"Mummy, is that you?" Tulip's soft voice was heard. She was standing by the glass door, fiddling her fingers on her uniform.
Alynah gasped, turning to spare her a glance.
"Tulip, how did you get here?" She asked, her voice barely audible.
"Uncle handsome brought me here" Tulip replied happily pointing at Kayden. Alynah gave him a surprised look while he smirked. No wonder he stopped her from leaving the organization.
"Oh okay" Alynah mouthed and turned to leave but was stopped by Tulip's voice again.
"Mummy, will you join us?" Tulip asked, blinking innocently.
"No Tulip, I have things to do now" Alynah swiftly rejected with an obvious fake smile.
"Mummy pleeeeaaasse" Tulip pouted and Alynah bit her lower lip in annoyance.
"Mummy should I cry?" Tulip whined making Alynah gasp. Once Tulip starts crying, it's nearly impossible to make her stop. Now, Tulip is using that to blackmail her own mother. What a smart kid!
"You can join us, Alycat" Kayden chimed in.
Seriously?
Alynah heaved a deep breath and sighed in defeat. Her own daughter turned against her and teamed up with her boss.
They all settled on the couches while Kayden served lunch. Alynah tried so hard to avoid any conversation and gazes but hell....with Tulip there, it is impossible because she kept bombering her with questions.
When they are done, Tulip hugged Kayden and also insisted that Alynah should also hug Kayden. Alynah was helpless with this daughter of hers. What the heck is wrong with her? Tulip insisted or else, she will cry. The tensed Kayden and Alynah had to hug before Tulip giggled happily. No one knew her motives and God! Alynah will deal with her for that.
"You need to be addressed Tulip!" Alynah said as they left Kayden's office.
"I'm sorry aunty Aly"
Kylie was busy with her laptop when Brett came and stood in front of her, his hands slipped into his pocket as usual staring at her cutely. He was dressed in black jeans and peach shirt which complimented his caramel skin tone. His curly brown hair was covering his left eye and he got that usual stupid sexy smirk at the corner of his lips.
Kylie glared at him and continued what she was doing but Brett slammed the laptop closed.
"What the heck is wrong with you?!" he snapped.
"Are you seriously mad at me?" He asked instead and Kylie rolled her eyes.
"Just let me be in peace. I don't have your time, flirt jerk"
Brett smiled and leaned down close to her face.
"Brett, what are you doing?" Kylie gasped, feeling his warm breath on her cheek.
"We're in public Brett" she added, blushing.
"I want to talk to you in private" Brett whispered in a husky tone and backed off.
"Now!" He added and left.
Somewhere private...
"So you decided to follow me hunh?" Brett smirked while Kylie rolled her eyes.
"What's that you wanna tell me that is so urgent?" Kylie asked.
"Oh she's eager to hear" Brett chuckled and Kylie glared at him.
"I know I'm irresistible. I'm tall, handsome and cute. Can you resist me? Are you stupid?" Brett smirked. Kylie gasped as tears welled up her eyes. She had no idea she'd been crushing on the wrong guy. She turned to leave but Brett grabbed her hand and pulled her back.
"You wanna cry hunh? I'm sorry. I was just kidding" he comforted and hugged her tightly. Kylie sobbed and hugged him back, sniffling.
"There's something I wanna te you Kylie..." Her trailed off as they disentangled. He stared intently at her and smiled.
"Kylie Bryson, be my girlfriend, I love you"
Kylie gasped in shock and disbelief. She never thought a day like this will come. When Brett will reciprocate her feelings. He wasn't a jerk as she thought afterall.
"I know you do, just say it" he smiled making her blush.
"Me too"
"You too what?" Brett asked with a smirk.
"C'mon, must I spit it out?!" Kylie groaned, poking his shoulders.
"Fine, I love you too, Brett" Kylie replied in a fast tone. Brett smiled and pecked her lips.
"Office romance is prohibited!" Kylie snapped.
"And if I do?" Brett smirked.
"Mr Hart will sue you for it" Kylie replied while he chuckled.
"As if he doesn't have eyes for Aly" Brett mumbled, loud enough for her to hear.
"What do you mean?" Kylie asked.
"Nothing, I just said Mr Hart is the CEO of Golden Sparrow Graphics" Brett rolled his eyes.
"Lies" she poked his shoulders.
"Hey stop it!" Brett snapped but Kylie played stubborn and kept poking his shoulders. Brett got hold of her hands and pinned her on the wall.
"I told you to stop it" he whispered, staring into her Amber eyes. Kylie's heart somersaulted.
"I've stopped" she surrendered.
"Well, it's too late B2" Brett claimed her lips. Kylie's eyes widened in shock but she later followed suit and reciprocated.
"Don't be stubborn next time, or I'll implement more punishments"
Alynah was working in her laptop while Tulip was sitting quietly on the couch.
"Mummy, I got Nixie pissed off today" Tulip stated with a giggle. Alynah hummed in response.
"The Nixie I told you about who likes bullying me because I don't have a Dad" Tulip continued however.
"And?" Alynah stopped working and faced her, paying close attention.
"She said if that's the case why won't my daddy be the one to pick me up after school and I told her that's because he's always busy" Tulip narrated.
"Then?"
"So today when I saw handsome uncle at the airport, they asked if he's my dad and I told them yes, he's my dad" Tulip added and Alynah gasped.
"You said WHAT?! You told them HE'S YOUR DAD?!" Alynah yelled, suddenly pissed off with Tulip's statement. This is the first time she's yelling at Tulip since she was born.
"I just did that to get Nixie pissed off" Tulip poured.
"Why the heck will you say that?!" Alynah yelled again.
"I'm sorry....I just.."
"I don't care!!!" Alynah hit her palm on the desk and stood up, heaving.
Almost immediately, the television that was located on the far end of the office, playing in low volume beamed with a breaking news. It showed the picture of Tulip and Kayden at Scoop'N Buns ice cream parlour, then a picture of them hugging in the airport, and then a picture of them standing in front of Twilight Elementary School. With shaky hands, Alynah reached for the remote control and increased the volume.
"Mr Kayden Hart, the CEO of Golden Sparrow Enterprise is rumoured to have a hidden child which was revealed three days ago at the ice cream parlour. The news has sent shockwaves to the business world, questioning the nature of their relationship" the reporter's urgent voice broke out.
The remote control in Alynah's hand dropped as her back slipped down on the wall and she landed on the floor. She buried her head between her knees and cried out.
Not because she's mad at Tulip or something, but because she feel bad for Tulip. She kept reassuring her that her father will come back to her one day but...that day never came. And now, Tulip decided to get her own father for herself. But she chose the wrong person. Kayden is a public figure, his private and person life doesn't matter to the public. Everything about him is on the Internet. A little scandal will be the head searches for weeks if not months. She also feel bad for Kayden for putting him in a tight spot such as this.
Meanwhile, Tulip ran into Kayden's office with teary eyes.
"Hey birdie, what's wrong?" Kayden asked as Tulip jumped into his embrace.
"Mummy is angry with me" Tulip cried out loud as she buried her head on his chest.
"Why, what happened?" Kayden asked.
Evan burst into the office that same moment, panick, fear and shock written all over his face as he stared at Kayden and Tulip. He saw the news, but it's like Kayden is yet to discover the scandal.
"Because I told my friends you're my dad"
