Chereads / FTWD: Survive the Zombie Apocalypse / Chapter 86 - A Woman with a Sword

Chapter 86 - A Woman with a Sword

When Dominic stepped outside, he felt the increasing cold, so he put on a pair of black gloves. At that moment, he sensed someone watching him and turned his head.

To his surprise, Dominic saw a shadow in the barn. Fearing it might be an accomplice of the people he had killed, he drew his pistol and aimed in that direction.

"Don't shoot; I won't harm you."

"Who are you?" Dominic was about to pull the trigger and shoot the figure holding a sword, but he stopped. He couldn't explain why, but something felt very familiar. As he thought about it, he noticed the white-handled sword.

Could it be her?

"I have a sick woman with me. If you can't help us, we'll leave. We thought this place was empty and apologize for not noticing you earlier."

"Take me to her; maybe I can help." Dominic lowered his gun but kept his hand on the hilt of his own sword, ready for any confrontation.

The possibility was high, and when the woman with the sword removed her hood, Dominic knew he was facing someone possibly legendary.

One of the women with better survival skills than most men.

"I'm Dominic; it would be more comfortable if you told me your name."

"Michonne, do you live here?" Michonne was highly suspicious of Dominic due to his military-like attire, the ease with which he agreed to help them, and his request to take her to Andrea, all of which made her uncomfortable.

What if Dominic wanted to take her to Andrea to kill them both?

At that moment, with such thoughts, Michonne was about to attack, but then she saw Sophia peeking out of the second-floor window of the house.

"Does she live with you?"

Dominic looked at Sophia, who quickly hid and said, "Well, we found her on the way, so to prevent her from dying, we brought her with us."

"Are you military?"

"I think I'll stop answering your questions. I have nothing to hide, but I don't know you, so we'll leave it at this for now." Dominic knew this person, but that didn't mean she was good with him.

Trust was good, but it wasn't a given.

As they entered the barn, Dominic said, "Yesterday, I killed some men who attacked me here. They ambushed me, but they were so foolish in their attack that I killed them without much trouble."

"We'll leave once she's recovered. I found her on the way here, so you would really help me if you have some food."

"Do you travel alone?"

Michonne thought for a moment and said, "Yes, do you also travel alone?"

"Sort of. The helicopter I was in was shot down, so we had to stay here for a while due to the injuries. If you help me, I might take you to my base."

"Now you trust me so suddenly?" Michonne wanted to know why Dominic had changed his mind so quickly.

Dominic thought and said, "You have a sword; I also have one, and I know from the way the walkers' hands, jaws, and teeth were cut that you understand the virus's instinct perfectly."

"How many people are in your refuge?"

"A little over a hundred thousand, isn't that great? We've been surviving thanks to fishing, farming, and controlled hunting." Dominic looked at Andrea, who was unconscious on the ground.

He knew she was here, or at least he had thought so for a moment.

"I'll carry her inside." Dominic lifted Andrea off the ground, but at that moment, Alicia appeared at the barn entrance and asked, "Friends or enemies?"

"They need help; they seem like good people."

Alicia frowned, looked at the woman in Dominic's arms, and lowered her weapon. "What's wrong with her?"

"I don't know; I found her in the woods." Michonne was surprised to see Alicia ready to kill.

"Are they bitten?"

"No."

Alicia nodded and said, "If you come inside the house, you'll have to hand over all your weapons. Last time, we were almost killed by strangers."

"Of course."

Dominic smiled, proud of Alicia's vigilance.

"What did you mention about the strangers?" Alicia asked Dominic, wanting to know what was happening.

Dominic approached Alicia and said, "We don't know the situation in this area. It would be good to have someone who knows what's going on."

"That makes sense..."
