Chapter 90 - *C84 - The Asgardians.

This chapter may be a dealbreaker with the direction I am taking this fanfic of a fanfic, but I've already thought of a way to tie in all my changes that I've made since C01 to make it "fannon", you will just have to wait until the end of Volume 2, where big questions get answered and a special guest makes an appearance.

~ With Frigga ~

[But I'll be honest here, when no one was looking, I tried to lift it myself, and I SWEAR TO GOD IT MOVED A LITTLE! BUT NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE ME. . .]

As Frigga read Luke's confession to being able to move Mjolnir, however slight it may be, it only served to increase her already growing curiosity towards who Luke was. Not just anyone would be able to lift the mighty Mjolnir, for only the worthy would be able to.

'Not many people should know about the intricacies of Mjolnir. For him to be able to move it slightly only goes to show the kind of character that he is, and that he may be worthy in the future.' Her impression on Luke had improved a little.

[There's really nothing much to say about Thor, though. He has never really been a presence within the life of the other Avengers. Well, he isn't to blame for that. He is the only Avenger who does not live on Earth anyways.

But throughout the time that I have met and interacted with him, I learned that he is a very straightforward person, unlike his brother Loki. Thor values Honour, Duty, Family, Friendship, and Strength the most. Values that he embodies and carries with him. Loki, on the other hand, is a piece of hard work.]

'They certainly sound like my sons.' Frigga sighed amusedly.

[But even though he is not a constant presence in our lives, when shit hits the fan and our backs are against the wall, we could always count on Thor to be there for us and pull us out. Hell, he was the only reason why we almost won against Thanos during the battle for the stones.

Off the back of losing his home world, Asgard, a battle-worn Thor was attacked by Thanos. And although most Asgardians were saved from their world's destruction, Thanos's sudden appearance had reduced the survivors to just a mere few hundreds.

These were Asgardians, and while many of them weren't warriors, Asgardians still had the physique many times greater than humans could ever dream of, most of them could even beat the Captain in an arm-wrestling match. And yet, almost all of them had died in a one-sided massacre by Thanos and his army. Thor even had to watch Heimdall murdered right in front of his eyes.

Despite that, it did not stop him. Even after this devastating defeat, when Thanos came to Earth afterwards and we were on the verge of complete defeat, it was Thor who came back and turned the tide of the battle single-handedly. His unbridled rage and fury were fuelled by his vengeance for the loss of his people.]

'By the Gods. . .' Frigga was left heartbroken as she read of the fate of her people and of her son.

[And while that battle is still far into the future on this world, I can still vividly remember the dire situation we faced at that time. It was just after the separation of the Avengers. Tony had disappeared into outer space on a random spaceship, AND IT WAS NO FAIR THAT THE NEW KID GOT TO TAG ALONG AND I DID NOT! I MEAN, THAT'S OUTER SPACE!]

However, her sombre mood was short-lived as Frigga raised her brow in confusion, 'How is it possible for this person to start writing so seriously and on such a despairing topic, only to reverse it and then behave so. . . Immaturely. His behaviour is definitely not suited for nobility.'

However, as soon as she ended her thoughts, she chuckled to herself, finding the irony in her statement. 'He behaves just like my Thor.'

~ At the same time with Natasha, in her new apartment in Los Angeles ~

Natasha's main focus was on the situation with Tony Stark and Obadiah Stane. Although she read about Thor, she did not care much about them as they did not have any immediate impact to the situation of Earth just yet. She would file their information for the future for when Thor finally arrives on Earth.

However, right now, she was more interested in the developing situation of Obadiah Stane. Unlike Luke, whom she believed had no inclinations to believe that Fury was behind the sudden arrest of Stane, she had known that Fury would be making a move, but she did not know what move he would make nor when.

Additionally, she was also curious about what role she would play now that her intended fate had been changed. 'According to Luke's diary, my first meeting with Tony and Pepper should have been after the fight with Stane. But I am now friends with Pepper, and Stane is arrested. What does that mean for me?'

The reason why she was thinking of her role was because of her supposed destiny in the far future. The little things surrounding her fate were changing.

