While Sheila focused on keeping the young man calm, other employees who were moving boxes approached to see what had happened.
Some of them, perhaps used to joking among themselves, tried to cheer up the boy with comments that were meant to be encouraging, but weren't very helpful.
"Come on, get up, man," said one of them, patting the young man's back.
"It's not that bad. A sprain is nothing serious."
Another joined in with a laugh.
"Yeah, tough it out like a man. It's just a little stumble."
Sheila raised her head, giving them a withering look.
"A sprain is not something to be taken lightly," Sheila said firmly. "If not treated properly, it could get worse. So stop pressuring him and give me space to work."
The colleagues, surprised by Sheila's serious tone, stepped back a bit, giving her the necessary space to continue her assessment without distractions.
At that moment, the manager arrived with the first aid kit in hand.
