I shiver. She's smiling, but her eyes aren't at all. What's gotten into her. She then starts helping me up. Maybe I misheard her. Yeah, it's quite windy out so maybe it made the way I interpret her voice change. We make it upstairs to the room I'm staying in and she helps set me down on the bed. "Kaital,if you like Kyle, just know I don't like him, I simply fell and he helped me." She closed the room door behind her. She stood facing away from me. "I don't like him, Zeil. I just want you to stay away from him." I try to test the water. "Why…" "If I tell you, you'll probably hate me." I notice I'm not mistaking it now. Her voice. It's changed too much. It's so deep, like, it's not her at all, or maybe who I knew to be her, was not her at all. "Kai, are you angry?" "No! Not at all! Why would you think that? I'm simply worried that you hurt your foot, that's all. I can't help but think that maybe Kyle had something to do with it. I won't forgive him if he pushed you." She smiled at me again. She sounds normal and her explanation makes sense, except for the part when she said you'll probably hate me. Or maybe I'm reading too deep into it. "Zeil, I should probably get you some ice, do you want flat shoes instead of heels?" I think. "I'll take short heels, like the boxed ones." "Alright." She leaves. I sit on the edge of the bed inspecting the foot. It's not as red as it was before and it doesn't hurt that bad. I dont think it's sprained, probably just irritated. Kaital comes back not long after with an ordinary but cute black pair of short box heels, and an ice pack. "Here, you can rest with the ice pack for a good 10 minutes, but Mira's Father wants everyone to be there for the Ending Ceremony." "What's that?" She sighs. "Like a 15 minute speech saying how grateful they are for everyone's support and saying goodbye to everyone who came. It's super annoying and totally unnecessary." It's like in a movie, and they are the nobles or something. Is this real life or a fantasy? "I see, I won't be long so you don't have to wait here for me Kai." "Are you sure, you might fall again or something." "No, it's fine." With a last nod she leaves. I held the ice pack on my leg for a while. I check my phone as the time passes. I still have 5 more minutes but I don't want to arouse suspicion. I slip on the black heels. Compared to what I've been wearing, these feel quite comfortable. I head back to the Ballroom, people are leaving that room and heading to the Ceremony Room, which to me, looks like a funeral room. Everyones taking their seats and I'm not really sure where to go so I just take a seat in the front. "Zeilici." I look up to see Kyle standing in front of me. "You have to go up there, go stand next to Kaital." I silently see Kaital motioning to me to come. She's standing on the podium on one side of the Madam. I feel embarrassed. I quickly get up and hurry over. Thank goddess someone drops a cup of wine and everyone diverts their focus. I take my place next to Kaital and breathe a sigh of relief. "Zeil, how's your foot?" "Oh, It's fine, the ice really helped." A maid comes over to help the drunk man and Mr. Leuola starts his speech.
