Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Awakening

Alex's eyelids fluttered open, revealing a dimly lit room cloaked in shadows. His senses slowly awakened, registering the faint buzz of fluorescent lights overhead and the musty scent of aged carpet that filled the air. Confusion clouded his mind as he attempted to make sense of his surroundings.

He attempted to sit up, his muscles protesting against the unfamiliar movement. As he glanced around, panic seized him, his heart pounding in his chest. Where was he? This wasn't his bedroom, nor any place he recognized. The walls, stained with a sickly yellow hue, closed in around him, suffocating him with their oppressive presence.

With trembling hands, Alex reached for his phone, instinctively seeking solace in the familiar device. But as his fingers fumbled through his pockets, they closed around something cold and foreign—a sleek object he didn't recognize. His brow furrowed in confusion as he pulled it out, studying its smooth surface and glowing screen.

Without hesitation, he pressed the power button, and the screen illuminated the darkness, casting an eerie glow across the room. A message materialized on the display, stark white letters against the inky blackness.

"Welcome to the Backrooms, traveler," the message read. "It seems you've stumbled into a realm beyond the bounds of reality—a place where the laws of physics cease to apply."

Alex's pulse quickened as he read the words, a chill running down his spine. The Backrooms? It sounded like something out of a horror movie, a twisted nightmare he couldn't wake up from.

With trembling fingers, he scrolled through the message, devouring every word in search of answers. The device spoke of a labyrinthine dimension filled with endless corridors and hidden dangers—a realm where time and space twisted and turned in ways he couldn't begin to imagine.

Fear gnawed at Alex's insides as he struggled to comprehend the gravity of the situation. How had he ended up here? And more importantly, how could he escape?

As the implications of his predicament sank in, Alex felt a sense of desperation rising within him. He had to find a way out, no matter the cost. But first, he needed to make sense of his surroundings.

With a deep breath, Alex rose to his feet, his movements cautious as he surveyed the room. The walls seemed to stretch out endlessly, the corridors twisting and turning in every direction. It was like something out of a nightmare—a maze with no end in sight.

As he took a tentative step forward, his senses on high alert, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. The silence was deafening, broken only by the distant hum of the fluorescent lights and the soft rustle of the aging carpet beneath his feet.

As he ventured further into the unknown, his mind racing with a million questions and fears. Little did he know that his journey was only just beginning, and that the true horrors of the Backrooms awaited him in the depths of its twisted corridors.

As for Alex, before finding himself trapped in the Backrooms, he was an ordinary college student, navigating the ups and downs of university life with a mix of excitement and trepidation. He had dreams and aspirations, just like any other young adult, but now, those dreams seemed like a distant memory as he grappled with the harsh reality of his new existence.
