"Tell Ethan not to search anymore. She's here," Benjamin replied while keeping his calm.
Benjamin had gotten up from the table to answer his phone because he kept receiving calls from Victoria.
Having an idea of why she was calling, he decided it was time to reveal her whereabouts.
"Why didn't you tell us before, idiot!? Do you not know how to notify or send a damn message? I know you're a clown, but this is too much," Victoria said angrily.
"I understand, but you have to understand that I'm in a complicated situation, you know?" Benjamin said as he looked at himself in the mirror to fix his hair.
"You?" Victoria asked incredulously, unable to imagine that this sly fox in human skin was in any trouble.
"Tell Ethan to go pick up Sophia at the hotel where we were yesterday."
"Hotel?" Victoria repeated angrily.
'Here we go...', Benjamin thought as he moved his phone away from his ear.
"Don't you dare take Sophia to a hotel that has casinos, you hear?" Victoria said in a threatening tone.
"The one we went to yesterday doesn't have any casinos," Benjamin replied as he brought his phone closer again.
"Then say the name of the damn hotel!" Victoria shouted angrily.
"I can't," Benjamin replied instantly.
"Why!?" Victoria asked immediately.
Benjamin knew that, just like with Sophia, he was going to get into a push and pull with Victoria if he didn't end this conversation now.
"Don't ruin the surprise. I'll pay you back later," Benjamin said before hanging up the call.
A few seconds later, Victoria called him again, but he didn't answer.
Leaving the bathroom, Benjamin returned to the table where the girls were chatting, and to his surprise, both were eating a cup full of ice cream with their spoons.
'Did they really order more?' Benjamin wondered as he finished approaching, and luckily for him, they had also ordered an ice cream for him. However, upon closer inspection of his cup, he noticed that someone had already taken a bite with their spoon.
Sophia tried to continue her conversation with Sheila naturally, but she couldn't help getting nervous when she felt Benjamin's gaze on her.
"Well, we have to go. I already told your sister that I sent your brother to pick you up at the hotel," Benjamin explained while trying the ice cream they had left him.
Sophia's eyes lit up upon hearing this news.
She could spend more time with Treit!
Despite having just met, Treit had made a good impression on her because it was fun how she avoided his questions about her abilities.
Sheila, upon hearing this news, let out a nervous laugh, as she didn't expect Sophia to be such an... energetic girl.
Even so, she had to start thinking of new excuses and ways to cover her identity because that girl was too curious.
"Well, seeing that you get along well, I have nothing to worry about. Treit, does your new phone line work yet?" Benjamin asked as he finished his ice cream.
'How fast!' the girls thought as they saw his cup empty while theirs... they had barely finished half.
Benjamin masked the pain caused by eating ice cream so quickly with a smile.
"No, I've checked three times and nothing..." Sheila responded with a sigh.
"Did you turn airplane mode on and off?" Benjamin asked, frowning.
"Yes, if you want, check it," Sheila said as she took the phone out of her pocket for him to check.
"Wow, how easily you hand over your phone. It shows you have nothing to hide," Benjamin said in a mocking tone.
"It's new, dummy," Sheila replied instantly.
Benjamin went to the options, turned on airplane mode, counted five seconds, and then turned it off.
"Done," Benjamin said as he handed her phone back to Sheila. To her surprise... her phone now had a signal.
"What did you do?" Sheila asked, confused.
"Magic," Benjamin replied instantly.
"I saw him turn airplane mode on and off," Sophia said, raising her hand.
"Well done, you ruined the trick."
Since neither of the girls finished their ice creams, they ended up taking them to Benjamin's car, which he asked Sheila to return his keys.
"Here," Sheila said as she handed over his keys. The truth was she had completely forgotten she had them.
Benjamin was going to take the driver's seat because he wanted to show Sheila what it was like to drive the beast, but something he never expected...
'Impossible...', Benjamin thought as he analyzed the state of his car's engine.
The beast had been wrecked.
