Chapter 66: Good day senior, goodbye senior
Rocky was sent by him into the large box where the bodies were kept.
Duke was next.
Duke has the curse on him as well.
The bursting flint he was holding contained the most dangerous of the three iterative curses, the Shadow Curse Worm.
And Duke's death was the final step in awakening the curse worm.
"Sid was probably thinking that even if Duke didn't manage to blow you up, he could use his death to start the curse and spell you just as well."
Speaking of which, Byron strangely touched the knot in his throat.
"I'm not surprised that you were able to dodge the Exploding Flintstone, and I'm just a little surprised that you were able to dodge the Curse Worm. But why can you even temporarily simulate a reaction like spitting black blood?"
"Uh." Saul went to his cabinet and took out a small dark red potion.
"It's a product that came with the sorcerous body modification I did. I named it Concentrated Plasma, and once stimulated it turns into a large amount of blood. And it can also be turned into different colors by adding pigments as needed."
It's non-toxic and harmless, a must-have for the dead recluse.
Commonly known as a blood pack in the TV series.
"As for why it's black blood ...," Saul couldn't say that the diary had told him, "the dagger that Rocky took was poisonous, and I thought that pretending to be poisoned would allow the subsequent enemies to let their guard down. "
In fact, Saul took the fake death drug that delays breathing and reduces the heartbeat.
Mainly as a precaution.
Saul takes Duke's wallet and sends his body into the big box to keep Rocky company.
Byron tells Saul that both Rocky's and Duke's bodies are tainted by the triple iteration curse.
This is the same as Jenna earlier.
Their deaths are pointed at Saul, and after all of them are dead, the Shadow Curse Worms hidden in the bursting flints reveal themselves and try to burrow into Saul's body and devour his flesh and blood.
This is something that neither Byron nor Konza anticipated.
This was because they were missing a key prerequisite, which was that Cid could not directly take action against Saul, the owner of the diary.
Unless Cid gave up the death wizard diary.
Therefore, the two Byron and Konza thought about the most powerful attack, which is Cid's personal strike to kill Saul despite the danger of being punished.
But the reality was that Cid chose a costly and extremely troublesome method to kill Saul.
Presumably, this was also what made Kongsha curious about the entanglement between Cid and Saul.
If it wasn't for the fact that Saul was also on the defensive against Kong Sha, allowing Senior Byron, who was already a third level apprentice, to be his other bottom card, today's matter would really not have ended well.
Ever since he learned from his diary that Kong Sha was using himself with complete disregard for his life, Saul hadn't thought of letting Kong Sha be his backer all the time.
Now this was quite good, turning into an exchange of benefits.
It was thought that Kong Sha had also guessed that Saul hadn't taken the potion she had given him at all.
Taking care of the follow-up, Byron took out the pamphlet to write and draw again, deducting his expenses for explaining about the curse and inspecting the corpse room.
Confirming that there were no more threats in the necropolis room, Byron bid farewell to Saul and went back to organize his harvest for the day.
Saul is finally the only one left in the third corpse room.
Saul walked over to Cid's mutilated body and carried his corpse to the teleportation table.
He turned back to the cluttered console and grabbed a couple of sharp knives, and said in a respectful tone to the two severed corpses, "Greetings, Hokage."
After a pause, he gave a pale smile, "See you around, Hokage."
...
Saul winced.
He opened his eyes and the cold touch around him made him realize that he was in a state of full body nakedness.
Above his head was a ceiling illuminated by bleak white candlelight.
Unknown symbols swirled and danced in front of his eyes, and icy breath accompanied by vague cries burrowed into Saul's skin like tiny bugs.
"Da, da, da ..."
There were footsteps approaching.
For some reason, Saul suddenly felt inexplicable fear.
He sat up violently and realized that he was actually lying on the teleportation platform of the corpse room.
The black leather underneath him felt tough to the touch, and he was actually being treated in the same way as the Corpse Room's guests.
"Da, da, da ..."
The sound of footsteps grew clearer.
Saul gulped.
But his throat was so dry it hurt.
Looking sideways, the scarlet door of the necropolis room didn't quite close. Behind the palm-width gap was a deep darkness.
And behind the darkness was a gradually clearing fear.
"Da, da, da ..."
Footsteps were coming through the crack in the door!
With a jolt, Saul couldn't think about why he was lying on the teleportation platform and immediately jumped to the ground barefoot.
He had a premonition at this moment that if he was discovered by the owner of the footsteps, the consequences would be terrifying!
"Gotta hide!"
He looked around the room.
There were no bodies, no blood, no messy tools.
In the afterglow, there seemed to be a ghastly white hand pressed against the scarlet doorway.
Without further hesitation, Saul immediately dug into the large box under the operating table.
The door of the room should be pushed open noiselessly.
For Saul heard the footsteps already sounding inside the room.
"He's coming for me!"
Saul was beyond certain, though he still couldn't figure out who was looking for him.
"Should have put the lid on." Looking over his head at the bottom of the pitch-black console table, Saul thought uneasily, "But I don't have time."
Footsteps prowled the room, reaching for the lid now would be discovered instead.
"This big box is right under the console table and covered by the four walls, so as long as I don't stick my head in, I shouldn't be visible."
Saul lay close to the floor, not daring to move a muscle, his breathing put to a minimum.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps came closer.
Closer and closer.
Stopping beside Saul.
A few murmurs rang out from the overhead console, and quickly faded again.
"Why isn't it moving?" Saul thought better of his head and glanced out.
But didn't dare.
"Why aren't there even any footsteps outside? Wait, did he find me?"
"Is he bending over?"
"Is he getting ready to squeeze his head into the gap between the bottom of the console and the top of the big box?"
"He ..."
...
"Whew!"
Saul sat up violently, breaking out into a cold sweat.
"Dreaming again." With a frown on his face, he got out of bed and changed himself into his pajamas and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with the shirt he was wearing.
"It's been two days in a row of the same nightmare, but in the dream I can't realize what's wrong, I don't know I'm dreaming. In the dream, I don't even have the courage to fight back, I'm just left with fear, as if I'm back to the time when I first crossed over to become a servant."
That feeling of fear waiting for the unknown to show itself was very clear.
Even though Saul was awake now, he could recall how helpless he was in the dream.
Vaguely, he felt that what happened in the dream was not simple.
If it was really discovered by the people who were looking for him in the dream, it seemed like something terrible would happen.
For two consecutive days, the dream was almost the same. And today, the dream had taken a new turn, the owner of the footsteps seemed to have found him.
If Saul hadn't woken up in time, a human face might have actually appeared above him!
"In today's dream, the owner of those footsteps was already about to discover me. If I have the same dream tomorrow, will I be discovered?"
It was clearly just a dream, but it had already made Saul feel uneasy.
He twisted his head to look at the diary on his left shoulder.
The diary was sleeping soundly.
"Does the diary come out to warn us if we are in danger in our dreams?"
"Let's go back to Byron-senpai this afternoon and check it out for me."
Why this afternoon?
Because Saul couldn't skip class this morning.
This morning was the first test for their batch of level one apprentices.
