"Just because it's you…" Sheila said softly.
Sheila couldn't believe what she was doing, but it was too late to back out now.
"Oh?"
"I'll explain it to you one last time, but listen carefully!" Sheila exclaimed, exasperated to vent her frustration.
"I'm all ears," Benjamin replied immediately.
"I…" Sheila took a breath.
"Yes…"
"I think I didn't fully pay for my stay at the hotel where we met," Sheila explained in a rather rushed tone.
Luckily, Benjamin had been paying enough attention to grasp about 73% of what she said.
Silence.
The call between them fell into an awkward silence that sent Sheila into a panic.
Did he not hear her?
Did she say something wrong?
Maybe she should never have said that!
Suddenly, Benjamin burst out laughing on the other end of the line.
'What's this jerk laughing about?' Sheila thought, annoyed as she awaited a response from him.
