Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Delaney alighted in front of the vast building where Blaine worked. She stood transfixed, her eyes wide with wonder as she stared at the towering building before her. As she took in the sleek design and the gleaming glass facade, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mingled with a touch of apprehension.

She felt excited because the opportunity was finally here, and now, she gets to step foot into a place she could never step into, except in her dreams and wild imaginations.

She's always admired this beautiful place for so long, wondering what it feels and looks like inside. And sometimes, when her imagination gets the best of her, she'd close her eyes and imagine herself working here and being like every other successful lady she sees and admires.

But she felt really nervous going in there because she already knew what caliber of people she'd come across, and she couldn't help but feel a little out of place.

Delaney took in a deep breath as she made her way into the busy building. She saw a lot of people, smartly dressed, going about their jobs with every sense of seriousness they could. She summoned more courage and steadied her steps, acting more confident than she actually was. That's one thing she's good at... 'Acting like everything is okay when in the real sense, it's not.'

As she walked by, she couldn't deny that she noticed the constant stares she was getting from people, both men and ladies, which increased her confidence.

Delaney's beauty was out of this world. She's a stunning, irresistible woman who turns heads wherever she goes; that's a fact she needed no one to tell her. She was sculpted to perfection - sculpted for sin.

She was the kind of woman who could make even the most confident men stumble over their words... Yet, behind all the perfect looks, there was a woman who craved love, affection, and attention. Every damn person sees, appreciates, and drools over her beauty except her family and, even worse, Blaine. 'Sad.'

She stopped at a corner, brought out her phone, and dialed his line, and he answered the phone immediately.

Blaine hurriedly answered the phone immediately it rang.

"I am at the reception," Delaney's tender voice informed him.

Just as he parted his lips to respond, he was interrupted by Adonis' voice. "Let Iris show her in," He instructed.

Blaine knew better than to argue with his boss. "Tell the receptionist Iris to bring you to Mr. Langston's office."

"Alright." She dropped the call.

Adonis was insistent on the documents being delivered directly to his office by the person who had brought them because he didn't want to let Blain out of his sight even for a second. He intended to catch him off guard this time around.

He's harbored a growing suspicion for some time that there was something fishy about Blaine, and he was already piecing together the clues that would confirm this. And If his suspicions are proven correct, the consequences would be dire for Blaine, potentially resulting in a lifetime of imprisonment.

In less than two minutes after the call, the receptionist, Iris, appeared at the door, announcing Delaney's arrival with a polite nod of her head. Adonis signaled Iris to let the lady in, his gaze fixed with rapt attention on the essential documents he was going through.

In all her grace, Delaney took slow but steady steps into the vast office space that obviously belonged to just one person. Her deep green eyes took a quick but detailed look around the beautiful interior, and a small inaudible gasp left her lips. 'truly befitting for all it's worth,' she thought to herself.

By the time she was done surveying the beautiful office, she was already standing before Blaine, whose eyes were fixed on her. His expression was unreadable, holding several emotions, including lust and anger.

He looked like he was going to rip her off her dress, probably because he liked that she looked irresistible or because he didn't like the fact that she dressed in the same way he never appreciated. For some reason she couldn't tell, he hated it when she flaunted her beauty both in and outside the house.

"Hey babe," She nervously greeted him with a forced smile, trying to act all modest and polite.

"Hi, Delaney." Came his brief response.

She let out a smile as she greeted him. She's finally face-to-face with the devil himself. The thoughts going on in her head made her laugh so hard inwardly, praying to the heavens not to ruin this short visit with her silly thoughts.

"Good day, Mr. Langston. It's a pleasure seeing you," She greeted the man who instilled fear in many people.

And for the first time, since the lady walked into his office, Adonis slowly lifted his gaze to look at her... From her straight legs that radiated like the rays of sunlight in summer to the red gown that hugged her body perfectly well, carefully outlining her trimmed waist and wide, full hips that hinted at her underlying sensuality. He felt his cock twitch.

Eagerly, his gaze went straight for the face of the bearer of such a mystical body capable of making a man like him burn with something strange, and more so, a man like him who was never moved by just any woman.

As soon as his ocean-blue eyes landed on her face, his whole world seemed to halt suddenly. The air around him grew thick with palpable tension. His eyes narrowed in sudden and intense focus, his heart racing with a mixture of shock and disbelief when his gaze locked onto the woman before him.

She was a vision of stunning beauty, her features etched with a delicate grace that took his breath away. Her eyes... Same green shades he could never forget.

He drank in the sight of her, his gaze raking over every inch of her exquisite form, from the dimples that decorated her flawless face to the silken tresses of her chestnut brown hair, down to the curve of her hips and the delicate arch of her neck that bore the most beautiful birthmark he'd ever seen.

He felt as though he had been struck by a bolt of lightning; the memories of that fateful night when he had first fallen under her spell came flooding back to him in a rush.

It was her... the mysterious woman he had searched for all these years, the one who had captured his heart completely and vanished without a trace.

The weight of his longing bore down upon him, leaving him reeling with a sense of both joy and anger.
