Chereads / Solitary Vampire / Chapter 41 - Jake’s Gang

Chapter 41 - Jake’s Gang

Dark clouds loom over the military base with rain dropping to the ground making a pitter-patter sound.

The smell of dew drops and humidity made one feel the calm of the falling tears of the sky.

Aiden and Lucas where walking around in that very scenery.

With the protection of Lucas, Aiden was able to get back to their dorm without bumming into Jake or his group.

"I call dibs on showering first." Lucas said while he quickly headed to the bathroom.

Looked like he didn't need to use just the bathroom, waddling away like a penguin.

Aiden stood there thinking about something else.

Everything that happened in the canyon was going to be hard for everyone to bounce back up, though Lucas seemed to have no problem with that.

He thought back on how he wasn't much help whatsoever in such a dangerous situation.

After being bullied relentlessly and was still standing in the end, after he had awakened he thought that he would finally be able to fight for his own life.

But the drake was to strong.

Since he had awakened, he was able to tell if someone was stronger or not from their aura although it wasn't visible and the mana leaked from their Core.

The aura pressure was the talent of the soul and the more mana leaked, the strong they were.

The reason why mana leaks happened in the first place is because of how little impurities they have.

There are ways to keep one's mana from leaking, but does a beast really need to know that?

The drake was definitely on the level of a 5 Spark Noble.

It was his first time ever experiencing something like that.

The school hadn't really got into deep detail of those above the first stage as the base didn't expect students to get to such a level so quickly.

Of course there are exceptions when it comes to fast awakeners.

But Aiden was just a normal awaken, even below average.

'Why did I had to be dragged into this..'

Sure, he wanted to get stronger like everyone else, but his wasn't obsessed with it.

Of course that would change the next day, though he didn't know.

Lucas got out of the bathroom with fresh new clothes and immediately face-planted his face on the bed.

He had already gone to dream world.

Aiden did the same after Lucas and their roommate had just came back.

"Woah you too look like a mess, what happened at Olreon for you?"

Aiden ignored his roommate's existence though because of tiredness.

He frowned and pouted, stomping off to his bed, without showering.

Lucas had chosen to skip the next day.

Not like the military could do anything about that.

He stood in a training arena that had quite a few people in it, staring off into the distance.

He wasn't using his 5 senses of the physical body like most people but rather his space affinity to take in the surroundings and turn it into information his brain can process.

This was one of the training those of the space affinity could do, but Lucas wanted to take it a step further.

But before he could try a new approach to the training method, the doors to the arena slid open and everyone in the arena lowered their voice upon seeing who it was.

Lucas also stopped his training to look at the doors.

Who came in were notable people from Jake's little gang.

Almost everyone in his gang were second or third year's, and most here had just started their year here.

One would find first year's in public training arena because those of the second year would have gotten enough money to rent their own private training room.

So the lackeys that had just came in here surely didn't come for training.

They came up to Lucas who was facing them.

The guy who was infront of them stepped up and spoke to him.

"Hey.. heard you where good friends with Aiden. Do you know where he is?"

Lucas had wanted to taunt them by saying 'why should I tell you' but kept his head cool and slowly said with a blank poker-face.

"No, I don't"

"Are you sure?"

"I'm more sure than you."

"Ah, well in that case why don't you come with us to find him together?"

"No thanks. As you can see, I'm training right now."

"Oh? That's a shame."

With that, the lackeys left the arena and voices of the other students didn't pick up until 30 seconds later.

Lucas sighed before continuing on his training.

Lucas chose not to worry about Aiden because he had stayed in the dorm, also skipping class.

He wouldn't have done it if it wasn't from Lucas's suggestion to stay in the dorm until the coast was clear.

"Continue to have power over the students."

"Alright…"

Getting off of a hologram call, Jake thought about his sponsor.

His was strange, knowing everything yet needed weekly reports from Jake.

'Well whatever, he's my ticket to getting a high-leveled position in the military.'

His only request was to take over the student hierarchy and give reports on the military base.

If the military knew of what he was doing, they would have long since killed him.

But yet, whenever Jake made contact with the man, the military never found out.

All he could called his sponsor of his was that he was a slippery worm.

He could tell the military about this but if he does this as a student, he won't get as many rewards as an officer will.

A knock echoed through the room and the group from before entered the dorm room.

The third year student in front put their head down while saying.

"Sorry boss, we didn't find Aiden. He might be at his dorm."

"Tsk."

Dealing with that Lucas guy had been one of his plans but Aiden and Lucas had suddenly not been seen anywhere after the first day of the trip.

Or at least that's what the first year's under him had said.

'Just how do we get him out..'
