Outside in a wide field, Roman stood before Sophia, saying goodbye as the darkness of night had already fallen. Although he could have stayed the night, he knew he had to return to Bianca and attend to the contract that had been drafted and delivered. Sophia's puppy eyes pleaded with him to stay, but Roman's resolve was firm.
He caressed her cheek, his touch gentle, and leaned in for a long, deep kiss. "Don't worry, I'll keep in touch. I'll come visit when I'm free," he promised, his voice soft and reassuring.
Sophia hugged him tightly, her arms wrapped around his waist, before finally letting go. "Love you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
"I love you too," Roman responded, his eyes locked on hers, filled with affection and longing.
