As Merlin stepped out of the police station, he pulled his phone towards his ear and swiftly made a phone call.
On the first ring, the person on the other end of the call picks up, and it appears that that person was not pleased to receive Merlin's call, which was due to the sigh that left the person's lips.
"Hello, brother," Merlin stated as he smirked, his golden eyes flashing with excitement because what he was about to do would be so much fun.
"What do you want, Merlin?" The man on the other end of the phone line inquired, his voice low with dismay because he wasn't prepared for any juvenile banter from his brother.
As Merlin licked his lower lips beneath the nose mask, he continued his speech. "It seems that you aren't delighted to hear my wonderful voice." Merlin began, his eyes glittering in the moonlight as he awaited his brother's response.
"What do you want, Merlin? I'm busy and I don't have time to amuse a child." The gentleman spoke, nonchalantly about the fact that he was speaking to his brother.
Merlin's face which had lit up with amusement, instantly frowned because hearing his brother address him as a child was inappropriate and had hurt Merlin's ego.
"It feels good to hear you refer to me as a child, brother. It's nice to know..."
The person on the other end of the phone hung up instantly before Merlin could finish his remark.
With a disgruntled expression, Merlin dialed his brother's number, and his brother once again answered the phone on the first ring.
"If you don't have anything to do then go to a club to quench your youth and your active spirit." His brother spoke with rage in his voice, hating the fact that Merlin was diverting him from his work.
A low, heavy sigh escaped Merlin's lips as his ego crumbled under his brother verbal onslaught.
"Perhaps I should simply end her life," he suggested, the frigid chill of his voice signaling a palpable shift in the conversation's tone.
His cold voice made his brother realize that Merlin was quite serious this time around, and he has no idea on whose person life that Merlin wishes to end.
"Then do so." Came the reply of Merlin's brother and with that, he once again hung up the phone call.
"This bastard!" Merlin cursed with clenched teeth and as he hissed, the fire in his eyes was a mirror of the simmering rage within.
After a second, he dials his brother's number once more.
"What the fuck do you need fro…" This time, before Merlin's brother could finish his sentence, Merlin cut him off.
"I have sent a portrait pic of a sexy lady to the place where you used to be buried."
The person on the other end of the phone raised his eyebrows as he heard Merlin's statement. "And why would you do that?"
Merlin smiled, relieved that he had finally gotten his brother's attention. "I did that because I want you to get a girlfriend. I want you to be someone's spirit boyfriend. He explained, but his explanation disgusted his brother.
Silence follows suit.
"Won't you be grateful?" Merlin questioned, breaking the steel in the air.
The person on the other end of the line scoffed. "I can never be grateful for such an act." The voice on the other end bit back, stinging Merlin's pride like the lash of a whip.
"Since you're so concerned about my well-being, I suggest you seek out for a ghostly companion to sate your need for companionship. After all, only a ghost could tolerate your presence for any significant length of time."
"Are you rejecting my kind gesture? Besides, it cost me a fortune to get her portrait, so why don't you give her a try?" Merlin offered, and his brother sneered. "Also, the lady has willingly agreed to make you her spirit boyfriend so what are you so scared of?" He continued, probing his brother even more.
After Merlin's speech, his brother declined to say anything and instead stayed silent.
Merlin felt weird because of the sudden silence, so he raised his eyebrows as he interrogated his brother over the phone. "Did you hear what I said?"
The young man on the other end of the phone nodded, even though Merlin couldn't see him.
He responded to Merlin's query with a stern expression on his face. "I heard you right and clear Merlin."
"Ohh," Merlin murmured as his lips formed a circle. "And would you be paying her a visit tonight?"
"Don't you have any other meaningful thing to say aside from talking about girlfriend?" Merlin was confronted by his brother, whose voice was as frigid as ice as if winter had discovered a human inhabitant.
"I don't."
Merlin's brother sighs with frustration as he lowers his shoulders in exasperation. "Good by then." He spoke and then hung up the phone.
Merlin clinched his hand, his golden eyes staring into the street as rage flowed through his bones.
Fingers flying across his phone's screen, Merlin tapped out a hurried message to his brother.
"A witch has cursed the portrait," the words flashed on his brother's phone. "The lady will die if you don't meet her tonight," he added, attempting to play on his brother's sense of duty.
With a few final swipes, the message was sent, and Merlin waited, drumming his fingers against his leg, hoping that the urgent tone of his words would be responded to, but he got nothing.
After a while, Merlin raised his hands toward the air as he howled his phone onto the floor.
"Urgh!" He screamed in frustration, hoping that things would go as he had planned.
As Merlin walked up towards where the scattered phone was on the floor, he immediately began to stamp upon it with his feet as he hurled his nose mask from his face so that he could breathe properly.
"Arrrghhh!" The loud scream of a child could be heard as he stared at the face of Merlin.
Merlin initially stopped stepping on the phone, believing that the youngster was weeping as a result of his actions.
Although he was no longer stepping on his phone, the child's scream echoed across the streets.
He then recalled that he had taken off his nose mask.
"Pfft!" Merlin sighed. "Sorry, little one." He whispered as he leapt at the youngster at light speed, pulling him into the air and wrenching the child's neck out of his head.

On the other hand, Merlin's brother smirked and shook his head sideways, delighted that Merlin was threatening him with the life of someone with whom he had no connection.
Unbeknownst to him, he has an Unwittingly connection with the "girl," and if he does not save her, she will die.
