As Dominic walked unarmed towards the governor's base, the governor himself emerged with all his men in trucks, parking not far from Dominic's position.
There were at least fifty men, all armed and ready to start a war—a war they unknowingly would never win.
"Good afternoon. I see you've met my subordinate. The situation in which you may have met wasn't ideal, so I kindly offer my apologies." The governor was about to approach further when Dominic raised his hand, forming a gun with his fingers.
Seeing this, everyone raised their weapons. Daryl and Merle grew nervous but made no move.
"Are you so nervous about seeing my hand in this position?" The mockery in Dominic's words was evident. He pointed to the insignia on his vest and said, "You should know where this comes from. Your men shot down one of my eagles, so you'll pay a very high price for it."
The governor frowned, looked Dominic in the eye, and said, "I don't see how that's possible. You see, things have been complicated for us lately, and we're just trying to survive as long as possible."
"Then, if I kill you all now, I can justify my actions by the fact that I'm surviving. By your logic, I should kill all of you now and bury you among the rubble of your homes." Dominic's eyes revealed the cruelty he felt towards his enemies.
Daryl listened to the entire conversation and thought, "This man is dangerous."
There are people who are frightened by just a glance. It is said that those who threaten with words are simply afraid, but among that group, there are certain moments when those who speak have the power to carry it out, and Dominic was one of them.
"Kill us? As far as I can see, you're alone against more than fifty armed men. Enlighten me on how you plan to kill us." The governor was nervous. He knew trouble could come his way as soon as he shot down that helicopter, but he didn't expect them to find him.
His eyes were on Dominic, but his ears were scanning the sky, expecting helicopters to approach. He thought that might be the case, but he heard nothing, so he looked at Dominic with a bit more arrogance.
"I'll give you one chance. We'll fight to the death using only a knife, or I'll wipe out your refuge and everyone inside it. I assume you have loved ones, so imagine the result—smoke, blood, and dust." The fake smile on Dominic's face was not an act; he was willing to kill them all.
Saving people is very complicated now, much more so when it involves killing their husbands, grandchildren, and children. Dominic would save himself all those problems and give the governor a taste of his own actions.
"Well then, die." Dominic lowered his hand and turned around, but the governor aimed a gun at him.
"You're not leaving here alive."
Dominic smiled and looked at Merle, who raised his rifle, but before he could shoot, sharp sounds that seemed to break the silence echoed. Everything happened too fast to process, but at that moment, several white figures flew visibly, and all the governor's men burst into flames.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
What followed was the bombing of their refuge, with everyone dying within seconds. The powerful explosion waves sent both the governor and Dominic flying.
Daryl also had no time to take cover, as the blast wave knocked him to the ground.
"No..." The governor, with his eardrums ruptured, wanted to stand up quickly to kill Dominic, but at that moment, the barrel of a pistol was pointed at his forehead.
Dominic, having recovered, held a gun over the governor's head and said, "You should have been a better man."
Bang! Bang! Bang!
