Chapter 119 – Coincidental Encounter with a Third Level Apprentice
Although his eyes had been inexplicably invaded by a cocoon, Saul wasn't very flustered at this point.
Penny, an ordinary little girl, was fine wearing this cocoon for three or four years, and he, an apprentice sorcerer, would be even less afraid.
Moreover, as long as the diary does not come out, things are not considered troublesome.
The only trouble was that he couldn't turn to Byron for help now, after all, he couldn't explain the origin of this cocoon.
If it wasn't for the diary's hints, he wouldn't have been able to discover this cocoon at all.
Only after some time had passed would he be able to put this into the open.
Experimentation on the Nightmare Butterfly cocoon was forced into the second option, but it would have to wait until he returned to the tower before he could continue his research.
Thor relaxed a little and leaned against the window, "Where are we going?"
"Around here, there's a depression. It's a bit deeper than the original location, but it shouldn't be too dangerous for us." Nick, who was behind the Senshi, volunteered.
"Could there be one over there as well?" Saul was a little worried, their trip hadn't gone too well at the beginning of this trip, ah.
"Most likely not." Byron said in a low voice, "I've thought about it for a while, the reason why those things appeared at the entrance of the Drooping Hand Valley is most likely because a rare tidal storm occurred."
Knowing that Saul didn't understand this, Byron helped him out in detail.
The Valley of the Drooping Hand buried thousands of wizards, and thus was divided into two worlds, above and below ground.
The underground world, however, because of the rescue and escape back then as well as the excavation afterward, became a complex hole in the ground made up of pits and tunnels.
In the depths of the caves of the earth dangerous monsters like the man-head monster appear.
They usually don't come out because the outside world is too stable for them, not conducive to their existence.
Occasionally, however, several storms would surge outward from underground in an undirected manner.
Some monsters would then follow those storms and temporarily run to other pits, or even crawl to the surface.
Usually when they encountered such a situation, everyone rushed to move away, and it would be much safer to leave the area affected by the storms.
Tidal storms were, after all, a small probability event, so the outskirts of the Pitcher's Valley was considered a safe zone for sorcerer apprentices.
The three people did not have the idea of evacuating, after all, just this little bit of danger to be evacuated, that also do not have to go as a sorcerer.
After circling around a piece of, scattered on the ground, a pile of boulders that was three to four meters high, Byron suddenly made the Wooden Spider stop.
Have we reached the place?
Seeing that Byron left the Wooden Spider, Saul also followed and jumped down.
As soon as he landed, he realized that it turned out to be a few people who appeared in front of him.
It should be two groups of people.
One of the groups had four people and was fighting the people opposite them.
But Saul looked twice and determined that it was a one-sided crush, and that those four people were being abused by the one person on the opposite side.
While the opposite group had two people, one person with long purple hair playfully slaughtered the four people across the street. The other person was sitting on a boulder to the side, looking little spirited and pale.
By this time, the suppressed four had begun to suffer casualties, and two of them collapsed on the ground, foaming at the mouth as the skin on their bodies began to melt away.
The pale-faced sorcerer on the opposite side of the street suddenly noticed Saul and the others. Leaping up from the rock, he flew towards them.
Saul immediately activated his mental body and prepared to fight.
But then he realized that Senior Byron was not in combat mode. It was only Nick on the other side who looked a bit nervous – although his face remained expressionless.
The pale-faced wizard landed in front of Byron and suddenly raised his smile in greeting.
"Yo, Byron, long time no see!"
Byron nodded, "Uh-huh."
"You're still so chill, haha." The pale wizard looked good-tempered and greeted Nick again, "Nick, it's rare to see you out."
Nick bowed respectfully, "Senior Wright."
The pale wizard named Wright finally turned to Saul, still smiling, "I haven't seen you before, little guy, are you a newly promoted second level?"
Saul also followed Nick and saluted, "Senior Wright, how are you, I just became a second level some time ago." Wright laughed, "Doesn't look too old, the newcomers nowadays are really powerful. Maybe there will be someone who will become a full-fledged wizard before us old guys."
Although Wright called himself an old guy, he didn't look very old, even much younger than Byron, only in his early twenties.
