Chapter 3 - A Deal with the Devil

The pounding bass of the nightclub reverberated through the air as Arthur and Circe navigated their way through the throng of dancers toward the VIP section. In the dimly lit corner of the club, a figure lounged in opulent splendor, surrounded by an aura of mystery.

As they approached, Circe couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity about the man who commanded such attention. Arthur, however, seemed unfazed as he greeted the stranger with familiarity.

"Evening," Arthur began, addressing the enigmatic figure before them. "Mind if we join you?"

The man regarded them with a cool gaze, his features masked in an inscrutable expression. "By all means," he replied, his voice smooth and measured.

Circe took a seat beside Arthur, casting a sidelong glance at their host. "I'm Circe," she introduced herself, extending her hand in greeting.

The man accepted her hand with a slight nod. "Damian," he offered in return, his tone polite but guarded.

As the introductions were made, Arthur wasted no time in explaining their mission to find "the devil," a shadowy figure rumored to hold sway over the city's underworld. Circe listened intently, her curiosity piqued by the cryptic nature of their quest.

Circe exchanged a glance with Arthur, uncertainty flickering in her eyes. "Your... connections," she began, choosing her words carefully. "We've heard that you have access to resources that could aid us in our search.

As Circe observed Damian Crossworth, she couldn't help but notice his relaxed demeanor. Despite his reputation, he exuded an air of casual confidence that belied the gravity of their situation.

Circe couldn't help but feel a twinge of surprise at Damian's laid-back attitude, considering his notorious status. "You're known for your... unconventional dealings," she remarked, choosing her words carefully.

Damian chuckled, running a hand through his hair in a nonchalant gesture. "I like to keep things interesting," he quipped, his smile widening into a smirk.

Circe found herself intrigued by Damian's casual demeanor, despite the gravity of their conversation. "Rumors of your involvement in various... ventures have reached my ears," she continued, her tone measured.

Damian shrugged noncommittally, his expression still relaxed. "Ah, rumors," he replied dismissively. "They tend to exaggerate, don't they?"

Circe nodded in agreement, disturbed by Damian's easy confidence. "Indeed," she agreed, her own demeanor becoming more relaxed in response to his.

Damian leaned back in his chair, regarding Circe with a curious glint in his eye. "So, what brings you to me today?" he asked, his tone casual yet attentive.

Circe took a moment to gather her thoughts before responding. "We require your assistance," she explained simply, her voice steady.

Damian raised an eyebrow in interest, a playful grin playing at his lips. "My assistance, you say?" he echoed, his tone teasing. "Well, I'm all ears."daimian's lips quirked into a knowing smile, a glint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Ah, I see," he mused, his tone tinged with intrigue. "And what's in it for me?"

Arthur met Damian's gaze head-on, his expression unwavering. "A favor," he stated simply. "A debt owed, to be repaid when you see fit."

Damian's smile widened, a hint of mischief in his demeanor. "A favor from strangers," he mused, extending his hand in agreement. "How... intriguing."
