Chapter 113 – Mushroom Man and Skin
A few kilometers away from Mill Sail Town, the retreating barbarians had already run here.
"Halt!"
The Priest, who still had blood dripping from the corner of his mouth and whose speech was a bit leaky, called a halt to the group and straightened up to distinguish the direction.
"That way, that tree, go!"
The procession moved again.
Suddenly, a clear roar came from overhead.
A giant bird swooped down from high above.
A huge black shadow quickly enveloped all the barbarians.
A blonde woman with full body armor jumped straight from the giant bird to the ground.
The second-ranked sorcerer Kira drew the long sword at her waist expressionlessly, "Another nest."
Whether it was a barbarian priest or an ordinary barbarian, all of them held their heads and crouched to the ground, trembling under the Second Order Sorcerer's pressure.
No one dared to resist.
Kira swung his sword across the room, and the longsword in his hand instantly skyrocketed a dozen times.
Blood gushed out as the long sword swung.
With just one strike, all of those barbarians on the ground were cut to pieces, and none of them were spared.
Her golden pupils swept a glance at the heads pinned on the savages' waists.
"Suddenly bringing food and running away? The matter of clearing the border has indeed been leaked out." She snorted coldly, but no anger was visible on her face.
"It's not in vain that I set out half a month in advance, I'd like to see just how many others have received the news."
Kira gestured and leapt onto the back of the giant bird once again as it made its next dive.
The two quickly flew high into the sky and disappeared.
And at that moment, Saul, who had just walked back to the carriage, looked up into the sky as if he had heard something.
But he saw nothing, the dense tree branches and the thick clouds in the sky blocked the peeping sight.
"My lord." The coachman, who had been waiting faithfully in place, immediately came out to greet him.
"Go to Desert City." Saul sharply got into the carriage.
The coachman didn't ask anything and also jumped onto the carriage, tugged on the reins, and immediately set off.
Sol, on the other hand, sat in the carriage and took stock of the gains and losses of this operation.
Shelly's death and the disaster in Mill Sail Town definitely had to be reported to Mentor Rum, and for the sake of the accuracy of the information delivery, he still had to report it in person before he could do so.
Saul felt that the appearance of that group of barbarians was not simple.
Especially the matter of trading with the border wizards for survival space was really unlike what the barbarians would do.
And the content of their deal was actually the Sound Grinding Fruit?
Those barbarians even came out of nowhere and unilaterally lifted the negotiation table.
Saul always felt that what was going on here was not as simple as it appeared on the surface.
Perhaps Elder Byron and Nick, would have a deeper view on this.
The carriage traveled furiously, and Saul arrived outside of Mobei City two days later.
It was one day earlier than the agreed time.
Instead of sending Saul into the city, the coachman turned onto another small road and kept going up to a mountain forest.
The mountain forest snaked until it was halfway up the mountain, and halfway up the mountain, there was a slender black castle.
The Black Castle, that was the agreed upon location for Saul's trip.
As he entered the mountain forest, Saul saw a sign erected on the side of the road, writing once in Common, Northland, and Noah's languages "Black Castle Forest, no ordinary people allowed."
And the ambience of this place was completely different after the carriage passed that sign.
The path between the mountains and the forest was not wide, barely wide enough for the carriage to pass through.
Through the carriage window, Saul looked at the hideous and bizarrely shaped trees outside, and instead felt some familiar intimacy.
At this time, the speeding carriage suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Saul pushed open the door, and saw that the horseman driving the carriage was looking pale with his head bowed in death.
When no one answered, Saul looked out.
By the forest path ahead, under the layers of leaves that even the sunlight couldn't penetrate, there were people who were curled up hugging their knees and crouching on the ground with their heads bowed.
They were all naked, with their heads buried between their chests and stomachs. The most bizarre thing was that those people had huge, umbrella-like mushroom caps growing on top of their heads.
When the wind blew, white spores flew out from underneath the mushroom caps and fell into the dark woods and grass.
