Postmortem - horror story

It must be 8:30 in the night...

'Maruti Rao', who was doing the post-mortem, started walking towards the post-mortem room with hasty steps. He was known for his many years of post-mortem experience. Shadow color and solid build. His black beard and naturally rugged face seemed to suit his work. Even if the condition of a corpse is not visible to the police, such corpses are handled without hesitation. Even decomposing corpses can be easily autopsied by thousands of white squirming maggots that feed on the decayed bodies by rainwater. His courage was always appreciated by his colleagues in the government hospital. It is because of his courage that the senior doctor 'Savant' of the hospital has a special liking for Maruti Rao. The conversation with Dr. Sawant Saheb last night was echoing in Maruti Rao's head as he walked.

last night..

It was half past eleven in the night, Maruti Rao was lying on the sofa with his eyes closed in the outer hall of his small bungalow. Looking at the clock on the wall, he picks up the phone...

"Ha, speak Sawant Sahib..."

So said Sawant from the other side.

"Maruti.. there is a guy. He wants to be fired.. I mean he is talking back to me.. so I put you on duty..."

"Sir, what is his name?"

"Deepak.? This is Deepak's name. He is a fair, slim boy."

"Sir, consider that 'Deepak' to be extinguished. Because working in the post-mortem department is not a trivial task..."

"Maruti, can I ask you something..?"

Sawant Saheb's hesitant voice was correctly detected by Maruti Rao.. But Maruti Rao spoke very easily and said..

"Hey sir, why are you hesitating? Thinking."

"Maruti, you have been doing post-mortem for so many years.. but do you believe in ghosts..?"

"Ghost.? Ha ha.. Sir, these are all fake stories.. and I don't believe in such fake stories.." Maruti replied confidently.

"Well, let's go, sir, when are you coming..?"

"Oh, I'm still in Mumbai. I'll reach there tomorrow evening without a car. Eight hours of travel will take time. And yes, Maruti, that boy, that is Deepak, is a specialty.."

"Specialty..? She and what kind..?"

"I'm at work now, I'm coming there tomorrow. Let's talk when we meet."

Having said this, Dr. Sawantani cut the phone..

Last night Dr. A slight smile spread on his face as he remembered this conversation with Sawant... Today Sawant Saheb had again entrusted him with another task... Unwanted employees used to be assigned the duty of Maruti in the post-mortem department, that means there is no need to reduce the work, they resign from the job themselves.. .

Walking, they reached near the post-mortem room behind the government hospital. That building is very old. Although the building was slightly renovated from the inside, the outside looked discolored, dilapidated and shabby. Like an old man in despair at dawn. Adjacent to the building was a cluster of pale pink umbars under a tall and standing umbar tree that had grown strong over the years. There was always a crowd of relatives of the dead under that tree, even today.

As they entered through the open door of the post-mortem room, the usual pungent smell of phenol entered their nostrils. The post-mortem room was extremely clean... The floor and walls were tiled with white tiles up to a height of about five feet. A young man in his twenties will be seen standing there on the right side. Wearing a dark blue shirt and black jeans. The body is a bit slim, the fair face is extremely bright. He was looking at the post-mortem room with his right hand straightening his shiny black hair that was set to one side. .

"What is your name..?"

Maruti Rao's hoarse voice came to his senses...

"S, Sir Deepak.."

Maruti Rao recognized. This is the 'diva' sent by Sawant Saheb. Maruti Rao said with a slight smile, giving him a sidelong glance.

"Deepak...? Hmm, don't faint while watching the post-mortem, it's done, Deepak.."

Maruti Rao put on the post-mortem dress and tied a parrot-colored plastic paper in front of him and looking at the dead body on the post-mortem table, said to Deepak...

"If you are afraid, tell me now.. No, because many people have fallen here because of dizziness."

And while speaking, he removed the white cloth over the dead body. Maruti Rao said seeing the condition of the corpse very easily.

"Looks like a young man in his twenties. The skull is mangled, which means someone killed him with a large stone on his head."

Seeing the condition of the corpse, Deepkan quickly closed his eyes.

"Are you scared now? The head is split... What will you do when you have to take out those different parts of the body during the post-mortem..?"

Maruti Rao's speech also bothered Deepak.

Taking some courage, Deepak looked at the dead body and said very calmly.

"He was not murdered.. While going on duty, the car had slipped when the wheel of a heavy vehicle ran over his head. Due to this, even his face cannot be recognized."

"Oh, are you so brave.. you started drawing conclusions just by seeing the dead body?"

Deepak was silently watching everything without saying anything... Maruti Rao picked up the surgical blade from the stainless steel tray placed next to the autopsy table and looked at Deepak and repeated.

"Why are you so scared...? The post-mortem is doing the same. But it seems that the key is coming to you.?"

Looking at the dead body with wide eyes, Deepak said in a serious voice...

