Chapter 215 The Mezzanine (III)
To Sol's left was the unmistakably familiar scarlet door of the necropolis.
And there were two more such gates in front of it, which meant that Saul came to the second floor of the East Tower.
"What on earth did Golza keep in the Sorcerer's Tower?" In that case Saul only dared to spit it out in his mind, "When I'm strong in the future, I'm going to tie these arms and fingers one by one into a death knot!"
After expressing his inner tension and depression, Saul began to have a headache again.
"It sure is painful to beat out mental energy as if it were magic power."
He ran all the way past the three corpse rooms and didn't stop until he came to the ramp at the end.
Suddenly he noticed another anomaly and braked just in time to stop at the corner of the hallway and the ramp.
There was the faint sound of human voices up ahead.
"So hungry, so hungry."
Saul frowned, a bad feeling suddenly welling up in his heart, "Not again, is there not a safe place in the East Tower at night?"
"So hungry!"
"So hungry!"
"So hungry! So hungry! So hungry! So hungry! So hungry!"
The voices suddenly began to grow louder, and from more and more places there came an intolerable sobbing.
The cries of hunger seemed to be coming from all directions, but whether Saul looked squarely at them or observed them through his semi-immersed meditative thoughts, he did not see a single figure.
Finally, Saul's afterglow scanned the walls and saw something white running down them.
He turned his head and fixed his eyes on it, and realized that it was actually the wax liquid left behind from the candlestick.
He had guessed that there was a pipe attached to the back of each candlelight in the Wizard's Tower.
A properly functioning candle would burn 24/7 as the pipe continued to deliver the raw materials for the candle. Only those candlesticks that were damaged would have the pipe behind them dry up.
These pipes may seem unattended, but which candles need to be replenished with raw materials and which don't are arranged properly, and in all these years, they have never seen a mistake.
Who would have thought that today, when Saul ran out of the storehouse with a careless soul, he would have met the unusual situation of the wax liquid flowing out of the walls.
And not in one place.
Saul was surprised to find that on all the walls in front of and behind him, and on the bases of all the candle lamps, all of them began to gurgle outward with wax liquid that had not yet solidified.
What was even more frightening was that as the wax spread all over the walls, the voices expressing hunger grew louder and louder, encircling Saul three hundred and sixty degrees.
"So hungry! So hungry! So hungry! So hungry! So hungry!"
Thor saw this and knew that he was afraid that he had encountered an unusually difficult situation again.
He tried to retreat back to the second floor of the East Tower, only to find that the wax flowing from the candlestick behind him had actually covered the entire floor and walls.
The wax from the ramp in front of him even flowed to the roof against the norm, and then rained down, forming a rain curtain that blocked Saul's way.
"Is this wax solution dangerous?" Saul looked to the diary.
The diary gave no warning.
Nonetheless Saul was uneasy.
He knew more or less what was in the wax solution.
This candle was supposed to have the effect of keeping the spirit calm, but the wax in front of him was clearly the one that was abnormal.
"So hungry! So hungry! So hungry! So hungry! So hungry!"
As the walls, floor, and ceiling became more and more waxed throughout the hallway the voices grew louder and louder.
"Can't be touched by this thing." Saul thought firmly.
However, seeing that it had already started to rain in front of him, and that the wax liquid behind him was also accumulating more and more, and was about to encircle him, Saul had no choice but to cast his eyes back to the first floor of the East Tower, from which he had just escaped.
"Those 'noodles' shouldn't be able to stay in the outside world for too long, if I go back now, I might still be able to use the dark corridors to escape from these fuming wax liquids." The fact that the diary didn't stop him meant that those arms should have already retreated, and the plan worked.
Saul floated straight up, getting more and more used to being a ghost as he spent more time away from his body.
If he hadn't been out of his body for so long, he really would have turned into a ghost, and maybe Saul could even take this opportunity to imitate a night wanderer who wandered the world for a while.
