Days passed quickly—more than anyone expected.
Dominic was now in Texas. It had been a few weeks since he left the border to think about expanding the territory in the country, and he encountered a problem. One of the scout helicopters was shot down, killing all the soldiers on board.
That was unforgivable, so Dominic decided to visit the site personally to determine the next steps. This kind of thing happened often, with people attacking and killing their soldiers. Normally, all the attackers died, but this time seemed very different.
The ground convoy had identified a community. Dominic traveled with a small group, including Alicia and others, to investigate this area that was just being cleared.
"Zz… Mayday! Mayday! We were hit by enemy fire; repeat, we have been hit by enemy fire."
"Zz… We have no control. Echolocation Eagle is preparing for impact."
Boom!
The audio signal seemed to be lost, but at that moment, a voice was heard. "Teddy will like this."
Crack!
When Dominic played this audio in front of the entire community, he looked at the leader and asked, "Tell me now, where are the killers?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." A woman with short red hair showed an expression of annoyance at the man's insistence in front of her.
"You're Addison, right? Just answer what you know. You are not our enemy, understand? If you help us, we can come to an agreement and give you everything you need. If you wish, you could even be part of our community." Alicia knew that Dominic's harshness wouldn't achieve anything.
There didn't seem to be many walkers in this place; it wasn't anything notable, but it was certainly good for living. The shelter they chose was also good, but it wasn't safe at all.
"We've heard of Teddy. We know he created a group called Vultures who work for him, but we never knew where they lived. We pay them to leave us alone; they're a dangerous group, so I wouldn't recommend you look for them," said Addison, who just wanted her community to stay unaffected.
"I decide who is a problem or not." Dominic said, crouching to Addison's level and asking, "For a strong woman, you're lacking intelligence. Haven't you seen us?"
Addison looked up at the combat gear Dominic and his men wore. It was evident they had no trouble surviving, unlike her group, who were barely getting by.
"You are lucky. I offer you a new beginning if you tell me where I can find the vultures. Unlike the famine here, you will once again enjoy a plate of hot food." Dominic snapped his fingers for his men to stop pointing their guns at these people.
The only reason they were conducting ground operations was that their resources were in areas where the war against the undead was greater, which was why Dominic wanted to solve this problem himself and explore new places.
"I want drones monitoring the area; let's see what's here." Dominic gave an order as his soldiers withdrew.
When these people knew they were safe, they slowly returned to their work. No one else bothered them, so they could continue.
"Addison, do what you have to do, but decide." Dominic said this before turning around and entering a huge modified truck.
