"Why do these kids look like frightened fawns?", Milcar wonders curiously to himself.
A slight smile appears on Milcar's face, making the crimson mages shudder. Their bodies continue to tremble, and their wide eyes watch Milcar with terror.
"Hey, hahaha, I mean, I saved you, Right? So, Why are you backing away?", Milcar asks calmly, smiling, but his words only make the crimson mages shudder even more.
Among them, the village leader steps forward. Although his body doesn't tremble as much as the other crimson mages, he can still feel a deep fear within his heart.
"Sir, thank you..." The village leader doesn't know what to say. He simply expresses his gratitude before bowing forward, his mind seemingly not functioning properly.
However, among all the crimson mages, Yunyun, having quickly regained her composure, runs to embrace Milcar.
"Mr. Milcar, Mr. Milcar..." Yunyun's tears spread through the air as she throws herself to tightly hug Milcar's chest.
"Hmph..." Milcar smiles as he notices this, not at all bothered by Yunyun's actions.
The other crimson mages watch this with their mouths open, their minds unable to process what is happening in front of them. Is the village leader's daughter embracing that monster?
In the mind of each crimson mage, the scene of Milcar opening his mouth and the scene of Milcar turning Vanir into an apple are firmly etched.
However, Megumin also takes several steps forward, her face conflicted until she is in front of Milcar.
Megumin frowns with some confusion as if she's thinking about something. However, Milcar simply pulls Megumin's arm slightly to embrace her along with Yunyun.
To the crimson mages' surprise, Megumin's serious face relaxed as she hugged Milcar, not at all upset by Milcar's actions.
"This..." The village leader swallows hard. Right now, he wants to rush forward and pull his daughter away from Milcar, but his fear prevents him from doing so.
Despite the fear in each crimson mage's heart, one of them steps forward.
"I... sir... what... What happened to Vanir?", The crimson mage's question quickly made his companions look at him with eyes wide open.
Milcar also directs his gaze at that crimson mage.
In fact, the feelings conveyed by the simple glances of each crimson mage make Milcar aware of the situation around him.
Even so, Milcar continues to observe this person in detail, who looks more like an older version of Megumin.
Despite her years, her face still looks young. She doesn't have a sculptural body like Aqua, nor the tenderness of Eris. She seems more like a woman who has been poorly nourished for a long time. Even so, the slight hope in her eyes piques Milcar's curiosity.
"I... ate him..." Milcar smiles while patting his belly, waiting for the woman's response.
Indeed, Megumin, in her embrace, shifted slightly from side to side as if she were a bit uncomfortable.
The woman narrows her eyes before opening and closing her mouth a few times as if trying to say something.
"Hmph..." A difficult-to-understand murmur escapes the woman's mouth as she seems deep in thought.
...
"Hahaha!! You did it, you devoured the body of the demon king's strongest general, and yet... I want to ask, What did it taste like?", The woman took a couple of steps forward, puffing out her chest with barely any breasts, and looked at Milcar with bright eyes.
Milcar doesn't need anything else to confirm it; this woman must be Megumin's mother. Milcar's eyes open slightly at seeing the woman's childish behavior.
However, Milcar simply doesn't respond. He decides to ignore the woman and speak with the village leader.
After a conversation, it was concluded that the village of crimson demons would join the city of Axel and that each of them would receive a gift from Milcar. That gift is none other than the ability to cultivate Qi.
Even so, the village leader and the crimson mages have to prepare their belongings and some rituals to leave their village. The preparation should take a few days.
Milcar calmly accepted and decided to stay in the crimson mages' village out of simple boredom. After all, he wanted to get to know this place before it became completely deserted.
Milcar decided to stay at Megumin's house to experience living in a medieval world for the time being.
"Sir, sir..." Walking back to Megumin's house with Yuiyui, Megumin's mother, and a little girl with bright eyes in his arms, Milcar hears a voice calling him.
"Hmph..." Milcar says nothing. For some reason, this girl, Komekko, has been acting as if she knows him. Now, in Milcar's arms, Komekko seems to be playing with something in her hands while looking at Milcar mischievously.
"Sir, sir..." Komekko calls again, but Milcar remains silent.
"By the way, where is... Hyozaburoo?" Ignoring the girl in his arms, Milcar asks curiously. Megumin's mother, Yuiyui, narrows her eyes slightly, smiling as if remembering something.
"He said he would wait at home for the crimson demons to defeat the demon king..." Yuiyui smiles slightly, hiding some malice in her expression.
Megumin swallows hard, seeming to understand something, and Milcar nods.
"Actually, it's reasonable, hahaha..." Milcar shrugs. After all, he would have done the same if an unbeatable enemy had arrived.
At this moment, little Komekko in his arms moves like an annoyed cat and grabs the fabric of Milcar's clothes.
"Hmph... sir, sir, Can you tell me why you're deceiving my sister with that Yunyun?", Komekko looks at Milcar seriously. Even though she's being carried by Milcar, her gaze still annoys Milcar a bit.
"What the hell are you talking about?", Megumin shouts, making Milcar sigh with some fatigue. In fact, this conversation, where an angry Komekko tries to get a response and Megumin gets angry about it, has been happening for a while.
Although Milcar can use his Qi to travel great distances and avoid the hassle of walking, he really loves the landscape around these places and can't help but observe the tall, green trees around him with some peace of mind.
Yuiyui laughs slightly at how Komekko has misunderstood Megumin and Milcar's relationship.
After a few more minutes, Milcar arrives at Megumin's house. Calling it a house would be flattering that worn wooden structure that looks on the verge of collapse. Even so, Milcar smiles slightly as he observes this house.
