"What do you want Rori? Which mate has the strongest bond in your soul?" I hear the pain in his voice. I hate hurting Nico. His face is a deep red. I see him constantly wiping the sweat off his palms.
I watch as my dad transforms into his human form. "You need to leave for a moment to cool off Nico."
He nods. I see the heat in his eyes when he looks at me. I know he is scared and lost. I know he is doubting the wolf love we share.
Moments later, I stand in a long circle, a pack meeting with every wolf is exactly what I need. My mom and Kiara. Everyone!
"Rori, you have to tell Gala, you want nothing to do with his kind and magic," I hear Ajay speak. I am here, but not. I stare off into space. I don't need people telling me what to do and how to feel.
"I think you guys should stop being afraid of what you don't understand. Yes, vampires and witches turned out badly, but that doesn't mean aliens are just because they practice magic! "
"The biggest downfall of an alpha is being too trusting," Alpha Cricket says.
"This meeting wasn't called to verbally attack Rori," my dad yells.
"So if she chooses this alien mate, will you be okay with it?" I hear the frustration in Dev's voice.
"I'll never turn my back on my daughter, no matter what decision she makes."
"And where does that leave my son Chetan?"
"Stop, I haven't expressed a desire to be with Gala." Even though my heart has and the thought eats at me.
"Zero's potions alone shouldn't have that much effect on her. She shouldn't have gotten magical powers," Ajay says.
"We all know Mom has drunk a lot."
"I have a confession to make." I hear my mother's voice, and I almost shit myself. I don't need any more secrets confessed today.
"Rori was created from magic, I drank a special potion to conceive her."
I see the look on my father's face. It looks like a cross between humiliation and anger. It was clear to me that he had no idea.
"Zare, seriously, you never told me, and this is how you choose to."
"I just know how bad you wanted to have a kid, and it wasn't happening for my body, so I went to the cave and found a potion, that I knew Zero had that would work." I see my mom cry.
"Years?!" Zare it took that long to tell me?'
"Does it make a difference Chetan?"
"Obviously, I still love my daughter just the same but it doesn't take away the hurt that you lied to me."
"Like you're truthful using a potion to spy on Rori?"
My eyes immediately hit my dad's face, and he looked so incredibly guilty.
"That's how you knew about the tree and every time I've ever been in trouble!"
"I only did it to protect you. It was a mirror, and it turned red when you were in trouble, and then I showed up."
"Everyone just relax," Ajay says.
"Do you think I'm having an easy time processing that my parents are lunatics?"
"I mean, we may be a little dysfunctional, but your mother and I love you very much Rori, I just couldn't send you out to this crazy forest alone. "
"Why, because you didn't think I could do it, Dad?" I wipe a tear from my cheek.
"No, because I lived in it and it's a crazy mess."
"I just need some space. I'm feeling a little bit jaded realizing that both my parents are liars!"
