Chapter 164 - Chapter 164 This Deal is a Winner

Understanding the provisions of the new law and devising countermeasures, Cart and Goodman had a rough idea by now.

The rest could be taken care of slowly in the future.

Before leaving, Cart took a look at the teller's area. Despite the considerable amount of time that had passed, Cart still didn't fully understand the actual job responsibilities of bank tellers these days.

To his surprise, the bank tellers of today, especially in small banks like Blake Bank, were all-rounders! Not only were they attractive and stylish, but they were also highly efficient in their work.

In a small bank like Blake Bank, there wasn't a clear distinction between front-office and back-office work. Almost every bank teller could handle tasks like check identification, acceptance, cashing, as well as back-office tasks like sending settlement requests and processing transaction requests.

Watching these tellers swiftly identify checks and pass them to the next teller for consolidation at a speed comparable to modern-day cashiers, Cart couldn't help but feel something was off.

Although they seemed incredibly busy, the volume of business they handled was actually quite limited. After all, Douglas was just a small town, and even though there were some transactions, they were not as numerous as in big cities. With only eight tellers, even if they were as efficient as octopuses, they couldn't handle too much workload.

After observing for a while, Cart headed home.

The house didn't look much different from before Anna left. Jenny, who had been a bit sentimental the first two days, had fully recovered now. However, today seemed a bit different.

"Jenny? Are we going out for dinner tonight?"

Taking off his shoes and slipping into slippers, Cart looked at Jenny, who was sitting on the couch, not watching TV, with some curiosity.

"Come here! Sit down!"

With a stern face, Jenny patted the couch.

"Have you been neglecting your homework lately?"

Huh?

Cart was taken aback. He had just said there was no one to supervise him now, and how come now he was being treated like a child by a parent?!

"Mrs. Mary called me this afternoon. We understand that you're busy, but if you don't do your homework, what will you use to take the SAT test?"

"When you're really busy, you can put your homework aside for a while, but you can't ignore it forever. Mrs. Mary cares about you a lot. She always says you have good grades and strong learning ability. You can't waste your talent, Cart."

"Leave the bank's affairs to Goodman! He's been with your father for so many years, and he takes care of most things most of the time. He's been fine all these years, can't he manage without you?"

"I know! I'll find time to deal with it!"

Watching Jenny's stern expression, Cart nodded awkwardly. He didn't bother to explain that Goodman had no problem handling day-to-day tasks, but strategic planning for the future was another matter.

After all, Jenny meant well. Cart wasn't ungrateful, but about this homework.

"Kazim, hurry up, copy my homework for me!"

The next morning, instead of going to his own classroom as usual, Cart went straight to his black little brother. It would take so much time to write down twenty days' worth of homework one by one!

Besides, he had listened to the lessons.

"No, do you want me to do your homework, or do you want to copy mine?"

Surprised to see the mountain of homework suddenly piled up in front of him, Kazim pointed at himself in bewilderment. That clever black man's expression made Cart's eyes twitch.

Indeed, copying this guy's homework was worse than not turning it in at all. As a top student, the trouble with copying homework was that most people's grades would be lower than yours. And once your accuracy drops significantly, everyone knows something is wrong.

Looking around at the classmates who were mostly idiots

He seemed to have become the elder brother of Elmond, which was unbelievable!

As Cart considered whether to be the elder brother directly and slap the homework in front of some bookworms and then threaten them with a sinister smile to do his homework, Kazim cleverly spoke up again:

"Why don't you try asking Nicole? Her level is much better than yours. Oh, by the way, have you two started dating?"

Hmm?

Has the great cleverness become truly clever?!

Cart looked at Kazim in astonishment, then shook his head repeatedly:

"Not yet, I'm busy now. Bye!"

Saying that, Cart stuffed the homework into his bag and then

"Wait! There's one more thing, I was just about to find you!"

"What's up?"

"O'Neil asked me to ask you if there's any suitable work for them. They're in a bit of a difficult situation now."

Realizing the personal relationship in Kazim's words after two seconds, Cart suddenly smiled.

It made sense, after all. He had been so busy with the Trifari people recently that he had neglected O'Neil and them. Thinking about it, he had indeed managed to handle these matters so smoothly because O'Neil had helped a lot and given face.

"Yeah, there is. Tell Uncle Duke to let them know. Practice driving trucks more recently. I'll need some truck drivers later, but not too many, at most 20. As for other work, security? They might be interested, and I'm planning to recruit some security personnel soon. Sometimes there might be dangerous tasks."

"It's okay, we black people aren't afraid of danger! Thanks! I'll definitely pass on your words to them."

Truck drivers and security personnel were always needed. It wasn't a big deal to recruit some of O'Neil's people for Cart. After all, it wasn't a critical position.

After casually dealing with Kazim, Cart went to find Nicole with his little backpack. Nicole had undergone a great transformation in her appearance since before.

Wearing a slightly parted white blouse with a little lace, tucked into a light blue pencil skirt, revealing a pair of slender, straight, beautiful legs in high heels and black stockings. Just by looking at this outfit, Cart could guess the career direction Nicole had chosen: secretary!

In the vocational course classroom, facing the teasing gazes of the uniformed office ladies who hadn't started working yet, Cart smirked and, carrying his little backpack, approached Nicole.

"It's really rare that you know to find me?"

With a cold snort, Nicole's dissatisfaction was evident.

"Hehe, it's because I've been busy lately. Do me a favor, and I'll take you to New York later! How about that? This deal isn't bad, right?"
