His question made me take a large step back, as the reality of what I had almost forgotten in that moment began to kick in.

As crazy as that sounds, hearing his disheartened tone, and seeing his downcast demeanor softened me up a bit.
Maybe I wasn't reading him correctly, maybe there was something about this man that I overlooked.

"You should cover up those wounds, before you get an infection." I told him, making a lousy attempt to change the topic. Ferrari complied, taking the clothes he had already picked out from the crumpled sheets, and retiring to the bathroom to change.
