Chapter 116 - Chapter 41 Valor

" Don't let them live!"

Arthur stopped his horse in the tracks, pulling down his helmet with a grim face. Then he charged toward the incoming scout, partying his sword with his sword.

As a knight who was trained by the elite of his people, his skills were far superior to scouts who trained to look out for enemies. His agile moves were easily able to outsmart the scout, drawing his blood from his chest.

" Ugh*"

The scout opened his eyes wide with surprise, trying to fall back to his people but Arthur cut off his route with his horse. His sword came down to his arm, severing it from his shoulders as his blood spurted out.

" Lorn!"

The captain yelled with anger on his face, trying to protect his mate from the onslaught of Arthur but he was stopped by Arne. His giant sword crushed the head of his poor horse while he jumped off from his horse.

" You must be their leader. I will spare you if you show us around."

The captain spat on the ground, charging toward him with his dog which amused Arne. His giant sword was more nimble than any great sword and claymore in a sense for it was crafted from alloys that came from deep land.

" Ugh!"

With a single slash, he pushed the captain back but the dog bit his leg, trying to drag him down. Unfortunately, it couldn't tear his leather armor that was made from two-fold of oxen leather.

" You have a great beast. However, I am more beastly than anything you have seen."

His big hand grabbed the neck of the dog, lifting it in the air in front of his horrid expression. Before he could mutter a word, Arne grabbed the pup from his tail, tearing him in half with his sheer strength.

Then he threw the bloody corpse to the side, putting his hand on the ground to wipe the blood from his hand.

" What kind of a monster are you?"

The captain said with a pale face, thinking how to leave this area with his men but unfortunately, that wasn't happening as the screams of his men reached his ears.

" I am your worst nightmare. Perhaps you have done unforgivable sin in your last life and your God sent me here."

Arne spoke calmly, taking a step toward him while brandishing his sword. His cold eyes lightly observed his moves, thinking he had to cut off at least two limbs.

" Then I will defy my God."

The captain charged toward him with his sword, dodging his slash with a duck. His sword headed toward Arne's neck but Arne who saw this miles ago, blocked him with the hilt of his sword. Next, he kicked him in the abdomen, sending him to the dirt as he grabbed his hair.

" Don't scream."

His hand lightly touched his elbow, making a crisp sound whilst the captain screamed with pain. Afterwards, his hand roamed to his knee, crushing it instantly before he could process his pain.

Meanwhile, Arthur took out his opponent with rather ease. The head of his enemy rolled on the ground while he looked at his face with a complicated face.

" I am sorry."

He mumbled with a quiet tone, knowing this was the cruelty of the war. It was either them or him, so he made the choice. He understood his enemies had families and so did he.

" Well done."

Thud*

Arne threw the unconscious captain to his feet, nodding with a hint of approval in his eyes. He imagined Arthur would falter a bit but to his surprise he was doing far better than he expected.

" I have no choice. To better future, we have to make a sacrifice."

Arthur sighed to calm his mind, acknowledging he claimed a human's life to his friend and mentor.

" Yes, and you will do it a lot in the future. Sometimes it would be fun and sometimes it would be hard but remember we will also die by the sword if we make a mistake."

Arne taught his lesson to Arthur, waiting for Halfdan to finish his job. It didn't take a long time to wipe out poor scouts with their squad.
