Chapter 92 - The life of Hideki Tojo

Milcar's body shudders slightly, his mind momentarily ceases to process thoughts. In that fleeting moment, he observes the timeline, seeing the kingdom of Belzerg, the city of Axel—everything as he remembered. However, in the city of Axel, Milcar notices an older Aqua walking hand-in-hand with a little girl around two years old who shares her hair color.

Additionally, Eris walks holding the hand of a boy with white hair.

In an instant, countless thoughts and emotions flood Milcar's mind. From the reasons behind this occurrence to hypotheses of what's happening, followed by comprehension.

Milcar's eyes open with profound clarity, the universe reflected in his bright eyes.

Wouldn't it be obvious to simply enter that timeline and once again hold Aqua and the others in his arms?

Milcar narrows his eyes, feeling an uncertainty about this decision. It's as if he wants to see more of the universe that currently surrounds him, of this timeline.

The sensation of forgetting something important makes Milcar swallow, even though he has no throat. The amalgam of red viscous liquid that composes Milcar's core glows faintly, dimming and thus indicating that Milcar is deep in thought.

However, Milcar then observes Hideki Tojo. Hideki possesses half of Milcar's Qi, making him just as powerful as Milcar. Yet, Hideki only has Qi and lacks knowledge of Milcar's abilities or the proper use of Qi.

Milcar's power is not just Qi, but his experience and ideas about the universe.

Still, Milcar cannot easily kill Hideki Tojo; killing him would be like killing half of his own soul, and Milcar is unsure how that might affect him.

Though he has divided his soul in two, discarding the part contaminated by Hideki, Milcar still feels a slight connection with Hideki's soul.

Milcar quickly begins reading Hideki's memories to find a way to contain him.

"Born into an ordinary family, his father a blacksmith, his mother a seamstress, Hideki grew up with the belief that Japan was the greatest empire of humanity, the Japanese the superior race. Soon, Hideki joined the army and fought on the front lines…"

Milcar continues reading Hideki's memories, his eyes narrowing slightly upon finding something particular.

In one of his battles, Hideki met a woman, beautiful and radiant, slightly distant with a face that needed no makeup. Hideki had a brief romance with her; they seemed truly in love. Hideki had to leave her as the war intensified.

"I will return, remember, I will be a hero of Japan!... Well then, please.. will you marry me"

Hideki patted his chest, making the woman laugh slightly. Later, Hideki won several battles, joined the high ranks of the army, and rose to be second in command only after Hirohito. Hideki forgot his promise and only remembered it when he was almost sixty years old.

Desperate, Hideki returned to the small village where the woman lived, his heart beating with hope, fantasy, and regret. Upon arrival, he encountered some villagers, receiving the news.

There was an old woman in the village, her clothes tattered, her hair disheveled, appearing as someone driven mad by the war. She always spoke proudly, saying her husband is a hero of Japan.

The old woman died of starvation, her skeletal body with ribs visible, her hair disintegrating to the touch like ash after a fire. Her body was thrown into the nearest river to prevent it from stinking.

Hideki seemed to freeze upon receiving the news, his breathing quickened, his body moved rapidly to find the river the villagers mentioned, but Hideki found nothing.

As a man who had tortured many Chinese in the most horrific ways during the war, Hideki had never shown a fragile appearance. Yet, in that moment, he did. Desperate, Hideki stayed by the riverbank, rocking his body while hugging his knees until he died of starvation.

Milcar observes Hideki's life until he reincarnates in this new world. Before reincarnating, Hideki's desire was to become a wandering soul.

Hideki consumed the souls of people or animals that died, thanks to his constitution as a wandering soul, for many years until he somehow discovered a universal law.

Hideki then used his spectral energy to create several contracts and send them to the modern world.

The first to fall was a software developer, who unknowingly accepted the contract and was doomed to program the website where Milcar saw the ritual.

Milcar finishes reading Hideki's mind.

Milcar cannot help but be surprised; the laws of the universe are the rules governing it. Discovering these laws grants a person power over one of them.

Hideki discovered the law of transcendence—the ability to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. However, Hideki was too weak in his state as a wandering soul, which is why he used a method involving contracts.

Understanding a universal law doesn't require any power or anything special in itself; it's based on the mind's comprehension of the surrounding world, understanding the workings of even the smallest things and how they affect their surroundings.

Milcar has understood several universal laws upon reaching the golden core, which is one of the reasons he can simply stop time.

Milcar observes Hideki with large eyes before shaking his head.

Then, Milcar looks at the old man in the wooden chair. God-Father?

Milcar snorts coldly.

"God is dead, I suppose…", Milcar closes his eyes for a moment before placing his hand on Hideki's head.

Milcar's Qi moves, altering Hideki's sensory receptors.

Although Hideki is just a black amalgam that has taken human form, he still has some receptors and Qi that allow him to interact with the outside world.

What Milcar is doing is changing the functionality of these receptors within Hideki.

Milcar moves his hand, disintegrating the body of God-Father, which is just a corpse, and with his Qi, positions Hideki to sit in that chair.

"Now, you are doomed to forever repeat the scene where you discovered your beloved's death", Milcar murmurs.

Hideki Tojo can only see a terrifying scene—the village, the news of his beloved's death, his absolute rage and fear towards himself, and then his death by the river. The scene repeats and will continue to do so until the end of time.

"M...a...r...i...a…", Hideki Tojo somehow manages to murmur something while black tears escape his false eyes.

However, Milcar doesn't look at Hideki Tojo a second time; he leaves the hut, closing the door behind him.

For Milcar, the universe halts completely, time across the entire universe and timelines freezes.

Anxious for an answer that has been nagging at his brain for quite some time, Milcar quickly moves between timelines.
