The fortifications built by the Bearbreaker clan were made from wood gathered from the surrounding trees. In the North, most warriors didn't have just one occupation, and given the clan's lifestyle in the forest, many were quite skilled with woodwork.
The short walls, four meters tall, were filled with the clan's javelin throwers and archers. Some of the infantry stood alongside the ranged fighters to provide support in case the walls were scaled, while the majority waited behind the gates, ready to act.
Vidar, Bonar, and the other fourth-degree veteran warriors observed the approaching Hvítreiðr army. Rows of shielded infantry wielding swords, axemen, and spearmen advanced at the front, followed in orderly fashion by archers. On the flanks, deer cavalry patrolled the surroundings.
