Character Profiles

The Adults

Davina Glasson - 5'5, Black hair and grey eyes, pale skin. She was in her mid to late thirties at the point where her life ended. She was devoted to her children and challenged the societal perceptions within Glaston Township. Unfortunately, being so much ahead of her time also meant that she suffered from ostracization and hostility from the townspeople. There were only a few people she could count on one hand who later stepped forward to help with her plan to free her children from the blood bondage rite that the matriarch performed on the day of their birth.

Hermina Marten - mid-fifties. 5'6", strawberry-colored hair hazel-grey eyes, and pale skin. She had quite the life before becoming a solicitor. She'd been an adventurer, and hunter, and worked in various careers before settling into the profitable business of becoming a solicitor. In her case, she worked as a legal presence for various small villages and townships. She'd gotten to know Davina from her time as an adventurer and chose to look her up after she'd retired. Upon discovering the dire straits Davina landed within after having her first three children, not with her spouse from another township, Hermina took it upon herself to help Davina restart her life elsewhere. That's when Hermina learned about Davina's real problem and where it had begun. They resettled in Glaston Township hoping to break those ties that would eventually kill Davina if she wasn't freed from the blood bondage ritual cast on her from birth.

Joan Whitcombe - 5'6", brown-haired, brown-eyed, and in her mid to late thirties. She'd known Davina since they were children and always maintained a good correspondence with her. Therefore, when she married Marcus Whitcombe, he also became entangled with the messiness that was their ties to Glaston Township. Joan and Marcus had conceived several children before Davina had her first trio. Although none of their children had ever crossed paths, they knew about each other.

When Joan heard about Davina's plight, she and Marcus had discussed how much assistance they could afford to give Davina. They decided that becoming guardians to the quintuplets was something they could do since it also meant interacting with the elder three. They'd been informed about Davina's latest pregnancy and had made alternate arrangements to raise however many were born from it. What they hadn't anticipated was that someone would attempt to kill both Davina and the latest newborns due to their sire having been married at the time of conception.

In the end, both Joan and Marcus Whitcombe still opted to help Davina and that is how they became acquainted with Hermina Marten and discovered that she might have a fiery temper and sharp tongue, but she also had a big heart and willingness to find creative solutions to difficult goals that often came with surprising additions no one anticipated.

Marcus Whitcombe - 5'9", black-haired, brown-eyed, and tanned skin, mid-to-late forties. While not blood-related to Davina, and his wife, a stepcousin to her as well, he'd always admired Davina's courage. He also mentored her children from an early age because he'd seen their potential. However, when he heard of her shocking circumstances, he'd been at a loss. At first, Marcus hadn't wanted to become involved in what was essentially the unfortunate fate of an adultress. That was until he learned what exactly prompted her actions.

In the end, Marcus worked with Joan, Hermina, and Davina to find a solution to her distress and concern over her extremely independent and stubborn offspring. Admittedly, he had some qualms about finding anyone who'd be willing to foster thirty newborns. However, he wasn't willing to give up on the task. Nor was he willing to restrain the eldest three children from going off on their adventures either.

The Children

Harper Frost - maroon-hued hair and blue-green eyes, with gangly builds and heights over six feet. He tends to dress in plain clothing with black or brown boots. His personality is strong and he is a good leader. He has already manifested powerful combat abilities and knows how to use many weapons. He also enjoys working with magic and figuring out ways to imbue his weapons with that magic to make his attacks or defenses stronger. He has a protective nature that sometimes lands him in fights whenever someone threatens or insults his family.

Anara Frost - 5'2", has long black hair, medium grey eyes, and a lightly tanned complexion. She tends to favor long-sleeved blouses, snug vests, and knee-length skirts, or long pants with black boots. She has a gentle nature, is very empathic, and is a great healer. She has enormous potential as a mage as well. She loves reading and arts and crafts when she's not studying for classes.

Sherpa Frost - The youngest of the three triplets, he has maroon-hued hair and blue-green eyes, height over six feet and had a muscular build perfect for fighting, which he did, often, if provoked. Otherwise, he was proficient with blacksmith skills and cobbling all kinds of artisan work. He did have the potential for magic and elemental manipulation, but it hadn't awakened in him yet. He wasn't worried about that because it just meant he wasn't in the right area where his abilities would come forth. He had a fiery nature but kept it under tight control beneath a calm facade.

Daryl Payne - 5'2", with short black hair, and translucent grey eyes, pale skin. He is the firstborn of quintuplets and fiery-tempered because he was the smallest of them all. However, what he lacked in height, he made up for in everything else. At fifteen, he also believed that he still had the opportunity to grow taller. He didn't believe he was stuck at being so small. He favored nondescript clothing that allowed him to blend in with his surroundings. He was a good hunter and one of the highest ranked in the guild where he and his siblings were registered for taking on missions to keep their surroundings free of pests. He knew that not all monsters were inimical to humankind and tended to leave those alone. The rest that manifested harmful intent toward him and his family was an open season in his viewpoint.

Holly Payne - possessed platinum-blond hair and brownish-black eyes and were middling five and a half feet and taller as did their sires and pale complexion. She's the tallest of the girls. She enjoys hunting, patrolling, and scouting and disdains studies as boring. However, knowing that she needed an education to expand her horizons, she completed work with reluctance so that she could go about her favorite activities in her free time. She's loving and protective of her family.

Ambrose Payne - possessed platinum-blond hair and brownish-black eyes and were middling five and a half feet and taller as did their sires, and pale skin. He's more interested in studies, magical manipulation of elements, and working as an artisan. He'll hunt to gain profits. He puts it toward ensuring enough food is on the table. Whatever is left over is converted from currency into portable objects that won't make him a target for thieves and bullies. He can and will manifest weapons from sheer willpower alone, if threatened, provoked, and attacked for no reason whatsoever. That ability was an attribute that is recognized as very rare and valued in the township.

Jennifer Payne - possessed platinum-blond hair and brownish-black eyes and were middling five and a half feet and taller as did their sires and pale complexion. She likes wearing long-sleeved blouses, tight vests, swirling skirts or slacks, and high-heeled shoes or boots. She prefers using archery and knives as weapons of choice. She has no problems beating up bullies or jerks who dare view her as easily seducible. She worked in the inn with her mother when she wasn't in school or hunting to put food on the table.

Sapphire Payne - 5'2", black-haired, smoky grey eyes, and tanned complexion. She has a gift of foresight, extreme empathy, and a distaste for hunting of any kind. She has a strong healing ability and can create blessings for hunters to protect them against unexpected attacks. She is a good artisan and can turn out beautiful ornamental items that can be decorative or used as armor in the field. She can imbue items with protective charms when necessary. However, she prefers to save her energy in keeping her family healthy. Her secret inferior complex is that she wasn't able to help her mother stay healthy. However once she'd learned of her mother's circumstances, Sapphire felt somewhat reassured that her mother's ill-health and subsequent death wasn't because she failed at healing. It was that someone more powerful than them had cursed Davina in her youth for making bad choices that didn't fall into line with societal demands.

The matriarch - No known age, nor good physical description can actually be made about her. She has a wicked and nasty personality and dabbles in all sorts of unholy experimentation and forbidden necromancy. She is likely born from one of the demonic entities and came through a rift separate from the normal teleportation nodules. What is known about her is that she's powerful, likes collecting strong individuals who hold vast magical potential, and is plotting something very nasty that involves Barat, and the Glaston Township.

Let's hope she doesn't succeed.
