Eiera and Rin showed their identical bracelets to Aiden, and Rin said, "We also have one."
Aiden responded with a mocking tone, "So, should I be afraid of him, too."
Eiera said to Aiden, "You have no idea what Kai is capable of."
Aiden responded with an evil smirk, "We'll see about that."
After Aiden responded, Luna flew over Eiera's shoulder, and they continued to follow the Eternal Blade. The group followed the blade through the hills, but as they traveled, the greenery began to diminish.
Nine hours later, the group had entered a desert in the middle of nowhere. There were just sand dunes everywhere they looked. Raven and Starlight, both horses, had reached their limits. Aiden, Eiera, and Rin dismounted their horses and started to walk beside them while Luna was still sitting on Eiera's shoulder.
The day had reached its golden hour, and the sun was about to set, but the group couldn't spot Kai. They looked as far as their eyes could see. Everyone was tired but still managed to follow the Eternal Blade.
Aiden, holding Raven's leash with his right hand, pulled out the dagger Kai had given to him from his armor belt with his other hand and showed it to Eiera.
"I was thinking about it for some time. If that bracelet is supposed to protect me, so what's this for?" Aiden asked.
Eiera, holding Starlight's leash while walking beside her Eiera responded. "That dagger is there to protect you from Kai."
After hearing Eiera's response, Aiden got more confused and asked again. "What do you mean by that?"
Eiera replied, "That dagger is dipped in the essence of Nocturnium wood, a single scratch of it can paralyze an elephant for days."
Aiden spoke again, "I know what Nocturnium does, and that's not what I asked you. I want to know, why would I need this against him? Aiden continued, "So, tell me, why would I need to use this against him?"
Eiera hesitated to answer Aiden's question, but after a lot of thinking, she responded to him. "I think it's better for you to know the truth. Kai often loses control of himself, and when that happens. He will kill anyone who stands in his way, doesn't matter if that person is his sister, me, or you." Eiera continued, " Since no magic affects him. Kai had to come up with a solution to calm his anger. That dagger can help Kai regain his conciseness and calm his anger."
Aiden looks at Eiera, multiple questions flowing in his mind. He inquired, "Has he..." Aiden hesitated to ask.
Luna said to Aiden, "What is it? You can ask us."
"I mean, has he attacked one of his comrades," Aiden inquired.
As Eiera and Rin heard Aiden's question, their facial expression immediately got sober. They didn't respond to Aiden.
Luna spoke over from Eiera's shoulder and said to Aiden. "Aiden, there are some things that should be untold." Her voice was filled with concern for Kai.
Aiden's lips curled up into a creepy smile as he said, "That means he has. Tell me, who did he attack?"
After Hearing Aiden's words, Eiera stopped walking. She looked at Aiden, her eyes filled with fury, "LOOK...."
"LOOK!" Rin interrupted Eiera.
"NOT NOW, RIN!" Eiera responded.
"No, The Blade is going away," Rin said.
As Rin Spoke, Eiera looked in the direction Rin was pointing at. She saw the Eternal Blade flying high in the sky and flying away from them at extreme speed.
Everyone's attention was diverted to the flying Blade, as the group looked in the direction the Blade was going. They saw Kai sitting on Shadow, standing at a distance from them. The Eternal Blade landed in his hand. Kai put the Eternal Blade in his armor belt.
Kai approached the group with Shadow. As he reached the group, he dismounted Shadow. Kai immediately noticed Eiera's anger and asked her, "Is something wrong?"
Before Eiera could tell Kai something, Luna spoke from Eiera's shoulder. "We have been going for almost ten hours. We are hungry and tired."
Kai replied, "I was waiting for you guys. The tent is ready, the food is prepared, go and enjoy." Kai continued, "I'll feed Raven and Starlight." Kai's voice was gentle and calm.
