Somewhere in Brittany.
Minutes after Reginald's group arrived outside the house where Jack and his team were,.
"You! What the hell are you doing?"
Seeing their captain suddenly pushed to the ground, the two men accompanying Julio were frightened and couldn't understand why this was happening.
"Such noisy bastards..."
With his hands behind his back, Reginald ignored those people, walked slowly towards Julio, and said indifferently, "It seems power has gone to your head. You don't understand even a small part of what we're going through, so I suggest you keep your mouth shut."
Hearing Reginald's words, Julio suddenly had a sinister premonition in his heart. He secretly regretted coming here today and quickly opened his mouth to explain, "Sir, I'm not—"
One of the armed men standing next to Julio, who was holding him back, saw that this guy was about to speak, so he quickly covered his mouth to prevent him from saying a word.
"Alright, I don't have time to waste on your garbage here."
Looking impatiently at Julio, who was about to struggle, Reginald signaled to the two soldiers and said, "Send him back to the community. I really want to know what's going on with this idiot. If I see him trying to pull another stunt in my presence, his death will be more than deserved."
"And…"
As he spoke, Reginald pointed at Julio's followers and continued, "Take these guys with you!"
"Yes, sir!"
After receiving the order, the two armed men nodded. One of them dragged Julio outside, and the two raised their rifles, threatening death.
After all these people left, the scene returned to calm again.
Only then did Reginald approach Jack again and say with a smile, "That was just a little dramatic episode. Let's continue with what we were discussing."
"They seem to be soldiers. Their gear looks much more advanced than the conventional ones the military used before this damn catastrophe hit us hard. Alright, I don't want to evade what I know. I know your people killed many of ours in this place."
"What?"
Upon hearing the news, Jack immediately showed a look of astonishment on his face.
"It seems you didn't know or weren't the one behind those killings."
Closely watching Jack's face, Reginald continued to observe the subtle expressions on this man's face. He chuckled and said, "In that case, although I don't care, I can say it was in self-defense... Well, I really want to know what your purpose is in this place, and before that, we need to search the surroundings for any rats."
Then, he looked at the armed men, who were actually soldiers standing not far away in full armor, pointed to the surrounding buildings, and said, "Search the area inch by inch. I want everyone alive brought here."
"Understood!"
After receiving the order, the few men quickly walked towards the buildings and, with their weapons raised, began searching for survivors.
"Are there people?" Jack asked with a strange feeling.
"Oh, of course there are. Who do you think tipped us off that there were soldiers here?"
In a few seconds, several screams were heard in the distance, and then soldiers began dragging survivors out of the buildings.
Reginald could see the doubt on Jack's face, so he immediately said, "Well, we're in a silent struggle with a malicious group of survivors. Some of ours want to join them, and that really doesn't benefit us.
"Don't get me wrong, it's not about power or some similar crap. To be honest, I'd rather live growing potatoes than be a damn leader in my final years of life." Reginald smiled and said, "I know you're not passing through and that you're not our enemies either, so I really want to make sure we're not enemies in the future."
"What is that group called?" Jack was interested.
"I don't know why you want to know, but they call themselves the Wolves."
When Jack heard this, he looked at Emma beside him, and their eye contact was brief. "My name is Jack. I'm a simple captain of an assault group from an organization that's in the process of cleaning up this country, and we're investigating how we'll move forward in this place."
When Jack finished saying these words, several people lined up on the dirty road were pointed at with weapons, and the screams then stopped.
"Tell me, Jack, does that organization belong to the government?"
The soldiers in the distance ignored the actions of all these people and took it upon themselves to drag these unholy ones out one by one. Although some of the soldiers were a bit hesitant to hurt survivors they had recently cared for, it was necessary to preserve their own peace.
Seeing these things, Jack couldn't help but secretly be amazed, not understanding how these people had managed to hide nearby.
"The army no longer exists, but we're trying to recover what we've lost so far," Jack responded with a calm look.
Seeing that the soldiers had begun searching, the expressions of several men and women in the crowd suddenly changed. They slightly clenched their fists and slowly moved towards the back of the crowd.
"In all this time, I've learned many things. The first is that the Wolves don't accept any crap among groups, only select ones, and they always try to harm those who aren't to their damn liking. And the second is that those who are part of the Wolves always have a tattoo on their forearm."
Reginald's eyes rested on those survivors.
But as the soldiers searched for more and more people among that group, they had no way to retreat. If they moved back, they would definitely be noticed by the soldiers who were scanning them.
"If I'm telling you this, it's because my community has been infected by the Wolves. It's hard for me to trust anyone, and I think you should be very careful where you're from."
