I continue crawling towards the door, not minding that at any moment, he is going to recover from the pains and catch up with me.
"H-help me! Somebody help!"
My energy is draining as fast as it could, but I still pounce at the door, "Somebody help me?"
When I become tired, I let my hand slide down from the door, knowing that nobody will come for my help. Matt will get himself up and come to rape me until he tires himself out on top of me.
"Is someone there?"
My eyes widen on hearing a voice. Help has been sent for me.
"H-help me! Somebody help me!" I scream louder.
"Shut it, you bitch!" Matt growls.
"Bella?" the voice asks as it nears the door, and only then did I recognize who it belongs to.
"Daddy!"
I watch Matt relax further on the floor instead of coming to continue hurting me. Also, hearing my father's voice must have scared the shit out of him.
The door pushes open a second later, and my dad comes in. I look up to him and see him taking in the whole scene. I am half expecting him to storm towards Matt and beat the hell out of him for daring to lay his filthy hands on one of his daughters.
However, a mischievous smile comes up on his face, "What kind of love are you both playing here? A dangerous BDSM, I presume?"
"Here comes the Vanderblib," Matt says, standing up from his lying position and beginning to dust himself off, "Your daughter here is one hell of a ride."
"You enjoyed her, huh? Told ya she is still clean."
A bile rises up from the pit of my stomach. Why are they talking about me like I am some object they sold to the highest bidder?
"Dad!" I scream his name.
"What, darling? I never knew your husband here likes it hot and dirty. Did you give him everything he wants?"
"This man here isn't my husband," I reply.
Matt bursts into laughter while my Dad shoots me an incredulous look.
"You can't be serious, Bella. Your wedding was barely 48 hours ago."
"I don't care how long it has been, I want a divorce."
I watch Matt and my Dad exchange a look before my Dad bursts into laughter.
"This girl is one naive thing. What has your mother been teaching you all these years she was preparing you for marriage?"
Matt comes closer and lands a slap on my face. The searing pain from the impact blinds me for a second. When I look up, thinking Dad would be furious with anger and questioning him on why he would slap his daughter right in front of him. He remains where he is, his face devoid of any emotion.
"Do you know what it took me to get married to you?" Matt barks at me.
I ignore him and face my dad, "Dad, I can't do this with this man. Mom never said I would be getting married to the devil himself. Look at what he has been doing to me. He almost raped me!"
Dad gives me one last look full of disdain before opening the door, "You can't be serious, Bella. You are already married. I can't lose all the benefits this union brought for us as a family all because of your whining. Get a grip of yourself."
He leaves the room, banging the door so hard it sends jitters all through my body.
Matt remains at the spot, glaring at me with a mix of amusement and anger.
The room remains quiet while I try to gather my emotions. Everything that has happened in the past two days has left me speechless. First, I was so excited about finally witnessing the happiest day of my life. Then I become devastated when my happiest day turns out to be the worst day of my life.
Almost attempting suicide along the line just because I couldn't handle the pain that comes with the betrayal. Now here I am, discovering that Jameson has been right all along. My father used me as a puppet to save his dying empire, not considering how I felt about it all.
He could have asked me about my feelings, my emotions. A simple 'how are you?' could have sufficed. I would have told him exactly how I felt about this marriage. Instead, his focus is on his business alone. How many benefits the union is going to bring to his selfish pockets.
"You have such audacity sometimes I wonder where it comes from," Matt finally says, breaking the little serenity I just started getting.
"This isn't about you. It was no longer about you the moment you decided to betray me after making a vow to me at the altar."
I look up at him, meeting his gaze for a split second before quickly removing it. I find out that I am beginning to find everything about him disgusting. His face disgusts me. So does his height, which I used to find very attractive. Whatever happened to the love I felt the first day he came over for our family function when I was still a teenager.
"What nonsense are you talking about, Bella? You are always blabbing rubbish."
"I don't care what you want to call it, but I want a divorce. I am no longer interested in this marriage."
"And what makes you think I will agree to such a ridiculous request, huh?" he asks me with an amusing look that leaves me speechless.
I try to get on my feet, but fail at the first attempt, making Matt laugh, "You can't even get yourself to stand, but here you are, asking for something that is impossible."
"Like I said, I don't care what you think it is. Or what you call it. I am just telling you what I want. I am no longer in love with you, and I am ready to end things right now!"
A flash of pain crosses his eyes as he lowers himself to my position. He grabs my jaw, squeezing it so tight I thought that it was going to snap into two from the impact.
"Now listen to me you little idiot. I saved you and your miserable family the day I agreed to marry you. I didn't marry you out of love. I just did it out of pity and the loyalty my family has with yours."
I try to remove his hand from my jaw, but since he is a lot stronger than me, his muscular arms didn't make any attempt to bulge.
"If I were you, I would do my miserable family a favour by respecting myself and my husband, which is me. You don't want your family going broke again all because of your stupidity, do you?"
He stands, raising me up with him. When he completely gets on his feet, he pushes me off his grip. I land back on the floor with a thud.
"You are just a piece of shit. I want to tell you that just in case you have forgotten. I own you. I own your family."
His steps become sharpened and majestic as he heads to the door. I watch him while the pain serenades through my body. How come he is not feeling anything considering that he has wrecked everything about me? In fact, the sharpness of his step suggests that he is proud of his actions. He is happy marrying me as a puppet, and not because he feels something for me.
Just then, I begin wondering if Amanda feels the same pride. She succeeded in sleeping with the love of my life before me. Does she feel good about her actions too? Does it make her feel like she is better than I am?
And Lauren. I swallow hard, knowing that that pain hits the deepest. While Matt and Amanda's betrayal might be a parallel move, Lauren's own is not. At least Amanda doesn't owe a partner an explanation of her actions. But Lauren is a married woman for Christ's sake!
What was she thinking sleeping with my husband when she has hers?
"I wonder what Lauren's husband would say about all of this?"
Matt's hands pause on the door knob. He turns with a furrowed brow, "What did you just say?"
I shrug innocently at him, "I am just thinking out loud."
"About Lauren's husband? Who is he though?"
The way he seems so interested tells me that something is finally getting to him. He is scared of something, which means his emotions will finally be getting in check.
"You know him…"
For the first time ever since I entered the room, my voice regained a little confidence. His silence means he is walking with me in my line of thoughts, so I continue.
"You know how powerful he is too. More powerful than your family if we are being honest right now. I'm sure you know what he can do, especially when he finds out what happened on my wedding night."
Matt finally flashes me a dangerous smile, "And who's gonna tell him about it? You?"
