Bella's POV
My frown remains, even after Matt left. Everything he told me about my family still surprises me. They all hated me? He had to save me from them by begging them to let him marry me?
It's unbelievable that one's family would despise them. Isn't family supposed to be about love and protecting each other?
Lauren's laughter bounces from the other side of the room where she was chatting with some man she had introduced to me as her husband. I would have asked her why they hated me so much if not that it seems like she isn't getting off the phone anytime soon.
I sigh, choosing to distract myself with some telenovela instead of thinking about what I just heard.
Lauren finishes the call and approaches me. "Bella, I will be leaving for my hotel room. Let me know if you need anything else, even though it would be nice if you don't disturb me."
She says all this without looking me in the eyes.