'Then, does that mean in the future, there could be a way for me to come back alive too. . .'

~ At the same time with Fury, in his personal office within SHIELD HQ ~

Unlike Natasha, Fury gave his full attention to the information regarding Thor. The only time where Fury had encountered extraterrestrial beings was in 1995, where an invasion had almost happened but was thwarted by Carol Danvers.

'It seems that the next appearance of a potential Avenger is already decided.' Fury thought as he took out a file from his desk. The file contained any and every known legends, myths and rumours surrounding the Norse Mythology gods, known also as Asgardians, who had intrigued Fury for various reasons.

One of them being the era in which the Mythology had been prevalent. The earliest known records of the Asgardians and Thor could be traced back as early as the 8th century. This meant that Thor would have been at the very least over a thousand years old, easily surpassing the life expectancy of humans.

And another being that in the recorded legends and myths, it was said that these Asgardians were always fighting against mythical creatures and ending up victorious in each battle. This spoke of the perceived strength that they held, something that Fury did not want to be on the receiving end should they ever appear.

It also did not help that Luke had written that Thor had single-handledly turned the tide of what he presumed to be a large-scale war. 'From the entry, Thor should be coming to Earth soon, I will have to keep an eye on this development and ensure that the HYDRA agents within does not go anywhere near him.'

~ At the same time with Wanda, in her apartment room in Los Angeles ~

Wanda shook her head. 'Luke. . . His bipolar personality is showing again. . .'

It was no longer a strange occurrence to her to see Luke being able to do a complete 180 in his behaviour. She had spent most her time since the battle with Luke, getting to know him. And while his behaviours would at times get on her nerves, she still found it to be an endearing characteristic of him.

[And speaking of new kids, Wanda and Pietro's birthday is almost here! I even forgot to bring up the birthday conversation with Wanda, but thankfully Crystal was there to save the day. And while she may not know this, but suggesting her to accompany Pietro is the best way I could think of to give my thanks.

Now I won't look like a creep for knowing their birthdays and giving them birthday presents when they never even told us about it. Dodged a bullet there.]

'And thanks to him, I am now alone in the apartment at night for the first time since coming here.' Wanda shook her head again. Her life had been moving at a constant pace of change ever since she received the diary of Luke. But the one thing that remained constant, was the presence of Pietro. But now, even that has begun to change thanks to Luke.

However, Wanda did not mind this. She saw the genuine happiness that Crystal brought to her brother and would give her blessings if they ever wanted to go serious. Moreover, she also knew that Pietro would give her his blessings if she ever went serious with Luke as well.

[But I hope Wanda likes my gifts. She may not be my Wanda, but spending time with her again is like rediscovering all the reasons why I fell in love with her in the first place. This time for sure, I will save everyone. I will save her.]

Wanda blushed at Luke's sudden admittance. 'But, it's weird. . . I don't know if these new feelings for Luke that I'm starting to have are a result of the interactions I've been having with him. Or if it's influenced by whatever it is that has been happening to me since the battle.

These days, I find myself filled with foreign fragments of memories and emotions. I still have no idea why, and I can't ask Luke about it or else he'll figure out that his diary isn't as private as he thinks it to be.'

Seeing that Luke had ended his entry, Wanda was about to close the diary and go to bed when she felt the faint presence of the person who visited her on the night of the battle. Knowing who it was and having had time to prepare mentally over the weeks, she sat in silence, waiting for her to appear.

"You can sense me before I manifest?" A voice asked in surprise.

"I can." Wanda started, turning her head to face the newcomer, "I've been waiting for you, Wanda."

The Other Wanda stood at her spot, her brows raised at Wanda's statement. "You knew I would be back?"

Wanda shook her head. "It wasn't so much as knew, but hoped. I needed answers, and you were the only one who could give them to me."

Instead of replying immediately, the Other Wanda slowly paced around the room, gazing at the decorations. "You know, when I was your age, I didn't get such a nice room to myself. It must be nice being free so early, huh." She muttered, more to herself than to Wanda.

Wanda did not know how to answer, unsure whether her alternate self was angry, envious, jealous or happy for her improved situation thanks to Luke's interference with the world. Sensing this, Other Wanda simply chuckled before taking a seat opposite Wanda on the other side of the bed.