"What would it feel like to see his soul coming out of his body and seeing his own body being autopsied...?"

"Its soul.? Where is it..? Just show me too." Deepak said on Marutirao's sarcastic words.

"Want to see..? And even if I show you his soul, you will believe it..? Because even the face of this dead body is not recognizable, how will you know that it is his soul..?"

Hearing Deepak's speech, Maruti Rao raised his eyebrows.

"Souls...? Huh. Pure nonsense, fables, and we don't believe in fables like that."

But Deepak said calmly and seriously.

"Fabric stories..? Sorry sir, but no one believes them unless you see them. And yes, whether you believe them or not, it doesn't matter to them."

He said to Deepak's upset face.

"These ghost-farms scare us just by seeing our post-mortem work..." Maruti Rao was speaking with great confidence.

"How are they afraid to be afraid. Where do they have a body to get hurt, pain..? They can walk anywhere without any hesitation, even in front of you."

Maruti Rao was a little angry at Deepak's challenging speech. Deepak's face turned pale as he quickly placed the surgical blade in his hand on the neck of the dead body on the table and dragged it up to the stomach. But in front of him he was watching the horrible scene with wide eyes.. Looking at Deepak's discolored face, Maruti Rao put his white gloved hands inside the torn skin of the corpse and took out the pulp of red bloodied organs.

"Did you see the state of his lungs? The result of alcohol, cigarettes."

Looking at Deepak's upper pocket with a slanted look, he said with a slight smile.

"Your lungs must have been in the same state. Let's check right away, shall we?"

He said somewhat jokingly. But Deepak was watching everything calmly without saying anything. Charachara tore apart the body and Maruti Rao was taking samples of all the necessary organs one by one.. With a hammer he separated the skull like opening a lid and looked at Deepak but he was looking at the dead body with an emotionless face. Looking at his face, Marutrao said in his mind

'The boy looks a bit brave'.

And repaired the torn body and put the stitches properly again..

"I will do the post-mortem on the next dead body... today you just look."

Deepak said looking at him and covered the post mortem dead body and placed it on the ground... He noticed the other dead body which was kept on the side.... The body covered with white cloth has come before...

The name of the deceased is written on a pad next to the corpse. Seeing that, Maruti Rao narrowed his eyebrows slightly and looked at Deepak Kad. But he was still standing somewhat boldly.. Now they did not understand whether he was really bold or pretending to be bold. That is, some people have it, no matter how scared they are inside, they don't show their fear on their face. After reading the information written on the pad, Maruti Rao moved the white cloth over the corpse's face separately.

With that, the pad slipped from his hand and fell on the table. Maruti Rao's face, who was walking under an extraordinary confidence from Magha, was flushed. He quickly turned away from the table. An extraordinary fear seemed to have entered his head.. Seeing his condition, Deepak slowly walked to his side.. Looking at the dead body on the post-mortem table, he said.

"Are you scared..?"

Maruti Rao could not believe his eyes. They were looking at the dead body in front of them in horror. Keeping his hand on his shoulder, Deepak said quietly..

"There is a different world of ghosts and souls.. Now people like you deny the existence of such invisible forces by understanding them as myths. But their existence does not end with the denial of someone."

Maruti Rao was completely stunned due to a strong mental shock.

' So you are not dreaming, are you? No, this is true.'

His mind was dumbfounded... He immediately turned his neck back towards the dead body which had been postmortemed some time ago... and kept on watching... The essence was beyond his imagination... Seeing this state of Maruti Rao, a strange smile spread on Deepak's face. .. Looking at their pale faces Deepak said...

"Your face is telling, this is the first time in your entire life that you have faced something like this."

Opening the same door, Senior Doctor Sawant and his colleague Shinde came in with quick steps. And looking at the dead body on the table said.

"How did this happen suddenly?"

Shinde said so.

"He had a heart attack in his sleep at night. He slept at night and did not wake up."

"And the soul of such a sudden death is not ready to accept that the same body is gone. But the soul continues its daily work."

Deepak's charm caught the attention of both.

"Oh yes, Shinde.. this Deepak. From today, he is a regular. And this boy has a specialty. That is, he can communicate with dead souls." Shinde Uphasan said after hearing the words that came out of Dr. Sawanta's mouth.

"So his soul has come here to work along with the dead body of our Maruti..."

Dr. Sawant jokingly said,

"Ask him, I don't believe in ghost stories. And Shinde, do an autopsy on both the dead bodies on the table."

Similarly, Deepkan covered the face of Maruti Rao's dead body on the stretcher by sliding a cloth over it and Dr. Fixing his gaze on the slightly open window beside Savant, he said with a slight smile...

"Where did Maruti Rao believe in such fairy tales?"

But Dr. Sawant became numb after hearing these words out of his mouth... As he glanced at the window beside him where Deepak's eyes were fixed, a gust of cold air rushed out from that window...
