"I prepared the coffee and headed straight to Mr. Jeremiah's office, my heart racing with anticipation. I knocked, and upon hearing 'come in', I opened the luxurious door and entered. 'I brought your coffee, sir,' I said, holding the cup carefully to avoid any accidents. My mind flashed back to the first day I realized this gorgeous, annoying man was my boss - a constant source of frustration and attraction.
"'Drop the coffee, princess,' he said in that voice that always made me feel things I shouldn't. I carefully placed the cup on the table and sat down across from him, trying to ignore the way my heart skipped a beat. He took a sip, his eyes never leaving mine, and I felt like a prized possession under his gaze.
"'You made the coffee well,' he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. I nodded, trying to appear composed. But inside, I was a mess. He stared at me, his blue eyes piercing my soul, and I felt self-conscious about everything.
"I distracted myself with a cough and stuttered, 'Sir, you called me in to talk about meetings, sir? What about it?' He smirked, that mischievous look etched on his face
"His face turned serious in an instant, and his tone followed suit. 'I've already spoken with investors and clients online, so cancel those meetings on my schedule.' I couldn't help but stare at the imposing figure before me - so eloquent, confident, and handsome. He exudes an aura of authority, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"'Yes, sir,' I replied hastily, trying to compose myself. But my mind raced as he continued, his voice firm and commanding. 'We have an impromptu meeting with all staff after lunch. I won't tolerate slacking, and underperformers will be replaced.' His words sent a chill down my spine, and my heart raced with anticipation.
"I felt my jaw drop in shock, my eyes fixed on him in disbelief. I've never seen this side of him before, and it both scared and impressed me. My mind wandered, but his stern tone snapped me back to attention. 'Miss Cole, how many times must I remind you to stay focused?' I jumped in my seat, apologizing profusely, my heart racing.
"In that moment, I felt like a tiny, insignificant piece of his vast empire. A one-night stand, a mere secretary - that's all I was to him. My heart felt shattered, but I hid the pain behind a mask of professionalism. 'Yes, sir, I'll send out the meeting notifications now.' My voice trembled slightly, but I tried to steady it.
"'Are we done now?' I stuttered, my eyes searching his face for a glimmer of softness. And for a moment, I thought I saw it - a flicker of kindness in his eyes. 'Yes,' he said curtly, and I quickly exited the office, shutting the door behind me. My heart felt like it had been shattered into a million pieces. I thought I had a chance with him, but now I'm not so sure."
"I brushed off my hurt and sent the message, trying to compose myself. But my stomach growled, protesting the lack of food. I headed to the cafeteria, grabbing spaghetti, broccoli, and chicken, and opted for water, my appetite dwindling.
As I ate, Jayden approached me, concern etched on his face. 'Hey Laura, you don't look good. What's wrong?' I forced a weak smile, hiding my true feelings. 'Just tired, that's all.'
But Jayden pressed on, 'Laura, do you have any idea why the boss called an impromptu meeting? It's got everyone buzzing.' My heart skipped a beat. How did he know? I shook my head, feigning ignorance. 'No, no idea.'
Just then, the receptionist interrupted, her voice firm. 'Laura, the boss wants you to get him food and bring it to his office. Now.' My eyes widened in shock. This was unprecedented. The boss never asked secretaries to fetch him food!
Jayden's eyes mirrored my surprise. 'That's weird, right? He's never done that before.' I nodded, my mind racing. What was going on?
With a sense of trepidation, I left my food and headed to the counter, ordering a burger and fries. My heart raced as I took the elevator, wondering what lay ahead. The boss's expression, his tone, everything screamed 'no-nonsense.' I felt a shiver run down my spine."
"My heart raced as I entered the office, knocking before entering. 'Sit down, princess,' my boss said, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine.
"I placed the food on the table, stammering, 'Sir, I got the food for you.' He gestured to the couch, 'Sit down and eat.' I felt shocked, confused, and frustrated. Why was he telling me to eat in his office?
"I started devouring the fries, taking my frustration out on them. 'Laura, I didn't know you're a messy eater,' he teased, his eyes sparkling with amusement. I flushed, apologizing profusely.
"He walked up to me, his piercing gaze intense. 'Laura, don't apologize for being yourself.' I felt a flutter in my chest, my heart racing. 'Yes, sir,' I mouthed, feeling his gaze bore into my soul.
"I blurted out, 'It's 3:30 already, sir,' feeling overwhelmed. He cut his gaze, 'Let's get going.' I quickly grabbed my laptop, feeling his eyes on me as I left the office, my heart still racing."
"I grabbed my laptop and saw him come out , his presence commanding attention. His piercing gaze swept the room, exuding an aura of authority. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he led the way to the private elevator, descending to the conference hall. The room fell silent as we entered, about 30 people rising to acknowledge him. I recognized only Jayden, and my boss took his seat, his eyes scanning the room like a hawk.
"'Laura, sit down,' he instructed, his deep voice firm and commanding. I took a seat beside someone I didn't know, my heart racing. His gaze seemed to bore into me, as if daring me to defy him. 'Let's get this meeting started,' he declared, his tone brooking no dissent.
"He commended the head of finance on their report, but his tone shifted as he addressed the rest of the room. 'Some of you are lagging behind, and as heads of your departments, that's unacceptable. I'll be reevaluating your duties, and those who don't measure up will be held accountable.' His eyes seemed to pierce through each person, leaving no doubt that he was a force to be reckoned with.
"The head of marketing, Mark, a bald man in his early 30s, was called to present his report. I felt a sense of trepidation as Jeremiah's gaze narrowed, his eyes fixed intently on Mark. The air was thick with tension, and I wondered what would happen next
"I took a deep breath, walked to the slide projector, and began my presentation. My voice was clear and persuasive, my words dripping with confidence. I presented a comprehensive marketing strategy, leveraging creative and strategic thinking. The room was captivated, hanging on my every word. My passion for marketing shone brighter with each passing moment.
"Jeremiah's piercing gaze never left mine, his eyes burning with an intensity that made my heart race. His presence was commanding, his authority palpable. He was a boss in every sense of the word, exuding power and control. I could feel his eyes boring into my soul, as if daring me to falter.
"But I didn't. I continued speaking, my voice growing stronger with each passing moment. I presented data, visuals, and goals, painting a vivid picture of success. The room was silent, mesmerized by my presentation or so I thought . Jeremiah's gaze never wavered, his eyes fixed on me like a hawk.
"When I finished, the room erupted into applause and I breathed a sigh of relief . Jeremiah's eyes narrowed, a small smile playing on his lips. 'Impressive, Laura,' he said, his voice dripping with approval. 'You've shown me something today.' I felt a surge of pride, knowing I'd made a mark. But I also knew that with Jeremiah, you were only as good as your next performance."