Seeing that the wax behind him had also climbed to the roof and was about to block the back way, Saul hurriedly floated up and quickly burrowed through the wrapping of wax around him.
However, just when Saul was about to escape from the encirclement, the candlesticks on both sides of his body suddenly burst open, and the wax inside was sprayed out like a shower, directly drenching Saul, who was too late to take precautions, to the bone.
Saul, who was originally floating in mid-air like a bird, immediately felt that his body was as heavy as lead.
He snapped and fell to the ground, solidly falling into the wax liquid that was pasted on the ground.
If there was a third party who saw Saul at this moment, he would have been dumbfounded.
Because the moment Saul fell into the wax, his spiritual body instantly melted and merged into the wax beneath him.
Looking from above, one would see a flat Saul in the wax.
"Eat him, eat him, eat him ..."
The call of hunger immediately turned into greed, and the white wax liquid wrapped around the wandering soul of the night, little by little shrinking back into the pipes of the walls.
Everything is almost back to its original appearance, clean, dark, neat and silent.
Except on the wall near the dark corridor, there were two candle lamps whose bases were somehow damaged and fell to the floor, tumbling forlornly.
And Saul, who had been heartbroken the moment he was doused with wax, the only slight consolation was that the diary remained unresponsive.
Transformed into a two-dimensional creature, he was carried away by the wax, and after much twisting and compression, he was actually squeezed into the tube as well.
As the light disappeared, the owners of the voices in the slender tube all pounced on him.
Saul couldn't see, but he could hear and feel.
Uncountable mouths bit into his spiritual body, the sounds of tearing and devouring coming from all directions, from within him.
"They're going to eat me!"
Though the diary hadn't yet signaled death, Saul was already struggling in terror.
Especially after he felt one of his eyes detach from its socket and be gnawed away by something, he hastily reached out his right hand to try to grab his eye back.
Although his soul had long been twisted and deformed, and the loss of his eye might not be a real eye, Saul instinctively felt that it was his vital organ.
But there were too many enemies around, and Saul couldn't even do his old trick of utilizing his spiritual power to cast sorcery even if he wanted to do it again.
Because it hurt too much!
There was a mouth desperately tearing at his entire body, like a dying beast that had fallen into a lake full of piranhas.
Even harder, Saul felt his right hand leave his body as well, and at that moment, the string that was taut in his head – snapped!
"Hungry hungry hungry! Just know hunger!" Ignoring the pain around his body, Saul roared from the depths of his soul, "I haven't fucking eaten either! KAM!"
Next he completely ignored those mouths around his body, ignored the pain feeding back from the depths of his soul, and ignored the consequences of possibly dying here ...
He opened his mouth violently and bit down on the unknown, shapeless enemy ... in front of him.
Early on, after he bit off a piece of flesh from Noodle's arm, he vaguely realized that other monsters could devour him, and he seemed to be able to devour others as well.
Just limited by the cognition of consciousness, this devouring can only rely on the mouth at present.
Saul didn't care if the diary had any hints, he didn't care if this tearing would bring him other troubles, anyway, his current thought was: more debt, no worries!
He swallowed the opposite side of his mouth in one bite, and with intense anger, he went to the darkness to chase the guy who bit off his left eye and right hand.
During this time, whoever bit him, he bit back, and those out of reach simply ignored them and ate only what was in front of him!
Gradually, the mouths in front of him became fewer and fewer, and the speed of his advance became faster and faster.
Although it was in a narrow pipe, Saul still ran at the speed of a 100 meter final.
In his spiritual perception, the mouths that robbed his eyes and arms were still in front of him!
With no more "people" daring to bite Saul, and no more "people" daring to stand in front of him, Saul finally grabbed the robber, and without caring to distinguish between the enemy's spiritual body and his own, he gulped it down through the already deformed mouth! ... swallowed it!
Thor: Since I have not been human ...
