Valerie kissed her mom's forehead and waved goodbye. She went to the living room where Flint was sitting in the rocking chair, watching the kids who were watching some movie.
She looked at the kids fondly. Marissa always made sure to let them stay in their room whenever she was around. She always tried her best to avoid facing her nieces and nephew.
Sometimes she wanted to talk to them and play with them like a normal aunt would do. But alas!
She was responsible for the mess and hence deserved to be kicked out of their lives. The little girl whose name was Ariel resembled her a lot. While watching the movie, her index finger was slowly rolling the hair strand around her finger. Something she had taken from Valerie. Valerie thought with a proud smile.
"Hello," she waved at the kids like she was their childhood buddy. The kids just gave her a non-interested gaze.
Flint was regarding her with a hawk-like stare.
