Chapter 116 - Evacuation

Early in the morning, numerous CH-47 Chinook helicopters arrived at the Alexandria community, where everyone was ready to leave.

All the families were boarded onto the helicopters, but one man was unable to join them because he had been eliminated. This man had been abusing his wife, so Dominic took him off the passenger list.

Very few were aware of this decision, but that's how things unfolded. At this moment, buildings in Washington had been cleared out to accommodate these people, so they didn't have to worry about where they would live.

The same procedure was followed with Hilltop, where Dominic decided to take everyone who truly wanted to accompany him. The Kingdom, where Ezekiel resided, was evacuated in a less friendly manner due to security and time constraints, leaving no opportunity for explanations.

"Are you ready?" Dominic asked Negan, who had boarded a helicopter with a suitcase, followed by his men.

Negan nodded, handed Dominic a list, and said, "If there are men you need to worry about, it's these ones. The rest are manageable to some extent."

"Thanks for this. I'll handle it." Dominic gave the list to Alicia, who immediately communicated it over the radio.

To simplify matters, dangerous individuals would be placed at the border where the threat was greatest, and anyone could die at any moment.

The reason Dominic didn't kill them directly was because they were valuable and many were formidable warriors. He needed as much manpower as possible to expedite things and establish a direct connection with Ohio.

First, he had to clear the walker-infested zones to establish a safe, direct connection and secure the border.

Ohio was one of the most dangerous states since walkers from Canada could easily invade it. Dominic's plan was to establish a base in Ohio and relocate civilians to Washington, where they wouldn't be in danger.

The Commonwealth was a large community that maintained its stability above all else. Dominic intended to take control, and his desire would become reality no matter how many he had to kill.

He wouldn't arrive asking if they wanted to be part of his organization; they had the right to be part of the united front against the Canadian walkers, as that was the primary mission they needed to undertake as humans.

Anyone who refused to fight against the invading walkers would be treated worse than a dog.

Negan's rough men would be moved to a military base, where they would be trained and drilled to follow orders. If they couldn't follow orders after that training, they would have the right to eliminate them.

"Hey, do you really think you can take back the country and return it to its former glory?"

Dominic, who heard this question, said, "First of all, do not address me in such a casual tone. From now on, I am your general commander, and I demand respect. I will teach you the respect many have lost. But now, to answer your question, we are taking back the country, and we will succeed."

By the time Dominic said this, much time had passed since the evacuation began, and everyone could see with their own eyes how Washington was more alive than ever.

The military was creating a second line of defense at the front, while new protocols were being considered to keep infections under control.

Everyone knew that at this moment, they had the opportunity to build a new future.