A sorcerer apprentice might be able to slow down the aging of his flesh if he had transformed himself, and his true age could not be deduced from his appearance.
If one became a full-fledged sorcerer, his lifespan would even increase drastically, so the sorcerer world could not rely on looks to infer age and strength at all.
Just as they were talking, that purple-haired sorcerer apprentice had already finished off the four people across the street.
He opened his mouth at the corpses, and a purple smoke spewed out of his mouth, enveloping the four corpses.
After a while, the smoke burrowed back into the purple-haired man's mouth, while the corpses on the ground disappeared, leaving only a pile of clothes.
The purple-haired man stepped forward to pick at the loot.
Byron stared at those clothes for a few moments before he suddenly spoke, "They're from Land Row?"
Wright hastily raised his hand to show his innocence, "It's none of my business, it's those guys who saw that there were only two of us and sneak attacked us. Bill's character you also know, has always been to kill any enemy on the spot. I can't persuade him."
Byron frowned, "The people of Land Rowing Boats often act together, isn't he afraid of killing a few and causing a bunch?"
Wright wasn't nervous and laughed, "It's fine, if people come looking for them, the big thing is to push Bill out."
At this time, the purple-haired man, Bill, finished dealing with the loot and slipped over with his hands in his pockets.
"Byron? Droopy Hands Valley is really lively today. Everyone has come over to pick up the treasure. But why did you bring two secondary dragons with you?"
Byron saw Bill and a slight caution showed in his eyes.
He knew that the people from the land traveling boat dared to sneak up on them, it must have been Bill and the others who deliberately disguised themselves as weaklings.
Land Rowboat, was also considered a larger wizard organization. The high end battle power was not as strong as the Wizard Tower, so when they usually encountered the apprentices of the Wizard Tower, they usually did not start a conflict.
So this time, it was likely that Bill had concealed his identity and deliberately lured the other party into making a move before killing them back. People are already dead, Byron can not say anything, can only hope that the follow-up will not lead to trouble.
"We're not here to hunt for treasure. But this place isn't suitable for you either, right?" Byron said indifferently.
"Oh, short of money, just happened to come over with Wright to pick up the bodies." Bill shrugged his shoulders, and with a sudden twist of his head he said to Nick, "It's you, Nick why are you here? I remember didn't you ask for a letter from Mentor Rum and were going to go to Mill Sail Town to hang out? How was it? Did you secretly grab the Grinding Sound Fruit? There won't be none left when I go to get the tribute next month, right?"
Is Bill the one who goes to Mill Sail Town to receive the Ground Sound Fruit every year?
Saul's heart skipped a beat.
So did he know that Mill Sail Town was making deals with the savages all these years?
Before Shelly died, he had said that the Wizard Tower had not helped Mill Sail Town, referring to Bill?
Nick bowed his head slightly, looking a little nervous.
"Senior doesn't have to go over there next month. Mill Sail Town was sneak attacked by the barbarians, and all the Mill Sonic Fruit fields were destroyed."
Bill raised one eyebrow, "Those wandering wizard apprentices out there are really getting more and more useless nowadays, how could they be sneak attacked by a group of barbarians?"
He laughed again, "But this is good, it saves me the trouble of making a weird trip every year."
Bill put an arm on Nick's shoulder, "But then you wouldn't be able to get the sound grinding fruit, would you? Lol, if you ask me, you've got to control things like emotions yourself, potions don't cut it."
Nick's back was bent over from the pressure, but all he could do was say yes.
"Since there's nothing else, we'll continue on our way." Byron pulled Nick out from under the others.
Wright curiously followed up, "Why are you still heading inside with two second level apprentices?"
Byron confessed, "Saul saw a lot of human head monsters at the entrance, I suspect that a tidal storm has appeared there, it's safer to go inside."
"Human head monsters?" A grave expression also appeared on Wright's face, "Every time a human head monster appears, someone always goes strangely missing, I hope it won't be us this time."
But Bill's attention was on another place.
He cocked his head and walked around Nick and Byron to see Saul, who had been standing quietly in the back.
"So you're Saul." Bill's eyes narrowed slightly, his body revealing a sense of danger, "I've often heard people talk about you, what a powerful schoolmate."
Who was it, who often mentioned him to Bill?