When Reginald finished saying this, his eyes fixed on a group of people. That group looked at each other and then slowly walked towards the back of the people in front, and then put their hands in their pockets.
"These people belonged to our community, but they were driven away because they openly suggested they wanted to remain with the Wolves, and it was suspected they killed several of our leaders."
"Guys, hands up!" shouted a soldier in a loud voice.
After checking most of the people in front, one of them looked at the last six men and women standing at the back. He had felt that something was wrong with these people for a while and kept moving towards the back of the crowd.
At first, he thought it was just fear, but now, seeing that everyone's expression was very calm and they had their hands in their pockets, he didn't know what to make of it. His vigilance suddenly heightened, and he was about to give a warning order.
Bang Bang Bang!
But before the soldiers could step forward to investigate, those people ran toward him simultaneously, all with guns in hand, raising them to shoot as they ran.
Before the soldier could take action, he was shot in the head, blood spurting from the wound as he collapsed to the ground.
The rest of the soldiers who were inspecting the area saw this, but they didn't panic at all. They didn't even think to draw their weapons. Instead, they all threw themselves to the ground with no intention of resisting the attack.
"Ah!"
At the same time, the sudden gunfire was like a series of bells ringing, and everyone watched as those survivors displayed expressions of horror. They were all terrified of being hit by bullets, so they screamed in fear while running in all directions.
The chaotic crowd immediately overwhelmed the armed rebels. Looking from the outside, it was truly impossible to discern their positions for a while.
"Just look at these pieces of sh*t. I didn't expect that some of the soldiers in my convoy were traitors!"
Gazing at the chaotic crowd in front of him, Reginald sneered at the corner of his mouth and loudly ordered, "Shoot, they're all enemies!"
Though he faced the crowd, his peripheral vision was still observing Jack's wandering expression, as if trying to discern something from him.
Sensing the faintly inquisitive glances, even though Jack didn't change his demeanor, his mind was in turmoil, overwhelmed by all this new information.
Of course, this was indeed the real purpose of his mission, but things had progressed in a very forced and... easy direction? How was it possible that they were obtaining information and that Reginald was telling them everything as if they were allies?
What's more terrifying is that South America was led by a united group of various communities, and right now they are in conflict with a group called Los Lobos.
Now it's clear that if he shows he's part of the organization that destroyed a group from Reginald's community, they'll be in big trouble that won't be resolved unless one of the two sides survives.
While Jack was thinking of countermeasures, with an order from Reginald, the soldiers surrounding them, who had been aiming their weapons at the residents, decisively drew the semi-automatic rifles in their hands.
Bang Bang Bang! Bang Bang Bang!
In a matter of seconds, the roar of weapons echoed, and countless shells were ejected from the barrels of the long guns, ruthlessly hitting both the traitors and those who knew nothing, and of course, killing Los Lobos.
Regardless of whether they were rebels or not, as long as they were in front of enemies, Reginald's soldiers fired mercilessly.
Suddenly, the scene became extremely bloody. Blood splattered all over the ground, and the residents who were shot fell one by one, screaming in pain, as if they were emerging from purgatory on earth.
"Fight these damn idiots!"
The rebels, who initially wanted to use the crowd to fight indirectly, never thought that the soldiers from the beaver community would shoot so cruelly. One of them, hiding among the crowd, roared and raised his weapon to fight back desperately.
But before he could fire a few shots, the soldiers turned their weapons on him and shot him, killing the man in an instant.
At that moment, other rebels were also killed by bullets from all directions as they tried to defend themselves. But consequently, all the innocent people also died or were injured.
"Damn it!"
Seeing this situation, Jack's eyes widened, filled with disbelief. He really didn't expect this group's armed forces to disregard innocent lives to this extent. They could be described as extremely cold-blooded.
"Surprised?"
Seeing the shock in Jack's eyes, Reginald chuckled and said, "It's not surprising. There are only less than thirty survivors here. If we give ourselves the luxury of protecting them now, our enemies will use them to kill us all, and there will be no survivors."
As he spoke, he slowly clenched his fist behind his back, and the fierceness in his eyes was evident. He said, "Compared to the casualties of a soldier who can fight, it's better to sacrifice some lives to save others."
"We must understand that we have to prioritize some people over others. I don't know where you come from, but around here, things are done this way... Food is scarce, there are no medicines, and damn bullets are a problem, and now an organization wants us as their soldiers."
"I understand perfectly, sir."
Looking at the fallen survivors all over the ground, Reginald told the soldiers, "Secure the bodies and ease the pain of the wounded survivors."
"Yes, sir!"
