For a good ten minutes, Cheng Wei was frozen at his spot once Xiao Mei dashed away.
The reason for his stiffness arose from the fact that he received a kiss.
Normally, at the age of twenty-six, this should be nothing to be astounded about.
However, the fact that Xiao Mei kissed him was more than enough reason to see such a reaction from him.
The same Xiao Mei who has extended nothing but her undisguised hatred and disgust toward Cheng Wei actually suggested a fresh start in their marriage life.
She doesn't want to end this relationship.
Upon the realization, a sense of elation settled down, but soon Cheng Wei suppressed that emotion.

She got this much information from the head maid; that's why nearly at eight in the morning, Xiao Mei could be seen heading toward the dining room in a slightly hurried manner.
However, just as she reached the dining room, Chen Wei was about to get up from his seat after seemingly being done with breakfast.
"Xiao Mei?" Cheng Wei was genuinely surprised to see the girl halting mid-way, with her expression entirely frozen.
"You...are leaving already?" Those words contained so much sorrow that Cheng Wei instinctively sat back down.
"It's not urgent. Did you need to talk something with me?" Even if it was her curses and arguments, Cheng Wei would hear it all.
Xiao Mei heaved a sigh before she made her way toward the table and said, "I wanted to have breakfast with you, that's why I set an alarm. But well...." Whether her expression turned a little droopy was because she was upset or just acting remained uncertain.
"I...have some texts to forward, so I will just do it from here." Cheng Wei didn't know how he should tell her, 'I will be right here,' without upsetting her; that's why he took out his phone and began sliding through his emails—needlessly.
Xiao Mei grinned at that before she saw a plate filled with pancakes and honey syrup provided at the side.
She wasn't originally hungry; however, upon seeing the light brown pancakes, her appetite got triggered as she picked the knife and fork from nearby and slowly began to slice it.
Taking the first bite, the fluffy sensation of the pancakes melted over her tongue and overwhelmed her taste buds.
'Is it normal for me to like sweet things so much?' Despite worrying, she took the syrup from the side and poured a little... just a little before taking another bite.
"...sho good..." She knew it was not good manners to talk while eating, but it was so good that she couldn't hold it.
The taste was so fulfilling and lovely that...she wanted to share it. And when that thought sprung, the only person who came into her view was none other,
"Mr. Cheng, please have a taste. It's super delicious." Extending the fork as much as she could, Xiao Mei offered the sliced pancake.
Cheng Wei nearly dropped the phone he was holding upon being offered to eat the pancake with the same fork with which Xiao Mei was eating.
Nevertheless, it was his wife's demand. There was no way Cheng Wei could have made her little arms get strained while holding the fork.
Leaning slightly forward he held the neck of the fork; he took the pancake.
Chewing on it, his entire focus remained on the expectant gaze, his wife beheld. Truth be told, nothing could be sweeter than that look, which ushered him to speak his mind,
"It's...sweet."
The smile Xiao Mei flashed upon hearing the compliment made Cheng Wei wish that he could have stayed a little longer with Xiao Mei. However, he knew that good things don't last long.
However, Cheng Wei wasn't disheartened. Far from it.
Compared to before, he had actually shared the table with his wife twice by now.
'Was she serious yesterday?' Even Cheng Wei wanted to believe...he simply couldn't. It was too big for a change.
Soon, Xiao Mei was done eating, and Cheng Wei didn't find any reason to accompany her any longer as he decided to stand up and leave.
It was then when suddenly, Xiao Mei called out,
"Ah, Mr. Cheng. Your parent's anniversary celebration is on this weekend, no?"
Hearing those words, Cheng Wei raised his brows before he responded, "En." After a short pause, he added, "Don't worry; I have already told them that we can't come."
Under normal circumstances, it was given that Xiao Mei wouldn't attend any gathering if it was from his side. And Cheng Wei has already talked about this to his parents. And now that Xiao Mei was injured, it was nigh impossible to even think about attending.
He was initially planning to send them gifts and tell them that he was busy on that day; however...
"But Mr. Cheng, I have already decided what I want to wear on that day...."
