Chapter 182 – Hanging Out to Dry
"Who brought them back?" Saul asked in surprise.
Both of them died in the Valley of the Drooping Hand, at the hands of the Evil Spirit Morton. At that time, there were pursuers behind them, and they were in such a hurry to leave that they didn't have time to collect their corpses.
He didn't expect that he would be able to see the two again.
"It's probably Mochi Mochi. He lives in the border Black Fortress Forest, so if you go out in the future, you can go to his side to recuperate."
Mochi Mochi was the man who was slender looking and lived in a slender place.
I didn't expect him to be able to bring the body back from the so dangerous Droopy Hands Valley.
But these two corpses were a little different from what they looked like when they were alive.
It wasn't a difference caused by corpse spots, giant views, or anything like that, but rather a subtle change.
Herman's skin had become rough, and it was only when you looked closer that you could see that Herman hadn't gotten rougher, but that his skin had a lot more tiny holes in it.
It was as if someone had stuck tiny eyes in the skin of an orange with a silver needle, and you could still see the obvious difference upon closer inspection.
"Is this ... something that has precipitated out from under his skin?"
Haywood smiled slightly, "A silver-colored metal, you should have seen it before. But the body was so deformed after precipitation that I had to find some other material to pour it in for the sake of the collection's aesthetics."
Haywood knocked on the transparent coffin-like box, "The inside is not yet dry, when you carry it, hold it gently."
Saul opened the top lid of the box, pulled out a metal rod from his pocket, and gently pressed the back of Herman's hand.
A kind of milky-white mucus emerged from a small hole on the back of the hand, but when Saul withdrew the metal rod, the mucus slowly seeped back.
"The oozing rate is a bit high, I'd better let it dry before swinging it into the corpses." Saul finished and looked at Bill's body again, "Is there anything I need to pay attention to on Bill's ... body?"
Haywood said, "He's not a big problem, Mentor Guido has helped neutralize the toxins in his body, but it still needs ..."
Halfway through his sentence, Bill's lips were suddenly pushed open a crack by a current of air.
"Pfft…"
"... bleed off the air." Haywood finished the rest of the words without changing his face.
Saul: "..."
"Okay, I'll let this one air out too."
The two men take out the handover paperwork and the two freshly handled collections are now officially filed in the second warehouse.
Nodding in satisfaction, Haywood saw that Saul had already pushed the two transparent boxes and turned around, ready to leave.
Just then, the hood behind him cracked open a slit, and a pair of eyes glowing with excitement emerged from within.
But she wasn't excited for long.
"Where are your eyes???" The hoarse female voice came from behind Heywood's head, rather exasperated.
As a result, before Saul could speak, he heard Haywood chuckle, "Needless to say, of course it's hidden."
Haywood turned back to Saul and said, "Of course, if you change your mind at any time, we can still continue to trade ... that pretty eye that you hid."
Haywood smiled and stepped back, leaving the second storage room.
"Does this Haywood recognize the Nightmare Butterfly, or does he see that the cocoon is precious?" For the other party's marvelous observation ability, Saul could only be vigilant.
He transported Bill and Herman's bodies into the storage room.
Because the state of the two new collectibles was not stable enough, Saul still placed them in the transparent box.
"It's funny, these two people's conscious bodies are here with me, and now that the bodies have been brought to hand, it's a good idea to reunite them."
Just as Saul sighed about the vagaries of fate, a burst of cold air suddenly passed through his body and surged towards the two new collectibles.
White frost began to form on Sol's eyebrows and hair strands.
He hastily took two steps back to avoid the sudden cold flow, and only then did he feel the temperature around him return to normal.
It seemed that something had just drilled into the two men's bodies from the air in all directions.
"It's not like a simple temperature drop, is it a spirit body?" Sol went into semi-immersive meditation sweeping over the two newcomers but found nothing, "The cold seems to have disappeared, the mutation just ended before I could observe it. Next time if a newcomer comes through, be sure to remember to watch for changes in the auric body." Sol mused as he made notes.
At this point, it was already close to the time agreed upon with Kongsa, and Saul temporarily interrupted his observation of the two new collectibles.
He came between the shelves, underneath collection number 117.
In the past, when he was organizing the storage room, he had checked all the items with numbers one by one.
Some of these things just looked scary and dangerous, others looked like the most common things around.
"Number 117, Elven Whisper." Saul carefully took down a bottle half filled with a clear liquid from the shelf.
Inside the bottle stood a tree branch at a slant, the top of which showed a sliver of the liquid, with two tender green leaves stretched out at the top.
It looked full of life, small and cute.
The Elven Whisper was actually the branch in this bottle, excluding the outside bottle, and the liquid in the bottle.
These two things are actually used to seal the Elven Whisper.
In the treasury manual, the warning for #117 reads, "You may not pour out the liquid inside the bottle, nor may you take the branch out of the bottle. Once the above two rules are violated, Mentor Kaz or Lord Golzatha must be notified immediately, and if a fair-skinned species with golden eyes and long ears appears in front of you, be sure not to actively interact with it!"
Other than that, the manual did not record the method of using the Elven Whisper, but Kongsha surely had her ways and did not need Sol to worry about it.
Their agreement was that Saul would move the item to the inside of the bronze gate, open the gate when it was time, and let Kongsha come in to use the Elven Whisper for one minute, and Kongsha would leave immediately after the time was up.
The most dangerous thing for Saul was the process of transporting the Elven Whisper back and forth.
However, Saul was not the defenseless first level apprentice he was at the beginning.
Who didn't violate a few prohibitions when they were a student?
Therefore, after making sure that the diary didn't have any hints, Saul placed the bottle containing the Elven Whispers on the cart.
As he left, he took a small hourglass timer with him.
He only intended to leave Kongsa a minute to avoid any other surprises.
Somewhat to Saul's surprise, he pushed the cart all the way to the bronze gate door without encountering any trouble.
Saul took out his compact hourglass timer and waited for 7:55 to arrive.
It was now 7:53, so he didn't need to wait too long.
The wait passed slowly.
Saul kept tapping his index finger on the armrest of the cart, getting progressively more annoyed.
When he had tapped 60 times once again he looked down at the hourglass watch.
It was still 7:53 ...
"Am I misperceiving the time, or is there something wrong with the hourglass clock?"
Saul skimmed his head and silently counted sixty again, but when he looked down, he realized that the hourglass clock was still stopped at the 53 minute mark.
"Something is definitely wrong somewhere." Saul looked to the tender green branch in the cart, "I didn't touch the branch, nor did I open the bottle. Sure enough, just moving its position will also affect it somehow."
Saul calmed down and tried to chase away the inexplicable irritation in his mind and just stood and entered a meditative state.
In the middle of his meditation, he realized that there were indeed some abnormal fluctuations in his mental body just now, but he surprisingly didn't notice them at all. Luckily, the fluctuations weren't too drastic and could be recovered through meditation.
Saul quickly calmed the vibrations in his mental body and glanced down at the time, 7:56.
He immediately let go of the cart and walked over to the bronze gate and pushed it open with one hand.
Outside the door, Konsa, who had half of her face blocked with her cloak, stood in the dark hallway with her head bowed.
The darkness kept squeezing her body as if trying to drive the woman away from the first floor of the East Tower.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, the woman who stood like a statue raised her head, "You're a minute late, is something wrong?"
