Chapter 7 - Chapter 6 – The Taxi

Taking several deep breaths, Sheila sat in the area where people waited for taxis, but suddenly the rain started to fall harder.

How could she have such bad luck?

When Sheila finished her date with Blortus, they both said goodbye so naturally and quickly that... they didn't exchange phone numbers!

'Maybe he didn't like me?' Sheila wondered, but she soon returned to reality as she felt the drops of water splashing from the ground.

The rain was intense.

Was it really not going to stop?

Of all the things she had packed in her suitcase, Sheila didn't have an umbrella, so she couldn't go out to catch a taxi without getting soaked along with her small suitcase.

Sheila looked around but didn't see anyone selling umbrellas.

'Maybe I should go back inside the airport to see if I can find a store that sells them,' she thought.

'No, better wait a moment... I don't think the rain will last that long.'

But to her surprise, the rain kept increasing, and people with umbrellas couldn't go out to catch taxis either.

Then a line started to form to take the taxis that passed near the roof, but definitely, if she waited there without an umbrella, she would end up soaked.

Taking her phone out of her pocket, Sheila turned it on and saw that, according to the weather report, today was supposed to be sunny.

Sitting on a large bench further inside the airport, it gradually filled up with more people due to the intense rain.

Getting up from the bench, Sheila decided to look for another place to catch a taxi without getting wet.

As she stood up and grabbed her suitcase, a familiar voice called out to her.

"Treit, so you were here."

It was Blortus!

But strangely... he looked tired.

"It was hard to find you."

"You look... sweaty," Sheila said after giving him a look up and down.

"Well... there's nothing better than moving the body after a good meal and after sitting for over four hours on a flight, right?"

Does he exercise even when he's dressed in that suit?

Undoubtedly, he was a strange businessman.

Even so, a question crossed Sheila's mind:

'Why is he here?'

Their goodbye had been so quick that Sheila thought Blortus had important matters to attend to, but now he was here.

How strange.

"Are you waiting for a taxi? Or is someone coming to pick you up?" Blortus asked, snapping Sheila out of her trance.

"I'm waiting for a taxi."

"Oh, great. If you want, I can take you or I can pay for the taxis that are further inside the airport so you don't get wet."

Since Sheila had followed the crowd when she separated from Blortus and didn't know this airport well, she had gone along with the masses, ending up where the cheap taxis stopped outside the airport.

"Don't worry, I have money... where are those taxis?"

"Let me guide you."

So Sheila started to follow Blortus. Even so, something was bothering her.

Why had he left her alone before?

Did he really just go to exercise?

Blortus, noticing Sheila's piercing gaze as she adjusted her hair, asked:

"Do I have a stain on my face?"

"Why did you leave?"

Blortus, hearing that question, couldn't help but laugh. From his perspective, Sheila looked so cute when she was angry.

"I didn't leave, you were the one who rushed off like a rabbit," Blortus explained, but from Sheila's point of view... that didn't make sense.

"You were the one who left," Sheila remarked again.

"No, it was you."

"Explain," Sheila said, frowning.

"Don't you remember? Once we finished eating, you got up so excited that I thought someone had called you. So we left the restaurant, and when I realized it, I had lost sight of you."

That explanation didn't make any sense.

How did she...?

"We're here," Blortus said.

Sheila noticed a somewhat emptier place, full of black cars in which people dressed very formally were getting in, which was the complete opposite of what Sheila was wearing at the time.

"Where are we?"

"It's a special taxi line. It's already paid for," Blortus said, pointing to a taxi with the door open.

This didn't give Sheila a good feeling, but... right now she just wanted to rest.

Besides, if Blortus' version was true... wasn't it logical to accept his help and be done with it?

Sheila handed her luggage to Blortus, who put it in the car's trunk. After that, the uniformed man asked Sheila:

"Where would you like to go, miss?"

"Take me to the best hotel," Sheila indicated, sitting in a comfortable position.

Blortus said goodbye to her through the window before the taxi started to move.

Again, everything happened so quickly for both of them that they had forgotten to exchange phone numbers.
