Chapter 128: Out of the Tiger's Mouth and into the Dragon's Den
What could be the light that could come out of the ground?
Saul drew out his Spirit Armor Technique scroll, and the soul moths on his arm surged more and more frequently.
Both sides were fast and about to collide.
The diary never showed up.
"Could it be someone I recognize?"
Who could it be?
Senior Byron couldn't fly wizardry, so was it Bill, or Wright?
Thor perked up and couldn't help but call out, "Senior?"
"Saul?"
A familiar voice did come from the opposite side.
The two lights collided.
Wright's pale face appeared in front of Sol's eyes.
Saul excitedly tried to explain to Wright what was happening on the ground, "Senior Wright, come on!"
"Saul, run!"
Saul: "?"
The young second level apprentice was no match for Wright, a senior third level apprentice, and was pulled upwards by the other party in a single glance.
After a brief moment of surprise, Saul instantly reacted that Senior Wright must have also encountered an enemy he could not resist.
Moreover, there were no other companions behind Senior Wright, so the situation was very grim.
This meant that the enemy behind Wright had actually caused him to scatter and flee with the others!
As soon as he thought clearly about all this, Saul no longer hesitated, and immediately commanded Algae to follow Wright's force and bring him along as he climbed upwards.
But there were also enemies above their heads. In order to prevent a sneak attack, Saul hastily explained the situation to Leite in the most concise language.
"An enemy that can easily kill you?" Doubt flashed in Wright's eyes, but the speed of his upward escape did not weaken.
"I see, you must follow me closely in a while." Wright quickly made his decision and flew above Sol, apparently deciding to block the enemy on his side for Sol.
Such decisiveness surprised Saul a bit.
Anze's apprentice, Bill's companion.
With such a status, even though Wright had always acted a bit big-headed, Saul had never really let his guard down.
But Saul didn't expect Wright to immediately decide to stand in front of Saul instead of using Saul as a shield when he knew that a powerful enemy existed.
"Senior, be careful, the enemy up there, their speed could be very fast."
Wright did not reply, the pair of wings that grew on his back was flapping rapidly.
Saul stared at the diary, ready to alert Wright.
But the diary remained motionless.
"This enemy Senior Wright should be able to fight." Saul's heart was a little more at ease, even plotting whether he could counter-kill in a while.
In the diary, Saul had already been killed by the other party several times, as long as there was an opportunity to counter-kill, Saul would definitely not show any mercy!
The opponent was very fast, and Sol was afraid that if he wanted to counterkill, he would only have a short chance.
Then, it was the moment when Senior Wright and the other party locked horns.
The bugs on Sol's arm began to stir again.
Finally, the two re-jumped up to the upper level.
But the cave before them was eerily quiet.
Wright, anxious, looked around briefly, "Whatever, let's keep going!"
"Senior be careful, he's fast." Sol hastily warned.
But until the two of them returned to the spiderweb-strewn passageway, they had not encountered the mysterious and powerful enemy.
As he crossed the passageway, Saul observed the spiderwebs around him and realized that only at the beginning of the other end, there were traces of the spiderwebs being destroyed, and no more beyond that.
This suggested that someone had once pursued them here, but had retreated for other reasons. Sol quickly swept over the destroyed traces on the ground with his Shimmering Light technique, and was able to determine that the other party had broken through the spiderweb purely based on their strength or speed.
Sure enough, the enemy chasing him was originally supposed to break through here soon.
Then what caused him to come and return?
Saul's eyes lit up as he saw Wright stop in front of him and rushed to Wright's side. He looked far ahead and saw several familiar figures.
Senior Byron and Bill were both standing there intact, with only Nick hanging his head unconscious, hanging from Senior Byron's back.
Could it be that he had been wounded by the enemy chasing Saul?
Saul rushed over to him, and his movement startled the mentally tense two men as well.
After seeing that it was Saul, Byron, who was carrying Nick, greeted him.
"Saul what are you doing down here?"
Saul frowned slightly looking sideways at Wright who had just followed him.
"Did you not receive my signal? There is a group of enemies coming up on land. They are on the ground in a huge three-masted sailing ship, and I suspect that they are from the landwalkers. I was just chased by one of them and had to run down."
"What? Just now some were land rowers?" Byron was taken aback, and Bill's face beside him didn't look too good."
Bill looked to Wright, who sent a shoulder, "The situation was so tense just now, I didn't even pay attention to the signal Saul sent over."
Looking at the performance of the three, Saul understood that the enemy they encountered was even more difficult.
"Let's walk and talk." Byron helped Nick behind him and said in a deep voice.
It was said to talk while walking, but it was actually talking while running.
Saul could feel their tangible fear. It made him inadvertently nervous as well… what the hell was after them?
Knowing full well that there were enemies out there as well, they still didn't hesitate to run towards the ground, with Bill running at the front and Saul falling at the back.
Soon they came across the first fork in the road.
"Which way?" Bill asked loudly without stopping in his tracks.
This path was not at all the one Byron and the others had explored down in the crypt, but one that Saul had stumbled into by mistake.
Only Saul knew where to get out.
Just like that, under Saul's command, they gradually approached the ground. At the same time, after exchanging information with each other, they both understood the trouble both sides had encountered.
It turned out that after several days of not encountering evil spirits, Bill proposed to go deep underground again.
Byron, who had been having no luck, also faltered.
When they came across a downward passage again, they chose to enter a deeper underground cavern anyway.
However, soon after they entered the second level of the underground cavern, they encountered a very terrifying soul storm head-on.
It was possible for this kind of soul storm to form after the death of a sufficiently powerful sorcerer, or after the death of a sufficient number of sorcerers.
Because they failed to become evil spirits, but were also unwilling to dissipate, their consciousness formed a tornado of soul fragments between repeated convergence and collapse.
This kind of soul storm was a terrifying existence to ordinary people and even low-level sorcerer apprentices who would die if they were dipped in it.
However, some powerful sorcerer apprentices had a way to obtain some of the soul fragments from it.
Byron, who majored in the dark element, and Bill and Wright, who came here to make money, naturally wouldn't let go of this small soul storm.
In their opinion, the danger of a soul storm of this magnitude shouldn't be too great. Thus, they took the initiative to attack the periphery of the storm, trying to strike out the soul fragments inside that had been bound by the storm for many years.
However, what no one expected was that when a small gap appeared in the outer layer of the soul storm due to their attack, the first one to drill out from inside was actually a formal sorcerer level evil spirit!
"Formal sorcerer?" Hearing this, Saul's hands and feet went cold.
He dared to fight against a level two apprentice, and he dared to flee under the pursuit of a level three apprentice, creating a little trouble for the other party in the process. But how could he not imagine if he could survive the pursuit of a formal sorcerer?
"So how the hell did you guys manage to run up here alive?"