"Oh, don't worry. I'm you, remember? I'm happy enough to know that you're having a better time than I was before I met Luke." She revealed.

At this, Wanda couldn't help but ask, "What do you mean by that? You know Luke?"

"Again, Wanda, I'm you. I can see through the hidden question you want to ask. So, don't be afraid to ask me about it." Other Wanda shook her head as a gentle smile adorned her lips.

Dropping all pretences, Wanda finally gathered the courage to ask the question she had wanted to ask all these while, "Are you. . . his Wanda?"

Other Wanda did not answer verbally but simply nodded her head.

Suddenly, a realization hit Wanda when she thought about the way she asked her question. "Wait, how did you know that I know about Luke being from another world?"

A smug smile formed on her lips as Other Wanda replied. "Who do you think sent him here?"

Wanda's eyes widened hearing her counterpart's answer. "You can do that?!"

"WE, can do many things, Wanda." Luke's Wanda said, raising her hands as a familiar red energy danced on her fingertips, "Well, for the moment, I can do many things. You, on the other hand, can't. Your powers are being held back since your body still isn't strong enough to handle the power we wield."

Wanda was in awe as her eyes focused on the red energy. However, before she could be swept away by the prospects of her powers, she thought of a confusing aspect of the other Wanda's presence before her.

"Hold on. If you're me, and I'm you, but we're both from different worlds. Then why is it that recently, I've been starting to get visions of a life I knew I never lived? Also, I haven't awakened my powers yet, and I may never awaken my powers since I may not go through the same events that you went through when you awakened your powers."

"These are very good questions, Wanda. I'll answer your second question first." Luke's Wanda replied, reaching out a hand towards Wanda. "Grab my hand."

Wanda was sceptical at what Other Wanda was trying to do, but seeing the gentle smile and not feeling any malicious intent coming from her, she decided to trust her and grabbed her hand. No sooner than when she grabbed it, Wanda's entire body felt a warm sensation flowing through her, before manifesting into the same red glow appearing on her hands, just like the other Wanda's.

"Oh. My. God." Wanda muttered, slowly removing her hands and feeling excited.

"Indeed. You've already awakened your powers, Wanda. It is the reason why you, and the other two, survived during the battle. And it is also the reason why I am able to come here and visit you. As for your first question, I do not know."

Wanda's attention refocused onto Other Wanda, the red energy slowly dissipating from her hands, "Wait, you don't know? But I thought you did this."

Luke's Wanda shook her head. "While it is true I was the reason Luke lived and was sent here, but even I do not know much about our powers. What you are experiencing may be due to the early awakening of your powers, or it may even be a side-effect of me using my powers. But in the end, I cannot give you the answer you are looking for."

Wanda was about to speak up, but Luke's Wanda simply raised her hand. "Listen, I do not have much time, it's already taking me much of my powers to be here like this. There are a few things you need to know, Wanda."

At the Other Wanda's words, Wanda simply nodded and gave her full attention.

"First, it would be best not to use your powers until you reach the age of 18. That was about the age where I was aware of my own power's awakening. Second, not much is known about our powers, and the only thing I do know is that we are stronger than we can ever imagine. But with this great power, it comes with-"

"Great responsibility." Wanda interrupted, causing Other Wanda to smile.

"That's right. But don't take it at face value. Luke has always told me that although he believed in that saying, he also believed in an eye for an eye. Being with Luke has thought me that I was responsible for how I used my powers, not how others wanted me to use it. Remember that, Wanda."

However, as she finished, her figure slowly began to fade away. Wanda's eyes widened again in surprise as Other Wanda sighed in resignation. "It seems I've reached my current limit. I will return again in a few days, Wanda. But before that I need you to know that his greatest strength comes from yo-"

And just like that, Other Wanda disappeared just as suddenly and abruptly as she appeared, leaving Wanda alone in her room once again.

Irritated and desperate, Roger took a deep breath before storming back into the interrogation room. Seeing his reaction and knowing what was going to happen next, Carl sighed before following after him.

"What did you do!" Roger demanded as he walked into the room.