Saul covered his mouth and nose with his hand and looked at the spores vigilantly.
He began to visualize the walking map of the human monster, but everything in front of him did not change, it was still the dark woods, and the mushroom people crouching on their knees on both sides of the road.
"It's not a spirit body ... not right!" Saul immediately ended his visualization and looked at the white spores that filled the sky, and his face looked a little bad.
He meditated again, and sure enough, he didn't see any of the spores at all during his semi-immersive meditation!
He had never encountered such a situation before, and surprisingly, he couldn't see something that could be seen with the naked eye while observing instead, what exactly were those spores?
"Don't want to think about it, there must be something wrong with these things, none of the wizard's things are safe." Saul was wary of those mushroom people on the side of the road while patting the cart driver on the shoulder, "Let's slow down the cart and walk over slowly, be careful not to run into those mushroom people."
But the cart driver did not respond.
Saul tapped twice more before he felt something was wrong.
Looking sideways, he realized that the person he was driving in his car was actually a huddled mushroom man.
The mushroom man was looking down at the reins in his hand with a horrified expression.
"Holy shit!" Saul kicked the mushroom man out of the car.
As soon as he took the reins of the carriage and clutched them in his hand, he looked around and saw no sign of the driver.
Saul shook the reins and made the horse trot while he held his breath and carefully watched for the mushroom men on either side.
Suddenly, he saw a mushroom man crouching on the side of the road that looked exactly like the coachman.
Saul grabbed the vehicle with one hand and leaned his whole body to one side until the wagon passed by the mushroom man's driver, grabbed the driver and carried him to the frame.
The coachman's eyes were tightly closed at this point, and he appeared to be unconscious.
Saul reached out and probed, still breathing, though with a mushroom growing on top of his head, his clothes were still in order.
For the time being, he did not have a solution to the mushroom on top of the coachman's head, so he could only lead the people to continue to move forward first.
Is Senior Byron in this place?
If this place was a branch of the Witch Tower or a friendly force, then why would it attack his coachman?
Well, the Sorcerer's Tower didn't attack its own people much.
Saul could only remain vigilant as transparent moths began to wriggle on both of his hands again.
Seeing that the wagon had begun to go uphill, the black fortress behind the mountains and forests began to show its true colors a little bit.
However, at this time, Saul had to stop the carriage once again.
In front of the path, there were no more mushroom people on both sides of the road, only a small tree with sparse leaves, and the jagged branches reaching up to the top of the path.
And a man was hanging on one of the branches in the middle of the cross road.
The man's body was soft around the edges, his skin pulling out folds with the force of the hanging.
It was actually a complete human skin!
Saul reached out and pushed the unconscious mushroom carter into the wagon with a shove, while he himself eyed the human skin warily.
After a while, no other dangers were found before the carriage was allowed to continue on its way.
The horses of the Witch Tower carriage seemed to be used to big scenes, and were surprisingly able to be only slightly agitated in this eerie atmosphere.
Saul patted the horse's butt again in an attempt to reassure the horse.
But he himself wasn't very calm, and his eyes kept staring at the human skin with a death glare.
They approached, neighboring each other, and then slowly crossed paths ...
Just as they were about to pass each other, the human skin suddenly bulged, from head to toe, like a balloon, a little bit.
The human skin bulged into a complete human form, and then "snapped" fell from the branch, and stood firmly on the ground.
He lifted his step and walked towards Saul ...
"Vector Shooting!"
Saul raised his hand, a sharp arrow was created in his palm, and in a cracking sound, it flew towards the human skin.
A balloon? Spread your breath again.
Who knew that the human skin suddenly tilted its head and easily dodged the arrow.
At this time, the skin on the human skin's face finally fully held up, the five senses returned to their place, and looked at Saul, revealing a somewhat bewildered expression.
"Eh?"
Saul: "... Senior Byron?!"
Will try to add more over the weekend
