Dominic looked out the window at the numerous military trucks; they would now be the ones taking control in the first few months of this disaster. Everything seemed fine at that time, but that was because the highest concentration of walkers was in the city.
"To be honest, no one is in control," Dominic thought, knowing that even he was moving back and forth on the waves of the uncontrollable virus.
But with all the information he had, Dominic knew he needed to have better control than the others. Here they had the opportunity to be strong and resist; in other places, there were variants that seemed stronger than here.
The things that had been changing compared to the world he remembered were very different, but that wouldn't diminish his desire to excel and truly create a kingdom for protection.
"Zz. How's the mission going?" Dominic walked to a corner of the house and communicated through a secure frequency.
"Zz... Plans are underway, but they will be delayed in several areas due to the appearance of military forces. How much longer should we wait?"
Dominic looked at the military forces, and after a while, he said, "Zz... The Cobalt order is in progress; they will only hold out for about two months at most before deciding to abandon several communities. Abandoning power to concentrate it at strategic points, we should be prepared by then."
"Zz... Understood, sir, we'll stay in touch."
Patience was the fruit of tomorrow. Dominic knew that if he wanted to dominate the board, he had to think carefully about his next moves, so he would make the following one now.
As Dominic headed towards the exit, Daniel stopped him and asked, "Who gave you this information?"
"It seems that your expectations for my plans are much easier to process, Mr. Salazar. All you have to do is stand by my side." Dominic smiled slightly, taking the USB drive from Daniel's hands, who was watching him vigilantly.
"Does this happen all over the world?" Daniel knew the files came from a laboratory in France.
Dominic nodded and said, "I don't know what this is; maybe a reset. However, I will make sure to take control of everything, and that will provide us with a better future."
"Are you going to give that information to the military?"
"Of course not; they already have this information since the infections started over fifty days ago, so it wouldn't add anything new. What I'm going to do is take control; at least this way, we could have more opportunities to survive." Dominic left the house without saying another word.
Now that Daniel could believe him a bit more, things would be much simpler if he had a point of support here. He supposed Daniel wanted to protect his family; if that was the case, then he would listen.
If things get more complicated than usual, then he would call Stuart to forcibly take over the base in this place; at least they would make better use of the opportunities here.
"Who eliminated all the infected in this place?" A soldier approached Travis, who was being interrogated by a woman seeking information about the inhabitants of the house.
"That's..." Travis didn't want to say who it was for fear of reprisals against him.
But at that moment, Dominic, who had gone out holding his rifle, said, "It was me. Any problem?"
The soldiers who saw Dominic with a weapon became a little tense, but none of them raised their weapon. "You shouldn't have a weapon."
"Are you out of your mind? Look around you and tell me again that I can't have a weapon. As far as I'm concerned, we should all have weapons to protect ourselves," Dominic said, looking at the soldier approaching.
But at that moment, Corporal Cole approached and said, "The major wants to speak with whoever eliminated all the walkers; come on."
Dominic nodded and followed Cole while handing his rifle to one of the soldiers accompanying him.
A few minutes later, they arrived at what was a containment center, and Dominic could see much more military power in this place.
But knowing his place, he didn't ask questions and soon arrived in a room where the one who led all the soldiers of this place was, and therefore who had control.
"Who are you, kid?" Major Moyers looked at Dominic, who, by reports from many people, had eliminated a large number of walkers around the community.
Dominic didn't know exactly what this man was looking for, but a vague idea came to his mind, and he said, "My name is Dominic Williams; I'm the son of a prominent member of the special forces. I received training from my father, sir; if you're shorthanded, I can join an elimination squad in the area."
Moyers was surprised that Dominic understood his purpose here more deeply and asked, "How do you know we're eliminating the infected?"
"The walkers, as I like to call those things, are guided by sound and crowds. It's no surprise that the majority are concentrated right now in the city. If that's the case, the navy would aim to isolate the communities that have salvation and eliminate all the walkers still roaming the outskirts to contain the spread." Dominic was very careful with each of his words.
This was part of the reality that was happening in this place; for that reason, many would stay here, but in the end, they would leave due to new orders.
"Sir, if you permit me to help, I can eliminate the walkers as long as you provide the necessary equipment. I know many more things than you do; I've killed many in different ways, and I know when they're dangerous." Dominic made a request that Moyers couldn't refuse.
"Why do you want to eliminate them? Most kids your age would be scared out of their minds. Why aren't you like them?" Moyers wanted to know what drove Dominic, and then he would make a decision.
Dominic thought about it and said, "My girlfriend was bitten by a walker; I shot her even when she hadn't turned, and like her, I also ended her mother. Do you understand my anger? If you give me the chance, then I will participate in elimination expeditions all the time."
"How old are you?"
"I'll be twenty soon, sir. I had planned to join the army, but things were becoming more complicated for me." Dominic lied a little about his age.
"Do you have any problem eliminating threats?" Moyers didn't want to take care of a bratty kid who couldn't control himself. "Even better, would you do what you did with your girlfriend for others?"
"There's no cure, sir; ideally, we should eliminate them before they turn into walkers." Dominic was sure of that, even if he was doing everything possible to get in.
Moyers nodded, as he had heard that they found more than thirty eliminated walkers around this place, so knowing who it was would be foolish to waste such a valuable resource. "Then, welcome to the Army National Guard; I'll register your entry as someone who was in reserve. Cadet Williams, welcome."
"I won't disappoint you, sir."
"I know you won't."
