Chapter 15 - Chapter 14 – Let´s Have Breakfast

Sheila left her room with her small bag on her shoulder and headed toward the elevator.

While waiting for the doors to open, she wondered where she could find an emergency charger.

Maybe she could ask for one at the reception?

When she reached the lobby, she headed to the reception desk to explain her problem.

The staff tried to help her, but they couldn't find a charger compatible with her phone.

Soon, Sheila heard a voice behind her.

"Treit."

Turning around at the sound of that name, she saw a face that seemed familiar, but...

She couldn't recognize it.

'What? How does he know that name?' Sheila wondered as she analyzed the person in front of her.

Red hair, green eyes, black leather outfit...

Nothing!

Sheila didn't remember knowing anyone like that, but...

"Hello, good morning," Sheila said somewhat bewildered.

"And what are you doing here at this hour? Are you going to have breakfast?" asked the man as he approached Sheila.

"No, we don't have this type of charger, miss," said an employee coming out of a staff-only door.

Sheila had entrusted them with her phone to see if anyone had a compatible charger, but she didn't really expect no one to have one.

"Oh, I know that phone. Are you looking for a charger for it?" asked the man who had greeted her earlier.

Sheila nodded her head.

"Okay, wait here. I'll be back in 5 minutes," said the man as he went back to the elevator.

Although Sheila felt lucky to find someone who had the charger she needed, she couldn't help feeling bad for not being able to remember the man's name.

What if he was lying to her?

While it was a possibility, Sheila decided to gamble on waiting while trying to remember who this guy was.

'What's his name? Do I really know him?' Sheila wondered, as she didn't remember knowing anyone like that.

But a part of her...

Maybe it was his voice?

Yes, his voice sounded familiar.

It wasn't the same as Blortus', but... where did she meet him?

"I'm back," said the man as he touched Sheila's shoulder.

"Wow, you really didn't move an inch, Treit. Were you a lamppost in your past life?" asked the man sarcastically as he handed her a charger which...

"Hey."

"What?"

"This charger..."

Seeing Sheila's confused face, the man let out a small laugh and then asked:

"Oh, is this the first time you've seen a universal charger?"

"Universal charger...?" Sheila repeated, confused.

What was a universal charger?

It was the first time she had heard of such a thing.

"I'll explain in a moment. First, give me your phone, and let's have some breakfast," declared the man with a mischievous smile.

Nodding out of courtesy, Sheila was guided by the man to the restaurant where she had eaten yesterday.

As they entered the place, Sheila couldn't help but feel something was out of place, but she needed to charge her phone as soon as possible.

She needed to contact the Barkers and the rest of her contacts.

Once they reached the upper floor, they chose a table near a socket.

The man quickly opened the back of Sheila's phone to remove the battery and put it to charge in the universal charger.

Sheila watched this in amazement, as it was the first time she had seen her phone being opened.

Sitting at the table, the man left the rest of Sheila's phone on the table before asking:

"What do you want to order this time?"

Had they eaten before?

Playing along, Sheila replied:

"I think a light breakfast would be ideal. Maybe some fresh fruit and a croissant."

The man nodded several times at that idea.

"Sounds good, but I would add some protein. Maybe some scrambled eggs and a bit of ham."

Sheila smiled at that suggestion.

"That sounds perfect. It seems like a good combination."

After several minutes discussing other options on the menu, they finally decided and called the waiter.

"We'll have a plate of fresh fruit, two croissants, scrambled eggs with ham, and two coffees, please," said the man to the waiter.

When the waiter left, Sheila made a decision.

Even though this man was a bit strange, he didn't seem like a bad person.

Deciding to be honest, Sheila said:

"Sorry if I sound rude, but have we met before? Your voice sounds very familiar."

Silence.

For a moment, Sheila saw the man freeze before bursting into laughter.

What?

Had she told a joke?
