her shattered, causing a crater in the earth. In a single step, she appeared above the man, striking him with her fist.

The impact of the strike was too much for her fragile body to handle, shattering her hand in the process.

"Damn-"

The man whispered to himself, barely fast enough to block her strike with his sheathed sword. The strike sent the man flying, crashing through building after building, only slowing down from the impact of each structure he flew through.

In the next instant, Taka's shoulder blades started growing, tearing through her skin. Suddenly, a pair of large, black crow-like wings shot out of her skin, causing her to shriek in agony.

"It appears there's no other choice."

The man sighed, grabbing his sword out of his sheath.

A look of sadness appeared on the man's face, as if not wanting to finish the battle so quickly.

"But I suppose there's nothing else I can do."

Taka flapped her wings, lifting herself up into the sky. With another flap, she instantly gained enough speed to appear directly behind the man, breaking through the sound barrier with ease.

"Wha-"

Taka kicked the man overhead, this time sending the man plummeting to the ground, shattering her leg in an instant.

"Gah-" the man coughed up blood, the wind being knocked out of his body.

Before he was able to react, she dove towards him, Plummeting into his abdomen, ripping his stomach right open.

"Damnit!"

A huge cater formed under the man's body, only getting bigger with each strike. Every strike she dealt caused surrounding buildings to fall, leading to unavoidable damage.

"I wish we could play a little more, but I have to stop this before anyone else dies."

In another second, the man raised his sword in the air rotating it clockwise.

"From the depths of imagination, bring forth the future's revelation. With each stroke upon the canvas, let the visions of tomorrow surface. In the lines and shadows, the truth shall emerge, guiding us through the unknown."

With that chant, an image formed in front of him, the image was Taka, laying on the ground, with his sword on her neck.

Without a second thought Taka flew forward, attempting to attack him, but before she landed a strike, he dipped under her strike, the wind pressure from her strike cutting his cheek. In the next second he sliced her hand with precision.

By her surprise, the man's attack caused her to lose control of her body, making her fall to the ground. The wings on her back disappeared, leaving a large gash where her shoulder blades are.

The evil aura disappeared from her body, and she let out a huge screech, shaking the earth to its core.

Losing consciousness, she asked a question.

"What just happened!!?"

By the man's surprise, the voice wasn't a woman's, it was demonic...evil, as if someone took over her body.

"I guess I'll indulge you, since I doubt you'll remember anyways. With this power, when I draw a picture of someone's future or a future event, it becomes a reality. My drawings act as blueprints for what's to come, shaping the course of destiny. However, I don't like using this power, as it comes with unknown consequences. You see, altering fate is a dangerous thing. It can have unpredictable repercussions."

The thing controlling Taka laughed uncomfortably.

"I'LL REMEMBER THAT NEXT TIME!!"

Taka finally passed out, falling face forward into the ground.

"Now... What shall we do with you?"

The man looked concerned, wondering if it was a smart idea to keep her alive.

"I guess I'll contact them."

The man grabbed a phone out of his kimono.

Putting the phone up to his ear, the phone rang a few times, then a clicking sound was made.

"Hello, this is Konto Rōtasu, 6th Captain of Elimination Squad 2. I have found and eliminated the Colossal. However, there have been some unexpected events during this time. I'm bringing in another hostia. Please send someone to take care of the body, and please send regards to the victim's parents."

Konto then hung up the phone, stuffed it back in his kimono, then picked up Taka.

In an instant, a giant beam of light shot down, enveloping the two of them, before lifting them up into the sky.
