Chapter 62 – The Rightful Owner Appears
With Saul's activation spell, an ice crystal the length of an index finger flew out of the tip of the wand.
The front end of the ice crystal was as sharp as an awl, emitting a strand of cold air that whooshed towards Rocky's unguarded head.
"Ah !!!!"
Rocky's head was pierced through by the ice cone that was bubbling with cold air in one stroke, leaving a bloody hole yet immediately frozen.
A double shrill whine rang out from Rocky's body.
A short, abrupt one.
One shrill, as if echoing and prolonged.
"Strike the dead!"
Sol immediately cast another sorcery.
With his current 13 joules of magic power, 0th rank sorceries were cast without any pressure.
The sharp whistling sound turned into white smoke in the black light of the sorcery.
Resolve the enemy.
Without pausing, Thor glanced at the dagger still held in Rocky's hand and immediately squeezed Rocky's hand and stabbed the poisoned dagger in an inconspicuous spot beneath Rocky's corpse.
The dagger was stained with blood and was rapidly turning black.
Saul covered the wound on Rocky's body and put Rocky's hand aside, revealing the conspicuous, black blood-stained dagger.
Now, it was time for the yellow bird to appear.
...
Duke stood with his back against the wall.
He felt his legs shaking, and if he didn't stand like this, he would soon slide to the floor.
"Rocky's already inside, they should be fighting, right?"
He looked sideways toward the corridor on the second floor of the East Tower.
Around the large, motionless man, the door closest to the ramp was half-open, clanking and clanking inside, and it was clear that the fight was intense.
Duke looked down at the stone he held in his palm – Burst Flint, the stone Cid had given him.
It was handy to use to deal with apprentices without protection spells.
Duke only had one stone like this, and it had to be used in critical moments.
A sharp hiss suddenly came from the corpse room, and it was impossible to hear who was screaming.
"Could it be that the battle is over?"
Duke knew he had to get on, if Rocky had killed Thor, then all was well.
But if Sol killed Rocky, then he had to take this opportunity to sneak in!
Otherwise, under normal circumstances, he definitely wouldn't be able to beat Saul.
Duke could no longer wait to think about how the situation had developed to this point, he tightly gripped the Explosive Flint and used his magic power to stimulate the mechanism on it.
He then quickly ran to the door of the third corpse room and raised his hand ready to throw the flint out.
The Explosive Flint would explode immediately upon a violent impact.
Regardless of who was alive inside, or both, it didn't matter, they wouldn't be able to live if this flint went down!
Duke ran to the door, swept inside a glance and raised his arm ...
However, his movement still stopped.
Because there was no one standing inside the room.
The stench rushed into Duke's nostrils, which cleared his confused mind a little.
Collapsed on the floor was Rocky, with an ice hole in his face and blood on the dagger ... dagger!
Okay, this is no longer a problem.
Duke's eyes lit up, the dagger was the one he transferred to Rocky, he naturally knew what was on it.
Still, just in case, Duke didn't leave, he scanned the room and was always ready to throw the flint out.
"Where's Saul?"
But everywhere in sight, Duke didn't see Saul's figure.
"Did he escape? But I've been watching from the hallway?"
The room was a mess. The table was askew and there were many empty boxes scattered on the floor.
A huge box fell to the floor, big enough to hide an adult inside. "Saul's hiding over there?"
Duke vaguely saw a hand on the side of the crate, which should be the injured Saul.
Counting the time, he should have had a seizure and fallen to the ground.
Duke licked his lips with an excited smile.
He took another step forward.
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around Duke's right hand that was holding the flint and clutched it in a death grip, preventing Duke from throwing the flint out.
Before Duke had time to be surprised, he saw a hand appear under his eyes, then viciously grabbed down towards his throat!
The boy's fragile neck was ripped apart with one hand!
Blood sprayed out, Duke stared at the roiling blood spray in front of his eyes, and in the last moment, the only thing in his mind was doubt: how did he appear behind me?
Letting Duke's body fall, Saul simply squeezed his opponent's right hand to keep the flint inside from falling out.
The method that Saul just used to hide his figure was a 0th order sorcery, a magic trick, that he specifically went to learn for this day.
This sorcery was flexible enough to change the way it was presented based on the smallest differences in constructing the sorcery model.
And what Saul chose was an effect that hid his figure.
He was actually standing against the wall next to the door when Duke entered, but Duke just ignored him.
This sorcery looked powerful, but in fact, no matter which effect it had, it was not very lethal and could only briefly disorient one's five senses.
That's why it was categorized as a 0th order sorcery.
Another reason to drop it to 0th level is that you have a hard time controlling the effects it presents. Sometimes you try to pull a rabbit out of a hat and all that comes out is a toad.
But with Saul's precise coordinate analysis method, he could control the presentation of this spell as he pleased.
In addition to the purposely learned 0th rank sorcery, Saul also prepared other props.
The wand that had just cast the Cold Ice Dagger was a sorcery prop.
Sorcery props were basically disposable items with a more powerful sorcery sealed on it, which could be used through simple magic excitation, and did not require the user to master that sorcery.
It was a pity that in order to solve Rocky as soon as possible, Saul had used up the sorcery prop he had prepared for Sid in advance.
And the explosive flint that Duke took was also a kind of sorcery prop, only the power was much more violent than the cold ice dagger, and the range of the wave was also larger.
Saul carefully took out the bursting flint from Duke's hand and dispelled the magic power that Duke had attached to it.
The explosive fire stone that was stupidly moving finally settled down.
Saul let out a sigh of relief.
It was not a good thing to let the bursting flint explode inside the corpse room.
He was about to put the flint away when his eyes subconsciously checked it first in a semi-meditative state – he did this every time he collected materials from a corpse.
Then, Saul's movements stopped.
Under his observation, a black and gray worm unexpectedly crawled out of the flint in his palm, quickly attaching itself to Saul's left hand and opening its huge mouthparts to bite down ...
Well, it didn't bite.
Saul silently put the flint on the table, then his thumb and forefinger clamped the worm in his palm and pinched it!
"Squeak!"
The black and gray illusory worm then turned into fine dust and dissipated into the air.
"What is this?"
The diary didn't make an appearance, and Saul couldn't see what use the bug was.
Diary's eyes were too high to look at ordinary small things.
But Saul felt that this little bug was not ordinary, and it must be a part of Sid's killing strategy.
Outside the quiet corpse room, there was the sound of light footsteps.
Saul's eyes narrowed, knowing that the main man had arrived!
He immediately stumbled towards his locker, rummaging through it in a panic to find a few small bottles, making clanking noises.
Then he quickly pulled a few spare reagents out of his clothes, uncorked the bottles, and poured them all into his mouth in one gulp.
Drinking the reagents, Saul walked towards the door with a pained look on his face, covering his chest and stumbling as if he was looking for someone to call for help.
The gate was pushed open and a figure appeared in the doorway.
Seeing the other person, Saul's face changed drastically and he backed up, crashing through the console and nearly tripping over the body next to the teleportation console.
As his back hit the conveyor belt, Saul's face changed again, and he opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of black blood.
Then, with despair in his eyes, he looked behind the gate and angrily shouted, "Cid, it's really you!"
