Chapter 17 - LA

I woke up quite late and the room was still dark since I drew the curtains closed before falling asleep last night. It was quite a surreal feeling taking my first flight as an adult and setting out to a foreign place on my own. It was honestly quite a bit draining and I got a hotel nearby as soon as I touched down. Today I wanted to take an uber to look around Downtown LA since that was where I would be settling down for a while.

After stretching and lingering in the bed for a while, I sat up and started thinking, 'Before I got here, I was thinking on what to do if I should prioritize buying a house before anything else. Right now, I am tempted on buying a house in the super rich neighborhoods like Beverly Hills, Malibu and Bel Air and interact with such folks to broaden my horizons. But on second thoughts I just got here and I don't even know anything essential of this city so I should get a place closer to the city center since I really wanted to explore and be more in tune with the city of LA '.

I didn't waste time this morning and washed up before checking out after calling an uber. Since it was daytime, I got to appreciate the sights more and got quite excited. Since I wasn't really familiar with the city, I struck up conversation with the driver, and asked for some recommendation on a nice hotel to stay for a while. He asked if I was staying for a long time and I gave a very vague answer since I wasn't going to blindly trust a random person with details of my stay. After some suggestions he gave, I decided to go along with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Reaching the destination, I tipped him extra and gave him 5 stars because he was quite helpful and he was patient in answering my questions. The hotel looked quite luxurious and the lady at lady at the front desk was very polite. I had to say that just the very few minutes i had spent here since stepping foot into the hotel told me how professional they were so I took a look at the room prices and booked the executive suite.

After checking in at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, I decided to spend the rest of my day relaxing in my luxurious room. As I settled down on the plush bed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort wash over me. I had come a long way from my old life and was now living the dream. A thought crossed my mind, 'I should make a list of things I want to do while I'm here. First and foremost, I need to find a job. But what kind of job? Do I want to continue with the writing industry or try something new?'

I took out my phone and started searching for jobs online. There were plenty of options in the entertainment industry, but I knew I wanted something more stable. I stumbled upon an advertisement for a convention for content creators and was all inclusive for creators, anime enthusiasts and comic fans. This gave me the idea that I had a cheat in the form of a system and didn't have to go the corporate route. I could just try to be a content creator since I was already familiar with that environment and I was going to do it for fun anyways.

After deciding on my career choice for the immediate future, I decided to explore the city a bit more. I wanted to get a feel for the area and see what it had to offer. I wandered around Downtown LA, marveling at the tall skyscrapers and bustling streets. I stopped by a nearby coffee shop and ordered a latte, watching people go about their daily routines. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed being surrounded by such energy and diversity.

I decided to continue the list of the things I had to check off before I could start in the direction I wanted to take for the career I would pursue since I couldn't laze around all day doing nothing for the rest of my life.

So for starters, I had to get a house and also take advantage of the spending token I had. As for the house, I decided to get a penthouse luxury apartment in Downtown since I had fantasized about such things before. I went with an apartment because I ultimately knew I wouldn't be settling down here in the long run but having a place here would solve a lot of inconveniences.

As I sipped my coffee, I couldn't help but notice a gorgeous penthouse apartment across the street. It was everything I had ever dreamed of - spacious, modern, and with an unbeatable view of the city. I made a mental note to check it out later. For now, I had more exploring to do.

I decided to walk to the financial district, fascinated by the towering skyscrapers and the bustling energy of the area. I passed by a few car dealerships and found myself drawn to a sleek, black Jeep. It had just the right amount of luxury and power that I was looking for. I test-drove it, feeling the smooth ride and appreciating the comfortable interior.

"Do you need any help with that, Sir?" asked a friendly salesman as I emerged from the car. "I can show you our selection of vehicles if you're interested."

"No, thank you," I replied, handing him back my license that I got in my late teens but never used and my bank card. "I think I've found what I'm looking for." I signed the papers and drove the Jeep off the lot, feeling a sense of accomplishment and excitement wash over me. This car was not the conventional sports car that focused on speed or a luxury car that focused on comfort. This car felt powerful and cool. At this moment I wish I had glasses on, if so I would have rolled down the windows and flashed a smile at anybody that bothered to look. Now all that I had left to take care of was the apartment.

As I made my way back to the Ritz-Carlton, I couldn't help but marvel at the city around me. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm glow over the skyline. The air was thick with the smell of exhaust fumes and delicious street food. I couldn't wait to see what tomorrow would bring.
